Also, President Hollande has declined to say if France, Kuwait and Tunisia attacks are thought to be linked.

You make a statement in the OP that "we historically see a spike in attacks on so-called 'infidels'" during Ramadan. I am asking for proof of that allegation.

If you can neither do that nor link your other info above, perhaps then this thread should stick to its objective topic, viz., the horrible attack in France.

Ramadan had brought fears of new Islamic State attacks

"The Islamic State has a history of making dramatic moves during Ramadan. Last year, for example, the group declared its "caliphate" on the first day of Ramadan, with Islamic State spokesman Abu Mohammed al-Adani declaring "a new era of international jihad."

Interesting stuff , random France 24. There was a knife at the scene.

No reports of blood at scene - possibility he was killed elsewhere.

Not sure if alive when decapated - no reports re bullets stab wounds only head off.

Disgruntled worker not ruled out.

Wife gave a histronic call to radio station. Don't know if it was the translation etc but it sounded like BS IMO! Who on earth finds out their beloved husband, instead of playing package deliverer (!), elected to go chop off another human beings head, then spearing it on some post; writes some notes ; and she decides humm , I will get the talk show phone number ,and get a talk show appearance in.

On any and all levels , or motivations, just s stupid move no matter which way one wants to "ponder"
the behavior!!
IMO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Beheading And Blast In France Terror Attack - https://ca.news.yahoo.com/man-beheaded-islamist-flag-raised-france-090945047.html

Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve, speaking from the scene, described the attack as "barbarous" and a "terrible terrorist crime". He said Salhi had been known to foreign intelligence services and may have been radicalized. The suspect was initially flagged as an extremist in 2006 and then police monitoring dropped off two years later, according to Mr Cazeneuve.

He is believed to have been an employee of the victim - who headed a local transportation company, according to a French security official.

"The attack was of a terrorist nature since a body was discovered, decapitated and with inscriptions," Mr Hollande told a news conference in Brussels.

FRENCH SUSPECT CONFESSES TO CRIME

DailyMail
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...-sending-selfie-posing-severed-head-boss.html

The ISIS fanatic accused of beheading his boss has 'confessed' to his grisly crime and blamed it on 'problems at home and work'.

Yassin Salhi, 35, told investigators he decapitated Herve Cornara because of the 'personal difficulties' in his life.

His confession comes after it emerged the married father-of-three sent a macabre selfie of him posing with the severed head of his boss reportedly daubed in Islamic writing to a WhatsApp number in Canada.

Investigators said it was not possible to fix the location of Salhi's contact, but it has been reported the recipient was in Syria where ISIS has seized swaths of territory.

He could be transferred to Paris for further questioning later today by anti-terrorist police.

Cornara's head was found pinned to the gates at the American-owned Air Products factory in Saint-Quentin-Fallavier near Lyon, surrounded by two Islamist flags, on Friday morning.

A knife and a fake pistol were also discovered nearby.

He had been strangled before he was decapitated.

Salhi told investigators he killed Cornara in a car park and took a picture of him posing with the severed head.

He then drove his van at high speed into warehouse packed with inflammable chemicals where he attempted to cause an explosion.

He was overpowered by a firefighter as he was trying to prise open a bottle of acetone in an apparent suicidal bid to destroy the factory.

Sources close to the investigation said Salhi was radicalised more than a decade ago after contact with Muslim convert Frederic Jean Salvi - known as 'Ali' - who is suspected of preparing attacks in Indonesia with Al-Qaeda militants.

Rest in peace, Hervé Cornara. You did not deserve to die like this. Those who knew you speak highly of you and of all that you did for the community. You will be missed.

:rose:

Thanks to the unnamed firefighter who stopped the madman and prevented another disaster. The chemical plant is much bigger than it looks on most pictures. If the suicide attempt had caused a chain reaction, the disaster would have been huge. (No doubt all the technical measures were taken to prevent this according to the law and more, but these measures have their limits.)

