This question is for the many sleuthers here ,who are in the know...Please tell me first, how did S Baker get only 80 days for beating the little girl, with intent to KILL,(regardless of time served it couldn't have been enough)

My understanding is that she spent a TOTAL of 80 days in the slammer -- that was the time already served when she was sentence to 10 years but all but time served was suspended.

Why? Honestly, because ALL of us should be spending a lot more time and energy unseating legislators and judges that allow that sort of travesty to occur. It's not like it's an isolated case -- it's pretty close to the norm.

Just imagine how much taxpayer money has already been spent on SB and JB, first in connection with the beating and disappearance of JB's children (endless searches, legal proceedings, public defenders, extradition, the measly 80 days of room and board in prison, etc), and now on the search for Shannon. And now we're expected to foot the bill for her room and board and medical care for the next few DECADES! The total bill will be in the millions. And even people like Shannon's maternal grandmother and aunts, who couldn't leave for Florida right away when they learned Shannon was missing because they needed to scrape together money for gas, will continue to be taxed to pay for SB and JB. We need to get mad enough to DO something about this.

On HLN just now said LE is planning on charging JB

The size and "hasp" on that box makes me think there should be AT THE LEAST injury to a child charges brought.
I have a feeling the prosecutor/DA will add some in the near future.

ETA: I also think Tab may have charges brought...obstruction of justice, aiding and abetting, something will come. Maybe they'll just take away her computer :)

Tab is "sorry" 26 min ago Before everyone starts their bad mouthing me, I really did not think Sue would have done this! I did defend her, and I was wrong. I am very upset, and mostly at myself! I hope they put Sue under the jail, and I want to apologies for defending her! Glad Shannon is safe, and sound!
Tab

LOL! UNDER the jail? I have a feeling that may just be Tab's poor language skills when she missed the mark trying to say "in jail", but I'll be happy to agree with the suggestion literally. UNDER would be excellent.

I'm not caught up yet, so maybe this has already been addressed. But Shannon went missing 5 days ago, and the sheriff only indicating knowing where she'd been from about 8:00 AM - 9:55 PM on Wednesday. I couldn't understand whether he was just saying the earliest they can confirm she was there was 8:00 AM Wednesday and they have no idea how much longer she might have been there, or whether they have some reason to believe she was somewhere else prior to that time. 14 hours is certainly a very long time for a baby to be spending in a box under a bed, but if she wasn't there the rest of the 5 days too, where was she?

There were search dogs all over the area starting shortly after she was reported missing. Did they all make a beeline for SB's house? Or did LE, presumably having SB and JB under surveillance, see one or both them moving Shannon to the house at some point, and just sit on the info a while because they were afraid of causing SB/JB to panic and kill Shannon (e.g. to keep her quiet, if LE was approaching the house)? Or had they established with hi-tech visual surveillance (i.e. LE creeping around the house at night with night vision googles, peeking around curtains and blinds) that Shannon was in the house all along, though not being kept under the bed all the time?

SO many questions here . . .

7 month old baby girl in a cedar chest with the lid closed - a pseudocasket in my mind! I hope Sb gets life if not something worse.

I don't get it. If mom & SB planned this together, why did SB publicly proclaim that Tina was responsible and needed to come clean with where she put the baby? If she wanted to keep Shannon, she wouldn't want LE to focus on her co-conspirator. I'd think she'd want to portray Tina as the loving mother of a missing child who was incapable of hurting her.
If Tina is mentally 'challenged', could she have kept up this farce for so long ?
Something is really fishy, IMO.

Where you watching it on TV or over the Internet. During some of the questions asked to the Sheriff, I believe he mentioned once one of his deputies found Shannon, they then got a search warrant.

Thanks, Patty.

I watched it on TV - HLN. I don't think I could ever watch streaming video with my dial-up. I'm lucky IF I can get videos to play and if I can they take FORever.

What if Shannon had spit up and choked???? I would love just 15 minutes with that animal who put her in the box. Sorry, am a nicu/peds nurse.

I think if LE has probable cause, that is they see something on site or are told something that is verifiable, they can go into a property and search without a warrant. They would need the SW to remove anything tho, so would have to wait till it arrived.

And I read Shannon was in that box for 12 hours because Susan and her hubby were at the police station all of that time. I also heard on FOX they had the box ready in case LE came to their home. In that case they could put her in it quickly and slide it way up under the bed. They also put several things in front of the bed so it would be harder to look under it.

And also Shannon doesn't cry. Is that right? I had also read on Fri afternoon a neighbor heard someone slapping a baby and heard her crying and a woman's voice screaming at the baby. I don't know which is correct as it can't be both IMO.

I want to personally say THANK YOU and WAY TO GO to EastCoast.

The type of sleuthing you did is what Websleuths is all about. You made a difference and you didn't have to leave your home.

Thank you Thank you Thank you.

My apologies for this post being so late.

Again, this shows that all we need to do is get involved. Would EastCoast have done such intense sleuthing had it not been for all of you posting encouragement? See how it all goes hand in hand.

Even if all you do is post that is plenty. It all makes a difference.

Tricia

It's a shame that credit can't be given where credit is due! I highly doubt Shannon would have been found last night had it not been for EastCoast.

They had SB in their radar on Day One. If that's the case, why didn't they search on Day One?

He pissed me off when he said bloggers hindered the investigation because we all know that is absolutely OPPOSITE of what happened.

Pffft...

bbm
I must have missed this. When did he say this?

i'm thinking she was in that box to starve to death or something - pretty conveinent that it was cedar and the baking soda in their may have been to prevent foul smells of death not just a urined diaper or what have you. MOO

Maybe they didn't . . . .

In the recent presser I believe LE stated that they figured the time out because they had brought SB into the station around 8:30am? Something like that. I haven't rewatched the presser and could be wrong.

Did the sheriff just thank everyone for inseminating info?

I'll cut him a break. He's had practically no sleep for 5 days, and probably absolutely none for the past 30 hours or so. I wouldn't be able to get my own name right on that kind of sleep deficit!

I hope they're going charge JB! I refuse to believe that he had no idea that the baby was there for 5 days! And where was the baby when SB was out and about and running around making statements to the press? Crammed in a box? If the baby wasn't at SB's for 5 days, where the heck was she?

OMG. I just watched the press conference from early this morning.

I am a blubbering mess.

That little bald head. She is so adorable.

Did everyone see that sheriff get choked up and stop before saying that she was in that box for 12 hours!

Heartbreaking!

She is so cute.....

Bloggers HINDERED the investigation? WHY? Did they want to keep OBSERVING SB and JB while the baby remained living in a cedar BOX?

I really would love to know what in the heck is going on with LE on this case. I am hoping there is a REASONABLE explanation. From the outside, it looks like bloggers HASTENED Shannon's discovery!!!
