All can I say is that you would have to kill me before I would do that.
And someone is going down with me as I die.

Amraan, i agree with you on this one.
This is such a sickening case, my prayers for the boy and his mother. I couldn't even fathom how much therapy would be needed for them to get through this and if it would work. It's so sad.. i hope karma gets all those boys involved in this. Just sickening.

Charges could net teen life sentence

WEST PALM BEACH — — A 16-year-old in chains and a jail jumpsuit sat in juvenile court Friday, with his mom and dad by his side, to face charges that could put him in prison for the rest of his life.

Nathan Walker is the second teenager charged in the June 18 gang rape at gunpoint of a 35-year-old woman and assault of her 12-year-old son at their Dunbar Village home.

I didn't realize that the victims were Haitian. Sad, but probably the reason they were targeted.

Honestly how does one overcome something like this? this boy is going to think of that night each time he looks at his mother. The same with the mother. Geesh what is this world coming to?

Sick, sick, sick. The accused perp named Walker's mother, Ruby, is a real jewel from the looks of her. And his Father said this:

"He acknowledged that he hadn't spent as much time with his son as he should have after parting ways with the boy's mother. But he said his son is shy and timid, and they went to places like the Fun Depot arcade together.
"It's been awhile since I really spent a lot of time with him," the father said. In the meantime, his son has been getting into trouble with the law."

Yea, he went to the arcade with his son probably 10 years ago. I am sick to death of people who take no responsibility for their children. Not that the lack of a father in this boy's life is an excuse for what the teenager has apparently done, but where there is smoke, there is fire, and I don't think any of us is surprised by what these kids home life was like. From the victims standpoint, you have a mother who was raising her son, and trying to live in a violence prone area; doing the best she could. I would just bet you that the reason that they were targeted is the fact that they were Haitian, and the son was not willing to hang with the thugs. If this isn't a hate crime, I don't know what is. I have no sympathy for the thugs that did this....none. They are lower than dogs. In fact, dogs are far superior to this scum.

The rituals for gang memberships become more violent with every generation. Read up on some of those around the country. It is very frightening to know it is real and happening everywhere. This sounds like part of that scenario to me.

I think with 10 gang members, opening their door or not was never an option. These poor people had no protection from such a gang.

With excellent counseling, the family can hope to repair the damage done psychologically...but being they don't have the means to be in long term counseling unless it is provided free...it is unlikely they will receive it. A tragic story for mother and son.

Rap sheets read to gang members as an invitation for memberships. LE has their hands tied with so many crimes from that sector because people refuse to testify out of fear of retalliation.

WEST PALM BEACH - When she and her son boarded that American Airlines flight seven years ago, her family thought they would be safer here than in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. But that feeling of safety dissolved as an illusion in the 35-year-old woman's gruesome gang rape at gunpoint and the assault of her 12-year-old son at the Dunbar Village housing project.

More details about Dunbar Village.......

DUNBAR VILLAGE — By the time a 35-year-old woman was gang raped, robbed and beaten in her home, the sight of police tape and patrol cars were as familiar as clotheslines and headlights. During the year leading up to the attack on the mother and her 12-year-old son on June 18, police responded to Dunbar Village 717 times, an average of about two times a day.

Gosh thats absolutely horrifying - it really is. How ill this mother and son ever get through this. At least it sounds like they have their faith to help them along their way.

I wonder if the attackers knew their victims. I mean they must have known there was no adult male in there who would have taken them on.

My heart truly hurts for the mother and her child.

I barely can keep a roof over my head but I really wish I could afford to pay for this mother and son another home in a better area. How will they even be able to go into their home again?
I'm sure her being a single mother that she and her son are very close and I hope that that special bond will help them help each other through this. In some ways I worry more for the son and his future than the mother. I'm sure he feels tremendous guilt. Number one for not being able to rescue his mother during the assault but then being forced to be a part of it. God bless them both.

As for the perpetrators...I hope they all get life in prison (does FL have the death penalty for juveniles?).

Hi Lizzybeth,:)
It is very nice to see you.
I do believe that the church that the woman and her son attend is taking up a collection for them to move.

Well thank you. It's nice to see you too. Thanks for letting me know that they did have the support of the church and are getting some financial help. I must have missed that in the article.

A fund has been set up....

A fund for the victims of the June 18 Dunbar Village gang rape and assault has been set up through Wachovia Bank. The 35-year-old mother and 12-year-old son need a place to live and help with living expenses. The fund has been set up through the St. Ann's Victim Assistance Fund.

The maximum sentence is life in prison....

Thank you Cheetah. I have a Wachovia right on the corner so I should be able to stop in and make a small donation.

Thank you for posting the link. That first article is one of the saddest, most heartbreaking things I've ever read. These criminals even took their telephones so that they could not call for help and had to walk to get it? I don't know of many, if any, cases where it is more essential for the community at large to step up and step in and provide the funds and resources needed to move this family, get them established, and provide whatever help and care they need for as long as they need it. It at least appears that mom and son have a close extended family -- and I hope that is indeed the case.

Each day I read more and more about the evil and depravity of those that walk among us. :furious: It scares the hell out of me. I'm so glad these scumbags were caught.

My prayers are with the mother and son with hope that they can recover from this nightmare.

Have any more than the two perps been caught? Last I read, it was just 2 out of the 10 (I think). It would be a real tragedy to endure this, and then know that most of the offenders were still walking the streets.

Im glad that mother and son are getting help from people. They deserve it after what they have been through!

I dont know about the rest of you...but this story really bothers me. I cant imagine the horror they went thru! I cant stop thinking about this case and Ive read alot on here but this one is sticking with me :(