FRENCH TERROR SUSPECT 'DENIES RELIGIOUS MOTIVES'

http://www.thelocal.fr/20150629/french-terrorist-denies-religious-aim

The man believed to have beheaded his boss in France has denied any religious motivation, investigative sources said Monday, muddying efforts to pin down the reasons for an attack which bore the hallmarks of a jihadist act.

Yassin Salhi, 35, on Sunday confessed to decapitating his employer and pinning his severed head to the fence of a gas factory in eastern France in a macabre display that included two Islamic flags. (*)

However according to a source close to the investigation, Salhi, who was known to security services for radicalisation, "denies any religious motivation to his act".

"He hasn't explained" why he attached the head to the fence, or shouted out "Allahu Akbar"(God is greatest) as firefighters overpowered him as he attempted to open bottles of acetone in a warehouse at the factory, said the source on condition of anonymity.

Salhi drove his delivery van into the Air Products warehouse on Friday, causing an explosion and alerting firefighters who made the grisly discovery of the decapitated corpse of 54-year-old Herve Cornara.

Investigative sources told AFP that a fellow employee had reported a quarrel between Salhi and Cornara two days before the murder, after the employee dropped a crate containing expensive goods.

While the attacker apparently denies any Islamist motivation, police discovered he had sent a gruesome selfie with the severed head to a number in Canada believed to belong to a French jihadist thought to be in Syria.

The jihadist, named Yunes-Sebastien, belonged to the same radical movement from the eastern Franche-Comte region as Salhi, said sources close to the case.

ATTACK IN ISÈRE: VICTIM WAS HIT UNCONSCIOUS WITH A JACK, THEN STRANGLED

http://www.20minutes.fr/societe/164...e-elements-laisse-entrevoir-mobile-terroriste

In custody, Yassin Salhi has denied "any religious connotation to his act." But Francois Molins, the State Prosecutor, revealed on Tuesday morning that the investigation allows many "glimpses into a terrorist motive" to the attack perpetrated on Friday at the Air Products plant in Saint-Quentin Fallavier (Isère).

The Paris (*) prosecutor has ordered the opening of a judicial investigation into the murder of a businessman and an attack on an industrial gas site on Friday in Saint-Quentin-Fallavier (Isère), including attempted murder in relation to a terrorist undertaking. The prosecutor has also requested the provisional detention of the alleged perpetrator, Yassin Salhi, after his presentation Tuesday before an investigating judge for indictment.

Almost at the end of the 96 hours of police custody of the suspect, the prosecutor wanted to take stock of the investigations. "We are of the opinion that his actions correspond exactly with the methods of Daesh". This starts with the macabre staging that the main suspect set up.

He has confessed to "having knocked out his employer with the blow of a jack, then strangling him with one hand," the prosecutor said. At 500 meters from the plant Air Products, Salih Yassin, according to his statements, stopped on the roadside to decapitate Hervé Cornara in the back of the van. "The investigation was unable to establish whether this took place beheading ante or post-mortem," François Molins said, adding that "additional tests" are still ongoing.

But it is mainly the staging which the suspect undertook that is reminiscent of the barbarism orchestrated by Daesh in Syria or Iraq. "He took two pictures of the body. The first shows the body of the victim wrapped in a flag with the shahada (the Islamic profession of faith) with head resting on the torso. The second, a typical selfie, shows the suspect posing with the head of his victim."

However, in police custody, the suspect showed a "selective memory", according to François Molins, hiding behind "an alleged amnesia". Thus, he assured the investigators having no memory of the beheading nor of the pictures he took of his alleged crime.

