The governor of Bavaria says the arrest of a man in Germany last week may be linked to the Paris attacks.

A spokesman for Bavarian state police spokesman confirmed that firearms, explosives and hand grenades were found when undercover police stopped a man near the German-Austrian border on Nov. 5.

Ludwig Waldinger declined to confirm reports by public broadcaster Bayrischer Rundfunk that the man appeared to be en route to Paris when he was arrested.

Can you imagine how many people were being sent into France with smuggled weapons, just to ensure that all the attackers had AK47s and posts and suicide vests? It blows my mind. I gotta wonder: How long have they been planning this?? What are they planning right now that is not going to happen until 2016, 2017, or 2018??

On fox they were saying the strategy seems to be to attack one location and draw/tie up the local security forces, then start hitting other targets at leisure.

The bomb outside of the soccer stadium with the president attending, was that the first attack? Because that would certainly draw all of the security force's attention.

Yes, Sonya610, suicide bombers, think it was three, set off their explosives at the stadium first to draw the police and other security to the opposite end of town, imo. The oldest tactic in the book. Large arson fires are often times used by bank robbers and other organized criminals to distract or deflect attention from their crimes. Sadly the tactic was effective. There was no security where the drive by shootings and executions occurred.

Shutting down our borders is useless!
They are here. They are planning. They will act.

I agree with you, momof4boys, but I don't think we should take the 10,000 Syrian refugees without a completed FBI background check on each person, which would take years

I believe that was meant for those who really wanted a better life, not those who wanted to destroy us from within.

:cow:

A better life is exactly what ALL refugees want. Standing up to terrorists is not letting THEM decide anything for us, including whom we will or won't help. They shouldn't be in control.

The BBC have started to release the names of those identified as killed in the Paris attacks.

The only named British casualty so far has been named as Nick Alexander.

French victims: Valentin Ribet, Djamila Houd, Dado (nickname, full name not reported as yet), Thomas Ayad and two of his colleagues.

Two citizens of Belgium, one of Sweeden and one Portuguese man have also been confirmed dead but have not yet been named.

I know we'll be focusing on discussing the terrorists, so wanted to add the names of those confirmed dead so far. It seems so much more awful (if that's even possible) when you see the faces and read the names of the innocent people killed. Just an awful thing to have happened, it defies belief really.

One of the terrorists in Paris was identified as a 30-year-old French national from Courcouronnes, in the city's southern suburbs, Paris prosecutor Francois Molins said Saturday. If that is true, they are already here. They are among us.

"Citizens from at least nine countries are believed to be among the 129 innocent people who lost their lives in a series of co-ordinated terror attacks across Paris last night.

Nick Alexander, from Colchester, Essex, was tonight named as the first British victim of the atrocities after he was gunned down at the Bataclan concert hall, where he was selling merchandise.

A British-educated lawyer, the cousin of a former Premier League footballer and three Universal Music employees have also been confirmed as among the dead.

Valentin Ribet, who studied at Business Law at the London School of Economics (LSE), was the first victim to be named, with his firm paying tribute to a 'talented lawyer'.

The 26-year-old, who had been working in the Paris office of international law firm Hogan Lovells, was one of 80 people killed when gunmen opened fire into the crowd at the Bataclan concert hall.

Names of the victims emerged as the Foreign Office confirmed that one Briton, who has not been named, died in what are the worst attacks in Europe since the 2004 Madrid train bombings.

Next of kin have been informed and have asked for 'privacy and time' to come to terms with their tragic loss before further details are released, a spokeswoman said."

May they rest in peace. Heartbreaking.

Could have been planned before he left Syria, he could have been assigned to the project once he arrived in France.

He left where he was staying with the intention of dying in France last night. There are others still there in France who were also prepared to die last night. Some of the would-be participants are in other countries, unable to get into the country in time.

As happened in the two world wars--a Fifth Column, Quislings everywhere, what a nightmare!!

Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attacks in Paris. The terror organization issued a statement. In a video of IS, the group warns France. The country will not live in peace as long as it carries out bombings in Syria. "You are indeed commanded to attack the infidels where you find them. What are you waiting for? There are weapons and vehicles available and targets ready to be hit," said a militant of IS, flanked by other IS-fighters, in the video. "There is also poison available so poison the water and the food at least one enemy of Allah."
According to the statement of IS France will not live in peace as long as it carries out bombings. The French air force is bombing IS positions in Syria and Iraq.

The attacks will continue no matter what. They want to kill all of Western Civilization. But they like you to think that if you act a certain way or do this and not that, then you be safe. It is a big lie.

Of course they are.
Its relatively easy to get citzenship in Europe, they arrived maybe 5 years ago as refugees and today already they are citizens. Those Middle Easterners are then called French, Brits etc
Many arrived with their own agenda, some are even born here, but nevertheless they have returned to Middle East to join ISIS.

I don't have links handy, but from what I learned in the Noco thread while researching this is that encryption appears to be a hurdle. However, iirc, it was just released that the FBI has a new encryption software or something like that.

Oh yes.. They would be using code words and using all kinds of methods to stay off RADAR.

MAAJID NAAWAZ: PARIS PROVES WE'LL NEVER KILL ENOUGH JIHADISTS TO STOP TERROR

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articl...ver-kill-enough-jihadists-to-stop-terror.html

Jihadist terrorism is alive and kicking. And though we must continue to put terrorists on the back foot by targeting their leadership, we will never kill our way out of this phenomenon. In January 2013, after Bin Laden’s death but long before ISIS’s emergence, my counter-extremism organization Quilliam declared (to choruses of raised eyebrows at the time), “It’s a full blown jihadist-insurgency, stupid.” And no insurgency is sustainable, or even possible, without a level of residual support for its core ideological aims among the core communities from which it draws its fighters.

Jihadism has well and truly taken root among an entire generation of angry young Muslims. This is particularly the case in Europe, where thousands have left to join ISIS. This insurgency is incredibly hard to tackle, because its recruits remain invisible in our very own societies, born and raised among us, fluent in our languages and culture, but full of venom for everything they have been raised into.

(...)

Recognizing this is not to stigmatize every European or Western Muslim—the vast majority of whom are not, of course, jihadists—but it means being realistic about exactly where the challenge is coming from, and what the challenge is called: Islamism. Up until now the bitter truth that our Muslim populations have been subjected to decades of sustained Islamist propaganda by those who live among them has gone almost totally ignored. The long term solution cannot continue to ignore this truth, and cannot continue to neglect those few Muslims, and others, attempting to take on this threat within their own communities.
