"Leppert, circa 1983; Age-progression to age 48 (circa 2013); Christopher Wilder; John Crutchley
Details of Disappearance
Leppert left her family's home in Rockledge, Florida at 11:00 a.m. on July 6, 1983 with a 20-year-old male friend. She said she was going to the beach and would be "be back in a little while." She never returned home.

Her friend later told authorities that he and Leppert had an argument while driving and that he left her standing in a parking lot outside the Glass Bank near an Exxon gasoline station in the vicinity of State Road A1A between 2nd Street North and 3rd Street North in Cocoa Beach, Florida.

Many reports erroneously state that Leppert was barefoot at the time of her disappearance. Her mother said she noticed she had not combed her hair before leaving the house that day, which is very uncharacteristic of her; she usually spent considerable time on her appearance before going anywhere. At the time of her disappearance, Leppert was planning to go to California to act in some movies. She apparently never arrived there, however.

Investigators looked into the possibility that Leppert was attacked by Christopher Wilder, a man linked to at least a dozen disappearances, rapes, murders and/or attacks of women in the early to mid-1980s.

Photos of Wilder are posted with this case summary. He frequented the Florida region at the time of Leppert's disappearance. He sometimes attempted to lure young female victims by offering non-existent "modeling sessions" or other tactics, which would have fit well into a scenario involving Leppert. She was a relatively known model who had won several titles and was an occasional actress, landing bit parts in the films Scarface and Spring Break, and she wanted to be an internationally famous star.

Wilder, whose history of violence towards women went back to his adolescent years, was put on probation in 1980 after pleading guilty to attempted sexual battery towards a teenage girl. While on a visit home to Australia that same year, he was charged with kidnapping and sexually assaulting two teenage girls. His parents bailed him out of jail and he flew back to the United States, promising to return for his trial which was set for April 1984.

Wilder is a also a suspect in the Florida disappearances of Mary Opitz, Rosario Gonzales, and Elizabeth Kenyon. He was killed during a shootout with authorities in 1984.

Leppert's family filed a one-million-dollar lawsuit against Wilder before his death, but dropped the suit afterwards. Leppert's mother, modeling agent Linda Curtis, later stated that she never believed Wilder was involved in Leppert's disappearance. Police have never been able to link Wilder and Leppert and it may be coincidence that she disappeared at the same time he was targeting area models. He had a long history of sex crimes but did not begin his killing spree until a year after Leppert vanished.

John Brennan Crutchley, the so-called Vampire Rapist, is also considered a possible suspect in Leppert's case. He was sentenced to life in prison in 1986 for kidnapping and raping a woman in Orlando, Florida and drinking her blood. Crutchley committed suicide in prison in 2002. Authorities have never been able to link him to Leppert. A photo of Crutchley is posted with this case summary.

Curtis criticized the police for allegedly mishandling the investigation into Leppert's disappearance. Police initially believed she ran away, and some continue to think that foul play was not involved in her case. Curtis said her daughter was afraid of the man who last saw her, and that the individual was never properly investigated. Authorities say they did the best they could to find Leppert and the man she was last seen with has been interviewed is not a viable suspect in her case.

On June 1, a month before Leppert vanished, she began acting erratically at her home. She yelled and screamed, broke a window with a baseball bat, and accused family and friends of trying to poison her. Curtis took Leppert to a mental health center for a 72-hour observation after she calmed down. Psychiatrists there could not find anything wrong with her, and a toxicology screen on her blood and urine turned up no indication of drug use. Curtis planned to find a therapist for Leppert, but she disappeared before that could be arranged.

Curtis believed that Leppert may have been kidnapped and murdered as a result of her knowledge of a large-scale drug and money laundering operation in Brevard, Florida. The operation allegedly involved many prominent local citizens. Leppert was reportedly afraid for her life because of what she knew. She stayed in her bedroom more than usual and refused to drink from open containers or eat from her own plate.

Curtis claimed Leppert made a police report about what she knew, but investigators have no record of the report and do not espouse Curtis's theory. Curtis moved to Orlando, Florida after her daughter's disappearance. She died in 1995. Leppert's sister is still looking for her and believes her mother's theory about Leppert's disappearance.

Leppert's dental records have been lost. Some agencies incorrectly state that her home is in Cocoa Beach, Florida."