These elements do not fit in with the findings of the investigation. During a search, the police found that Yassin Salhi had sent his pictures to a "contact" in Syria, a native of Haute-Saône named Sébastien-Younis V. "On the phone, we found a Conversation of June 26, in which Sebastien-Younis assures his nearest and dearest that he is one of the instigators of the act allegedly committed by Yassin Salhi," Francois Molins said. And in that phone conversation via the Network Whatsapp Sébastien-Younis also says he sought permission from the Islamic state to disseminate the snapshots taken by Yassin Salhi.

Yet in custody, Yassin Salhi disputed any religious connotation, explaining his crime by a recent quarrel with the victim who was also his employer and relationship problems with his wife, who according to would be "not religious enough".

But tracing his trail back in history, the investigators found that Yassin Salhi was known to intelligence services since 2003 in relation to radical Islamism facts. He also claims that he left for Syria with his wife and children for a year in 2009, a claim that the investigators could not verify.

They are, however, convinced that this man - whose this indictment and detention were required - was linked in 2011 with a member of the Islamic group Forzane Alliza, that has since been dissolved. And last year, one of his neighbors had reported him to the police after discovering that he was organizing religious meetings in his home.

BERNARD CAZENEUVE WILL ATTEND THE FUNERAL OF HERVÉ CORNARA

France3. Alpes
http://france3-regions.francetvinfo...tentat-de-saint-quentin-fallavier-762508.html

"I would like to pay tribute to Hervé Cornara, express our sadness, give our condolences to his family and loved ones," said Bernard Cazeneuve, during a meeting on the current issues of the Government in the Senate. In addition, he promised to go to the funeral that will take place in Fontaines-sur-Saône (Rhone), municipality where the entrepreneur lived.

Hervé Cornara was found decapitated in the Air Products plant in Isère, target of an attack by one of his employees, Yassin Salhi, who confessed in custody to the murder of his boss. Yassin Salhi has been indicted in particular for murder in relation with a terrorist enterprise, and remanded in custody.

The Interior Secretary mentioned the "very special" profile of the delivery driver of 35 years of age, "compared to those who until now have hit." "He was not involved in crime, he had no criminal record, he was described as radicalized, but no evidence from intelligence services since 2006 had shown a risk of transition to a terrorist act," Mr. Cazeneuve said.

"We are facing a new reality because terrorism is freely available on the internet, because the profiles of those who can switch to action are many and because there is an increasingly strong attempt towards concealment of these acts by the perpetrators," he added.

The Secretary of Internal Affairs is of the opinion that the creation of an "operational headquarters for the prevention of terrorism," - combining intelligence, police, gendarmerie-, "will allow information to flow between all services."

ISÈRE: THE MAN WHO BEHEADED HIS BOSS COMMITS SUICIDE IN PRISON

BMFTV
http://www.bfmtv.com//societe/isere...on-patron-s-est-suicide-en-prison-938977.html

Yassin Salhi, the man suspected of beheading his boss in Isère, has committed suicide in prison, according to the prison administration on Tuesday night. This man, a former delivery driver of 35 years, was arrested in June after the attack against a factory in Saint-Quentin-Fallavier but also after the murder and beheading of a commercial director of a transport company.

The arrested man who was incarcerated in solitary confinement in the prison of Fleury-Merogis, Essonne, had not been identified as suicidal, according to the same source. This delivery driver of 35 years of aged had been remanded in custody late June 2015 after being indicted particularly for assassination in relation to a terrorist action, kidnapping and illegal detention with the aim of preparing an assassination, degradation or destruction and willful violence.

On June 26, Yassin Salhi had thrown his car against the hangars of the industrial gas plant of Air Products in Saint-Quentin-Fallavier, in Isère. Before that action, he had hooked the head of his victim, his former employer, to the fence. He had managed to enter the premises because he used to come there to make deliveries.

This 35 year old father was already on the radar of the authorities. He had been spotted between 2011 and 2014 for connections with the Lyon Salafist movement. Between 2006 and 2008 he was the subject of an S sheet. In front of investigators and judges, Yassin Salhi has always refuted the religious motives to explain his actions.
