.....snipped by me for focus on #2......

2. And this is a big one ... I knew John List. Well ... I knew Bob Clark, the man he "became". He was arrested in the office building where my family had an office, and I occasionally worked there as well. Bob was the odd little man down the hall who barely spoke above a whisper and would never turn his back to you. Ever. No, that isn't a hindsight comment. It is something we all sort of noticed just by being around him. You know how you notice mannerisms of people you see every day (think The Office). Well Bob was the odd guy down the hall who drank out of the water fountain sideways as to never turn his back to you. He held every door and insisted you go in first ... again ... never turned his back. He always took the stairs ... never the elevator (small office building ... only three floors ... but still). This was before social media. I believe now he would have been caught much sooner as his picture would have been available in more places than just the post office (or wherever they posted such things). But I knew a man ... even just casually ... who literally annihilated his whole family. That was my first exposure to "true crime" and why I still follow cases today. I have no real point in saying this other than when I see his name mentioned ... I still cringe.

Wow. I know the John List case well from TV as there was a couple crime shows that covered it in detail.

For him to be able to do what he did to his family and then try to make excuses to his pastor was so pathetic of him.

Reminds me a little bit of Mark Hacking who killed his pregnant wife once he realized his web of lies was going to be discovered - and that wasn't even any criminal or legal issues. I don't know how these men think they will get away with it. And that they fear damage to their reputation more than being convicted of murder charges. It's insane. If Tony was most concerned about legal issues, debt, arrests, potential prison for fraud, whatever, then he would have killed himself, not his family.

Has the weapon or method of murder been released?

Not that I've seen yet. Of course there are people claiming to know, but nothing official.

Agree - very stupid. I'm following a case in another state that involved a dental office manager who stole way more from Medicaid than it appears TT stole. Murder wasn't involved, but the fraud went on for years before being discovered. In that case, he used a billing code over and over again for a very expensive service that is very rare and that particular clinic did not even employ a specialist who could have provided that kind of service. They had a lot of Medicaid patients and he picked and chose people from their patient list and just electronically submitted claims on them and he was paid.

This case is in a state that provides public access of to online court records and the status of the case appears to be stalled, after almost two years. He bailed out of jail and he is having a good time, living his life.

I don't think that this affidavit is meant to capture all the fraud. In fact, he pretty much admitted there was more when he stated he randomly selected patients - he probably doesn't even know exactly who he used.

Thank you for your efforts on this case - I wonder when they will release cause of death - I’m rethinking the gunshot idea since it doesn’t appear neighbors heard shots unless he used a silencer or pillow while they slept ? He may have drugged them - can a PT subscribe meds I wonder ?
JMO

No, PTs are not prescribing healthcare providers. Nor would he likely have access to RX meds that weren't RX'd to his family. My guess is he drugged the kiddos with benadryl (since he mentioned trying to commit suicide with that) and strangled/smothered his wife. But that's totally just a guess.

Well that affidavit was interesting to read. Thank you so much for getting that and posting. So it sounds like there was never a missing person report filed on Tony or his family? The family did express concern and call for a welfare check on December 29, but it never escalated to a missing person report, do I have that right?

Yep. That's how it reads to me, too. And the presser from the Sheriff seemed to say the same thing. There was a welfare check request but no missing persons report.

Temperatures here have been mid to upper 80s for the last week and a half or so. If his electric was cut off, that house was getting baked with decomp.

Did you read somewhere he was soiling himself?

One reported reported a strong odor about him as they perp walked him but it hasn't been clarified what that meant.

Because it is "that time of the year" in Florida once again - "snowbird season".
I don't understand how that relates to this case?

Just a guess, maybe thinking of the dumb Casey Anthony jury. IMO

Oh yes, totally. I’m embarrassed for my state for that one. And for Jose Baez...Celebration is easily close enough to Orlando for him to stick his head in this one. Let’s hope not. Although TT confesses, so that changes things. We sent Bundy to Old Sparky, though...so can we have points for that? :-)

It sounds like the thought may have been that the family was on the run, trying to evade LE, and that they had purposely gone missing and weren't really "lost." jmo. So there wasn't that same urgency to find them as if they could have been abducted or be in danger. More like LE was going to be in hot pursuit of him because of his criminal acts. I can better understand the family calling the police to do a welfare check and not having that different type of concern that an entire family had mysteriously gone missing and no one had any idea why.

The focus may not have been on that he was at risk for harming his entire family. And the dog. It was potentially easier to believe that he had bolted for Mexico or something. What actually happened is hard to imagine -- probably not where one's mind goes without the benefit of hindsight. If anything you might think the person who is at risk for going to jail might take his own life to avoid the consequences. But killing the whole innocent family just isn't the norm - although it's sure starting to feel that way.

I've read the books, seen the movie (um ... they turned our suburban boring Richmond, Virginia 1960s office building into a marina? LOL), watched the shows, read, read and read some more. I mean ... I KNEW HIM. OMG.

