Finally! This one never did sound right. Who let's a masked person into their home in the middle of the night? Large life insurance policy, broke husband with side chick and baby. At strip club right after his wife is murdered. No bond - sounds like they got all the evidence they need.

A few updates:

LAKE WORTH, Fla. (CBS12) — The state of Florida is not seeking the death penalty for Euri Jenkins, the man accused of killing his wife, according to the 15th Judicial Circuit for Palm Beach County.

LAKE WORTH, Fla. (CBS12) — Euri Jenkins was on the docket Thursday morning for a arraignment inside the Palm Beach County Courthouse, but he wasn’t transported from jail.

However, his lawyer Gregg Lerman was there, but he has what he described as “a past history” with the judge, so now a new judge will be assigned at a later date.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - For the first time since his December arrest, the brother of a man accused of killing his wife in suburban Lake Worth last year is sharing his thoughts about the case.
...
After cooperating with the investigation, Joel Simmons said he can’t help but think that this is a witch hunt against his brother, Euri.
...
If the arraignment would have taken place, his attorney said he was going to enter a not guilty plea.

“It doesn’t make any sense, not with all the work that he’s done with all of those children. He’s been a great father to all those children and he’s been a loving husband. There is no sense at all, so why would they pull him aside and put him in there. That’s why I said it feels like a witch hunt,” said Simmons.

“He’s not doing well. He misses his kids, misses his family. We maintain firmly that he is innocent of these charges,” attorney Gregg Lerman.

I always knew he was behind her murder. I just hope they can prove it.

Makeva was pregnant and her husband knew it!

I was about to go to bed when I decided to check when the next court dates are and I found this article from February 7. The discovery docs are in the article. Click on the little full screen icon to bring the doc up in a new tab - that makes it easier to read. From the article:

Records from the State Attorney’s Office show ongoing tension between the couple before Makeva’s killing. In May, Makeva reportedly told Euri that she wanted a divorce, but changed her mind after learning she was pregnant, according to a statement from a friend to investigators. A friend of Makeva’s also told investigators Euri wasn’t happy about her pregnancy.

Deputies had no idea who the masked man was until one of the witnesses inside the home at the time of shooting came forward. Records show in August, Dale told investigators he drove the shooter to the scene of the crime moments before it happened. Dale said 19-year-old Joevan Joseph was the one who pulled the trigger, according to the records from the State Attorney's Office.

According to public records, Dale wore a wire when Joseph told him Euri Jenkins gave him a gun and $1,500 two days before the crime. Joseph told detectives Euri once said he wanted to kill his wife, but that he didn’t help him.
...
Investigative records also show an ex-girlfriend told investigators Euri kissed her the day before Makeva’s murder, and that Jenkins showed no emotion after her death.

This guy is such a loser. I wonder how she even got involved with him. And I hope he gets additional charges for the baby.

Custody battle continues as Lake Worth man prepares to go to court, charged in wife’s murder

April 27, 2018
On Friday, Jenkins’ attorney Gregg Lerman said aside from the criminal case, there’s a case going on with the Department of Children and Families over custody of their children.

“The kids miss their father. They don’t understand necessarily what’s going on,” Lerman said.
...
“We maintain that Euri is innocent, that’s he’s not guilty, not just technically not guilty, factually not guilty, and in the end, he’ll be acquitted of these charges and he’ll be reunited with his children at that point,” Lerman said.

Next status check is scheduled for July. I hope he never sees his kids again.

Thank you so much for the link! I hope the testimonies and the "Game Plan" letter will seal Euri's fate as the mastermind of Makeva's murder. Clearly it was all about money. He may not have pulled the trigger but he set the murder in motion. What a waste, how could he do this to the children?

Thank goodness that these criminals were stupid! MOO.
BBM I often wonder the same thing in cases like this. People who do something like this are very selfish and egotistical. They seem to think their lives are more valuable than anyone else's.

I think Euri not only wanted the money, he wanted to live a loose, carefree life as a bachelor. I wonder how the children were supposed to fit into that lifestyle. Maybe let the grandparents raise them since he would be too "busy"?

I'm so glad his scheme unraveled and he will pay for murdering Makeva.

Joevan Joseph pleads guilty, Euri Jenkins trial rescheduled for November 12.
Joevan Joseph, 21, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the June 2017 fatal shooting of Makeva Jenkins before Circuit Judge Kirk Volker. Joseph, who originally was charged with first-degree murder, must testify truthfully in the trial of Euri Jenkins, Makeva Jenkins’ husband, who investigators said hired Joseph to kill his wife.
...
Attorneys agreed to reschedule the trial date for Euri Jenkins — who appeared in court just minutes after Joseph pleaded guilty — to Nov. 12.
Man pleads guilty in Makeva Jenkins killing, husband's trial postponed

#JenkinsTrial - The judge is bringing in potential jurors one at a time asking what was said. Many are saying a woman said she was the victim's mother and the defendant killed her daughter. The judge has dismissed a few jurors so far, they will not be in the potential pool.

Cathy Russon@cathyrusson

#JenkinsTrial - Next potential juror tells the judge he heard a woman tell someone to get something out of her car for her. He says she then said, That's my daughter he murdered and there's no way he's going to get away with it. That's why I'm here.

#JenkinsTrial - It appears multiple potential jurors heard a conversation between the victim's mother and a potential juror. The judge is bringing in jurors one by one asking them what they heard.

#JenkinsTrial - Jury selection halted on day 2. Trial reset April 13. This comes on the heels of several potential jurors saying they heard victim's mother say the defendant killed her daughter. Euri Jenkins is charged in the murder-for-hire of his pregnant wife Makeva Jenkins.

WEST PALM BEACH — A jury Friday found Euri Jenkins, accused of hiring a hitman to kill his pregnant wife in a scheme to collect on an insurance policy, guilty of first-degree murder.

Jurors deliberated for less than an hour Friday – and about three hours in total since their deliberations began Thursday – before returning their verdict in the June 29, 2017, death of Makeva Jenkins at the family's home near Lantana.

Circuit Court Judge Kirk Volker immediately sentenced Jenkins to life in prison.
