Are you leaning towards him having a premeditated plan to kill Maddie and film it as a snuff movie? I just can't believe it was premeditated, but it very well could have been because he sure wasn't there, back in that condo long and her birthday seems to have some significance.

WTH was he doing to her that she died? Strangled. Probably not much noise from that, so I see why you're considering he was setting up and positioning, maybe sharing last images. I can't stand to think someone could be so heartless. Ruined her life then kills her.

I guess I want to believe he had some shred of human decency to not premeditate this tragedy, but past actions, (years, those 1700 files, taking pics of woman under doors, etc.,) are really confirmation he's rotten inside, a totally selfish sicko & pedophile out for his own pleasure. I would think LE has investigated more about if he was sharing his images with others, maybe making side money. I hope LE obtained evidence we don't maybe know about yet. I hope they can go after the other sickos.

Maddie sometime noted a certain vehicle, seen at a certain time, down to the minute, on a (which?) Friday. Nobody writes something like that down without a reason, not even a 13-year-old. I think and speculate, Maddie was on the trail of some occurrences, that she could not yet explain, but which involved herself and SS or other males, not to say: SS plus other males. Possibly something happened (repeatedly?), when she was in an anestetic state, in an unknown car, and Maddie afterwards only remembered fragments (like a dream), if at all.
Her mother wouldn't have cared for her and SS and would have believed his lies, it seems to me. Maybe, he told JS, they both were shopping toys or in a fastfood restaurant or whatever, when he had in truth other plans for an hour or two or three. - All MOO and my own worst fears re poor Maddie. What was SS capable of (enabled by so many people)???

It's an evil thing to do especially to a child, especially to your own child. It awful that she was being brought up with constant suggestions that mental problems were inevitable for her too. She was being fed to expect it. (A self-fulfilling prophecy is a prediction that comes true as a result of a person's belief or expectation.)

Not sure, but I think I read up thread about Miralax (a form of laxative) being mentioned, I think in the doc dump. Was that being given to MS? Is that true? Can anyone fill me in on where and how the Miralax is mentioned?

All the things that were going on that Maddie couldn't figure out-- being tired, anxious, mood swings, attention problems.....

That poor girl held it together mentally a heck of a lot better than she could ever realize.

D says that MS calls SS (02/24/2024) to check if he is going to her birthday party, to make sure that he was going. Whatever is said during this phonecall, it triggers SS.

“C said something was odd with Stephan and he was very upset. Stephan was anxiously looking for anxiety medication from C and D, but was unsuccessful. C said Stephan looked very stressed out on Saturday evening (02/24/2024). C said he felt that Stephan was more stressed out over something rather than upset at something, but had no idea what was stressing him out.”

This could suggest an escalation of some sorts in their relationship or the dynamics of their relationship, and possibly here we can start to imagine tension and a newly emerging uncontrollable MS and the idea of premeditation.

Interestingly, she states that since MS has been staying with her mother, she hasn’t been taking it consistently. So perhaps, it’s when she is at home and around SS, that she took it consistently? Speculating.

Makes me wonder if JS and or MS had relayed something specific to SS - and that was possibly related to either something that JS had learned maybe about MS, or that perhaps MS had told her or him?

Sadly, the more revealed about JS and this case, the more troubling and disturbing it becomes IMO. MOO

It felt coached to me people might think she took note of someone following her ( In that high risk area near her school . But thats a total assumption when I have no idea what that note was about.

who was it for? I dont know if these were things she was going to bring up to someone and hope they dig deeper? like her way of disclosing?, or was someone setting it up to create a narrative, as if she left behind clues???. its just that both together feel creepy.

More speculation, it's not uncommon for people with anxiety/chronic anxiety to experience constipation. I could also see it being viewed as a dietary supplement rather than a medication, in which case it wouldn't be perceived as a big deal if it was skipped sometimes.

I wondered if that really was what the call was about? its. not like he was welcome at the party. I wonder if she even called him or if he called her ?

Not sure of the first not describing a van but the second notebook entry appears to be by JS. JMO

ETA: Perhaps something she'd written for her medical appointment on the date MS disappeared -- trying to get out of work due to anxiety. I recall JS only made one of her appointments that day (blood draw) and missed the second appointment citing cost/copay.

Could be. She told him something. Your guess is as good as mine. She might've mentioned the family didn't want him at the party. She couldn't mentioned liking someone else, someone her age. He hadn't been living there, she was experiencing some freedom away from him and spent a week at Gma's. I think it was something that got to his ego. He prided himself as being "her person" that she went to, and I'm sure he felt possessive of her. What was that call between MS and SS about that made him so anxious and upset? So anxious that he needed extra drugs?​

In chapter 3, Maddie's best friend reveals that JS told her that she, JS, dropped Maddie off at the church.
