Neighbors received notices on their doors about a Child Abduction-Predator Alert.

According to the notice, an 11-year-old child was riding her bike home from Alimacani Elementary School Wednesday when she stopped to tie her shoe on Las Brisas Way in the Pable Creek neighborhood. That's when a man in his 40s told the child her bike tire was flat and if she would follow him home, he would fix it for her, according to police.

The girl told police she started riding away and the man yelled, "Come back, we can go to my house and fix your tire," while chasing her. He couldn't catch up.

At the conclusion of the notice, it said: Let's not forget that Somer Thompson's abductor and killer is still on the loose.

Police say he is in his 40s, 6'2" and 190 pounds with short dark hair. The girl said she believes she's seen this man around her school before but with a different dog.

Are we finding out any more on this other little girl walking home from school?

The body has been Identified as Makia Coney. There is a link for her here.

Channel 4's Jason Law has talked with Coney's distraught family at their Northside home. While they were not able to talk, Gaffney spoke on their behalf, saying it was "undescribable how badly she was beaten."

The common factors to Somer's case IMO:

Taken in broad daylight
Taken during/after school hours
She was severly beaten, We don't know if that happened to Somer, but there has been rumors/innuendo that could point to this
Makia was last seen at 3:15, and her body was found at around 6pm...This assault seems to have been committed quickly and ruthlessly. Police believe Somer was deceased within a few hours of being taken.
No word on sexual assault, so far, in either case. Maybe if they are connected, this is more about rage and killing. That could account for the difference in age and race.

Can anyone tell me the distance between this crime and Somer's?

DNA tests must have let them here!!

Or... I wonder if the new attempted abductions/body found have anything to do with leading them here?

Finally, maybe something is going to happen. This is great news, they must have good reason to be executing search warrants. I am hoping and praying that this is going to lead to an arrest of the person responsible. Justice for beautiful, sweet Somer!

One update made to the article:

1st version: "When told it does, Smith said, “It’s good. I’d like to know more information.”"

2nd version: "When told it may, Smith said, “It’s good. I’d like to know more information.”"

I don't know what that means, if anything.

Where's that link for Orange Park arrests???

Articles are saying "it's unclear" if an arrest has been made.

Sounds like a possibility! Would they even mention it if they were sure one hadn't?

66 years old, fits with a predator that came out of "retirement" . I always thought this case very simalar to the Holly Jones case, I always thought it was someone in a house along her route, grabbed her in a split second, took her right into his house.

I know we shouldn't jump to conclusions, but I am so excited and hopeful that an arrest is imminent, or even possibly has happened sometime today.

I was just thinking the same thing about the 66 year old guy coming out of retirement..Why didn't the dogs trace her scent there or did they?Maybe he offered her a ride or something.