A couple of thoughts:

1. "Despite the fact that Child-2 did not receive any physical therapy sessions at
FAMILY PHYSICAL THERAPY after October 25 , 2017 , TODT and FAMILY PHYSICAL
THERAPY billed Medicaid for physical therapy services purportedly provided to Child-2 on 172
individual dates of service betweenNovember I,2017 and December 5, 2018
, and Medicaid paid TODT SI7,I94 for these claims. For 23 weeks during this time period, TODT billed
Medicaid for having provided physical therapy services to Child-2 on four or more dates during
the week."

So out of 399 days total (including holidays, weekends, etc.) they filed 172 visits for PT and Medicaid PAID THIS. I am not saying that someone eventually didn't catch on (somehow?) but that alone should have been a huge red flag! I had my daughter in PT about twice weekly last year for a couple of months after a sports injury (like the one mentioned) and it was a huge production getting it approved, documenting it, etc. I think my daughter went maybe 18 times. It was a HEADACHE with the paperwork and documentation. 172 times? WOW.

Megan is 42

Gibson said Todt killed his wife, Megan, 42; his sons, Alek, 13, and Tyler, 11; and his daughter, Zoe, 4. The sheriff appeared to become emotional and paused after he said the little girl’s name.

Sheriff: Anthony Todt of Colchester, Conn., confessed to killing wife, children and dog in Celebration, Fla.
How can anyone not be emotional mentioning all the names. Poor kids and poor mom. And the little girl was only 4. So dang sad. Also the little dog. TT has my vote for monster of the year, hands down. JMO

I agree. John List is a very good example of why I think the altruism motive cannot possibly apply to the family annihilators who kill their families but not themselves. I'm not an expert, but I've followed numerous FA cases and sometimes, these monsters create an incredible mess and then decide it is time for a fresh start.

In their minds, they must think they are going to get away with it. JMO.

I mean when I knew him it was 1988-89. He'd been on the run since 1971. Not at all pitying him but I think he had just lived a whole other life on the run ... always watching his back.

That he was always watching his back tells me that he was sane and he knew if he was ever caught, he'd pay very serious consequences. JMO, he also victimized the poor woman who married him in his new life. She had no idea "who" she married. Imagine trying to recover from that kind of shock!

I think he snapped and went thru psychosis then didn’t know what to do after the fact he literally murdered his family. In situations like this it seems to be the case. imo. But we really don’t know a whole lot yet.
Either way, extremely tragic. I’d like to know what his “reason” was to do such a heinous act.

Yes. And for years his mother steadfastly support his father and brought them to prison to visit and then suddenly, 180 and he has a stepdad and his dad is gone, right? Weird.

It's reminding me a bit of the Susan Powell case as far as family strain of evil. Her murderer was himself kidnapped by his dad as a child and he and his siblings were kept from their mother for years. Actually, I think his dad may have been kidnapped by one of his parents too.

For any who don't know, then dear old dad fell in love with Susan and took hidden photos of her (and some little girls next door) but helped his son hide his obvious murder of Susan and then tried to keep the grandkids away from Susan's family.

Once the kids were finally removed from Josh, he ultimately killed himself and his poor kids during a supervised visit. Dear old dad was then tried and convicted for child *advertiser censored* and his his brother, who was likely also an accomplice, jumped to his death off a parking garage. Dad died after being released from prison.
I lived in Tacoma and actually went to the boy's funeral. They held it at my church which had a large balcony of seats above the main floor. After we were all seated they allowed the Powell family to enter the balcony area ONLY. I was surprised at how they managed it because there were people outside of the church grounds that were determined to make sure they didn't get to the funeral.

I was gutted to look at just 1 coffin but I'm glad they were together forever.

According to my local news LE did go check on the family after relatives requested 3 welfare checks. First one right around time they were killed, second one a week later and third one
when they found the husband at the home and
they found the bodies. LE said no one answered the door on first 2 checks.

I cannot get over how blatantly stupid TT is.

The one scenario they lay out is just....I don't have words.

TT claims to have treated 16 patients with 9 increments of PT (each increment is 15 min - so 2hrs 15min of PT for each patient). All services were provided by himself. These services equate to 36 hours of treatment...in a 24 hour period. And not a single patient had any chart notes.

If that isn't bad enough - services were performed on a SATURDAY (no office hours for the business) - when he was PROVED (via flight records) to be in Florida. And his access records show he only accessed one patient record on that day from an IP address IN Florida.

I mean really, how exactly did he think he was going to get away with things like that?

Affidavit pages 25-28
If you don't get caught, you just keep doing it -- as so many do. TT thought he was smarter than the Feds, and for a while he did get away with it. Plus, he was desperate -- more and more every day. The financial walls were closing in on him. "Just a little longer, and I'll be able to pay off everything and we'll be okay," worked for a little while and then it just kept snow-balling. No way he could crawl out of it.
