New Charges Filed Against Person of Interest in Somer Thompson Case

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. -- More charges have been added against the person of interest in the Somer Thompson case.

Today, the Clay County Sheriff's Office added two more charges against Jarred Harrell: 12 counts of production of child *advertiser censored* and molestation of the child involved.

Harrell was arrested in Mississippi initially on 29 counts of child *advertiser censored* from Clay County. He was extradited to Clay County and arrived this morning.

Mary Justino with the Clay County Sheriff's Office said these charges are "even more serious than the possession of child *advertiser censored* charges he already faces."

The new charges are in no way related to Somer Thompson. Harrell will be back in court tomorrow for a first appearance on these new charges. He is now being held with no bond.

I'm sure there are answers for your questions.

I feel LE has a reason in their actions and we don't know what all went on from the first report until now.
They could be new images/videos that they found during their recent searches of the 3 homes. We don't know that LE had videos and pictures of JH abusing children for a year and a half. They could have just found those. IMO

1 count of molestation and 12 counts of producing, so there was only one child involved. I would guess that these are from the same 29 original counts, so they are probably still pictures taken at the same time, not videos.

no...not at all in my opinion. the are different charges completely from a different frame of time. basically same perv differnt dayy and he seemed to really do it up this day. Too bad for him and too right for the winning team. I bet it will continue and nail his a$$ (moo)

I can see why he is a POI in little Somer's case - he lives right where she and gazillion other children walked to and from school. She's the only one that went missing and found murdered. Why wouldn't they make him a POI, he had access, opportunity, and motive and a temper that lost him his job. It would be negligent if they didn't rule him in or out. MOO

• intentionally touches in a lewd or lascivious manner the breasts, genitals, genital area, or buttocks, or the clothing covering them, of a person less than 16 years of age, or forces or entices a person under 16 years of age to so touch the perpetrator, commits lewd or lascivious molestation.
• An offender 18 years of age or older who commits lewd or lascivious molestation against a victim less than 12 years of age commits a life felony, punishable as provided in s. 775.082(3)(a)4.

I guess I'm thinking the motive would be to film her - he sure had the opportunity living where he did. I can't jump to the allegation he's a pre-meditated murderer - but I can see where if things didn't go as planned, JH lost his temper and being impulsive and in a rage over the lack of cooperation, ended up killing Somer. Whatever happened, I can see with clarity why he is a POI. What a pathetic he is! MOO

Yes additional charges, but is there new material as in pictures or videos or is this additional charges that is now provable on the existing?

My guess is material found when they searched the day of his arrest. On the affidavit, it said that .....your affiant was contacted by Sgt. W McKinney with CCSO and told child *advertiser censored* was found --------(blacked out) that belonged to the defandant Jarred Harrell---------(large portion blacked out).

If you Google Sgt. McKinney, his name pops up in several recent articles about a murder/suicide in the area. My guess is he is a homicide detective. And I'm guessing that a homicide detective would have come into possession of JH's alleged *advertiser censored* from a search of the Gano house/Callahan house or aunt's home. IMO only.

I think if he killed her, it was because he accidentally killed her (let's not speculate on how that happened) or to keep her quiet because she was going to tell or something like that.

in the original arrest warrant it states that the roommates were looking for 'possible pictures that jarred had taken of his ______________' (was blacked out)

so these roommates had concern's for some child known to Jarred and were looking for possible pictures he had taken of him or her.... this is scary stuff

The blacked out bit is too long to be a single word, so it probably isnt a relative (those would be single words). Something like "neighbour's *****" or "roommate's *****" perhaps. I think that would be reasonable since it would have to have been someone the roommates knew well enough to have suspicions but could not approach directly in the event they were wrong. It is also unlikely to be someone without an obvious connection to Jarred since any suspicious behaviour on his part would have generated a more direct response in that case.

Judging from the descriptions of the movies I doubt those were made by him, they describe unusual props which suggests that it was commercially produced. If I were to make a guess I would say they date from the 90s and were made somewhere in eastern europe/soviet union. There was a lot of commercially produced pornographic material involving illegal acts (kiddie *advertiser censored* included) generated after the fall of communism in that region at the time which is still floating around on the internet today.

That would leave the pictures. This Jarred guy doesn't seem particularly sophisticated, I doubt he was part of a child *advertiser censored* ring or anything like that, most of this material probably came from the internet as well. The most recent charges however imply that they have identified at least one of the subjects in the pictures as someone he knew, which would of course implicate him in producing them.

I'm curious about what they mean by "large amount of child erotica" though, the wording implies that it was distinct from the 29 *advertiser censored* pictures/movies.

but how do we know what he really is or what he really has done? I will give it here.. he is just now named as a person of interest but I am sure more motivates the title than this. We will see there names again.

No, the new charges refer to when the images were produced and the molestation occurred. It may still involve some of the same 29 images in the original charges however, since those charges refer to when the computer was discovered, not when the images were made.

I think Bond will be set tomorrow on the one new charge which will probably be another million at least. He will probably never get out of prison just on these charges.
