This is the first I've heard of this case. How sad that it's received so little attention. Look at the attention that other cases of murdered women have received. What gives? Is part of the problem because so much of the area consists of transplants and tourists who don't care about the local news?

There is a killer out there who murdered and dismembered!

New information in severed leg murder mystery

This is an article from Nov. 8th that I didn't see posted. Evidence is being processed. :please: for justice for Kelly and Pat.

From the above linked article:
"In the application, Carter writes: "I go to my room to get away from them" and describes a physical confrontation her daughter Stacy Muralt, with whom she "can not get along". "Her face touching my face," she wrote, then "pushed me out of my office chair on the floor, hurting my left wrist and thumb."

Reading this makes me wonder if when the eviction notice arrived, the daughter (and son-in-law) got physical with Doris and Kelly saw & tried to intervene, ending in both Kelly & Doris being killed.

I think it's pretty obvious (although we don't have the details and don't know if it was a fight that got out of hand or was planned) what likely happened in this case.

Lets not forget that the Muralts also were trying to bring charges against Kelly for elderly exploitation. Not only were they being evicted, it appears they believed Kelly was cleaning out the bank accounts as well and perhaps digging into to their inheritance.

Are there any updates on this case? I'm somewhat local as I'm only about 24 miles away. Can't fin any new info

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FLa. - Almost two years after a severed leg washed ashore in St. Petersburg, the events that brought it there remain a mystery.

Soon after it showed up, Hillsborough County detectives tracked it to Kelly Moriarty, 38, who was missing from Bradenton. Her parents, Bud and Grace Moriarty, cremated the leg and keep it in a small urn on their bedroom dresser.

"As far as closure, we will never, ever have closure," Bud said. "That's all we have left of our beautiful daughter."

....

Detectives have labeled the Muralts "persons of interest", but are unable to continue communicating with them, Cpt. Ura says. They have attorneys and are exercising their right to remain silent.

Was thinking about Kelly and Doris today, can't find any updates...

Bud Moriarty thinks he knows what happened to her. And who is responsible. In his daily letters and phone calls, he isn't shy about sharing his thoughts, and his frustrations with law enforcement for her case being unresolved. He might be right. Or he might not be. In fact, the only part of the story that is certain is where it ends: on a beach in St. Petersburg where his daughter's severed leg washed ashore...

Responding to Bud Moriarty's demands for answers, they have shared some of their findings. The bulk of the investigation, sheriff's officials say, has focused on Stacy and Anthony Muralt, Carter's daughter and son-in-law...

In the days after Carter and Moriarty were last seen, Stacy Muralt's cellphone recorded a series of pings off cell towers in South Tampa and St. Petersburg, in the vicinity of the Gandy Bridge, Ura said. And, in late December, surveillance video from Carter's bank showed Muralt accessing her mother's safe deposit box. After that, authorities froze Carter's financial assets.

Wednesday's Wanted: Two missing lovers
We’re shedding fresh light on an old case that has Hillsborough County detectives in need of your help.

Two women have been missing since 2011, a case in which detectives found their car empty and their major debit and credit cards unused.

Then there’s the one clue they never wanted to find.

Bud and Grace Moriarty told ABC Action News in 2013 they will never have closure.

They still feel that way four years since the mysterious disappearance, one that remains unsolved.

For detectives, this is a disappearance in desperate need of a new clue.

"We have a lot of pieces to the puzzle but not the pieces that we need to come to a conclusion," said McKinnon.

Family upset with investigation. LE has been looking at Pat Carter's daughter Stacy Muralt and her son-in-law Anthony Muralt. Phone pings place the daughter near the Gandy Bridge around the time of the disappearances. Also the daughter went into mom's safety deposit box days after she was missing. The Muralt's were interviewed but not arrested.

I always say, "don't underestimate the power of greed". I remember way back when WSers were looking at the same people and something about the house or property. Detectives usually have a good handle on what or who went down, but you have to connect the dots. You get one chance with a jury, and you want it laid out so they can see the connection. Hope they find what they need.

Updating thread to add new Crime Watch Daily segment on this case, "Women disappear after one tries to evict her daughter"

Part 1: https://youtu.be/7fARfp-3JYk
Part 2: https://youtu.be/z9wY6kp76o0

All of the evidence seems to point to Stacy Muralt & Anthony Muralt. They were evicted from Pat's home 24 hours before her disappearance (yet still living there to this day), immediately pawning Pat's belongings and emptying her safe deposit box, avoiding the police who are investigating the case... Just a ton of circumstantial evidence implicating the daughter and son-in-law.

It's just a matter of time before they are arrested. Too much circumstantial evidence as well as motive for them not to finally apprehend these 2 suspects. Orange is a perfect color for them both to be wearing the rest of their lives!