I hope Tammy's sister still follows WS. There was an arrest today in a cold case homocide from 1980 in Colorado today. He was arrested in Florida, Lake Butler. When I searched intellus I found that he has lived in Cocoa, Rockledge, and Melborne FL. He is also a trucker. It made me think of Tammy. Crazy that he lived there, not sure when. I'm think @Ms Suzanne still checks-in regularly so I'm sure she'll see it. ;)

I think Suzanne prefers everyone with potential information for Tammy to send it to the investigators on Tammy's case.

Just saw her story on Unsolved Mysteries - how awful! What a beautiful girl she was, seriously was a girl most girls would dream to look like. Sometimes that would almost seem to be a curse for reasons that her beauty would make her a target for a lot of guys. Maybe even those that were up to no good, hence the story about what she may/may not have seen at that party. But what could that have been? The show almost made me wonder if the reason she wouldn't tell was to protect her mother and that 11 year old kid from harm themselves?

It seems like the story about her behavior before that particular party didn't exist. I haven't read a thing about her behavior before that, and that was probably because her behavior was normal before that? If so then what she was saying past the party was true and should've been taken, imo, very seriously.
IMO she seemed to have a promising career, which is why I don't think she would do anything to harm herself, plus if that happened she likely would've been found by now and positively identified. I need to do some more research because I have just stumbled onto this case and never heard what the guy that last saw her said word for word, and why they ruled him out? Seems odd that she was so paranoid to where she didn't want to eat normally or answer the phone and her neighbor can't buy a new van but she would just randomly leave one day with him and act fine about the whole thing???
She didn't seem to have any bags with her other than her purse so it makes no sense that she was planning on leaving on purpose never to return. The bit of story I heard so far was that he said they got into an argument and she wanted him to drop her off and he did and left. That just seems way too easy and like a total fabrication.
IMO it seems like something really bad happened but I pray that someday her family finds out and finds the closure they deserve.

I'm with you; I'm pretty suspicious of the guy. So far as I know there were no confirmed sightings of Tammy after the guy supposedly dropped her off. Maybe the guy is well connected--a "good ol' boy," as it were.

Hi
Thank you very much for posting to me.Fat boys barbeque was in cocoa or cocoa beach. They may have been in trouble for something. I am still trying to find out what.Probably in the early 80's.I am very interested in the the on you are talking about too.Do you have any information on this date it happened ect....There may or may not be a connection. If any one knows of anything on any of this. Please email me at suzannec4444@yahoo.com.
Thank you very much for caring. You are very sweet.
God bless you.
Suzanne
I believe if you read Jon Roberts book about his experiences in the drug trade in the '80s.....i think he may have spoken about this restaurant and what happened there,

It's possible that person or persons unknown feared that Tammy knew too much and decided on what usually happens when people fear others know too much. Human - problem. No human - no problem.

Okay..... I'm assuming rightly or wrongly that this party that Tammy attended had drugs there. This was the 80's and everyone was doing it (not accusing her because I don't know her or her stance of drug taking) but I believe she may have seen a drug deal go down or a perhaps a fight where someone was killed and she may have threatened to call the police or the people involved did not know her or know her to be trustworthy enough to stay quiet about it. As it was said in the movie Cocaine Cowboys, by detective Al Singleton there was no shortage of Latin career criminals living in Florida at the time. I do believe that she was in the wrong place at the wrong time in the first place and it was decided she was too much of a risk to somebody's business and had to go. I believe strongly that the person that the cops should be speaking too is Jorge Ayala Rivera who is not to hard to find as he is doing life in jail in Florida for two murders but is believed to have been involved in many more hits. He was not above killing his friends or women but would never touch kids. Even though he was not exactly in Florida in 1983 I find it hard to believe that if the Miami cartel had something to do with this then he would not have been told.

Secondly, there's Miguelito Perez who was a contract killer who even the cops admitted they were scared off and it was said he would kill his own mother if the money was right and not even think twice about it. Miguelito was in Florida in 1983 and has already spent 15 years in jail for two murders in Miami plus he was present and aided and abetted many more. The cops were not happy with his parole as they did not believe that tiger would never change it's spots and several times he was invited to speak to the police to clear up some unsolved murders they knew he knew about but he declined every time. Was Tammy one of these unsolved murders ??
