How sad that such a beautiful poem is being shredded over greed.

http://www.nydailynews.com/entertai...3way_battle_over_whose_footprints_are_in.html

A battle is brewing over the true author of the famous spiritual poem "Footprints in the Sand."

The first shot has been fired in Long Island Federal Court by the son of the late Mary Stevenson, who is out to prove his mom composed the poem in 1939 when she was a 14-year-old showgirl.

He's suing a North Carolina woman, Carolyn Joyce Carty, who claims she wrote "Footprints" when she was 6, and Margaret Fishback Powers of Canada, who insists she penned it for her wedding in 1964.

All three women copyrighted their verses.

I agree. That poem has sure lifted me on days when I felt down, and greed is a terribly UGLY thing. I live it everyday!

it's all about the $$$$$ for licensing tchotchkes

This is exactly why I like my dog and bunnies more every day. I don't forsee one my bun buns suing relatives of Beatrix Potter for legal rights.

this thread reminded me of this, which i loved.

A legislator who filed a lawsuit against God has gotten something he might not have expected: a response.

One of two court filings from "God" came Wednesday under otherworldly circumstances, according to John Friend, clerk of the Douglas County District Court in Omaha.

"This one miraculously appeared on the counter. It just all of a sudden was here - poof!" Friend said.

State Sen. Ernie Chambers of Omaha, a Democrat, sued God last week, seeking a permanent injunction against the Almighty for making terroristic threats, inspiring fear and causing "widespread death, destruction and terrorization of millions upon millions of the Earth's inhabitants."

Chambers, a self-proclaimed agnostic who often criticizes Christians, said his filing was triggered by a federal lawsuit he considers frivolous. He said he's trying to makes the point that anybody can sue anybody.

Not so, says "God." His response argues that the defendant is immune from some earthly laws and the court lacks jurisdiction.

It adds that blaming God for human oppression and suffering misses an important point.

"I created man and woman with free will and next to the promise of immortal life, free will is My greatest gift to you," according to the response, as read by Friend.
