Folks, can we all go back and focus on baby Antonio? We all lost another angel today. What his brother (RIP) was or was not has absolutely NO bearing in his death, or in his family's grief. Don't make me slap y'all.

I agree that the brother's death seems unlikely to be connected (the suspects being so young and far away from the other crime) but we have been discussing it because his mother brought it up in an interview, saying that she hopes it wasn't connected. So it seems like it was not a foregone conclusion that it had absolutely no bearing, in her mind at least.

I may have missed something in the news conference...did they disclose the race of the shooter?

The mother said the shooter was black and the person arrested is named Demarquis Elkins. Safe to assume the suspected shooter in custody is African American.

Can I still slap someone? I've had a crappy day :P

What's is the point? Other than guilty murderers will lie in order thwart an investigation? Murderers are liars.[No /QUOTE]

I agree with you , the point is we have seen in several cases people always blaming "the Black guy" and it gets to be a broken record sometimes, We are suspicious like that because we all have that in our nature and that being said something just seems off in a way.....

I just saw the mother on tv and she was crying but there were no tears???? I feel horrible for that a little innocent baby was shot in the face and murdered. I hope LE has arrested the correct people. JMO

I think the mother is in shock or has been medicated or both. I don't think she has even slightly processed what happened. She seemed quite dissociated from the situation. She was describing things very clinically.

This is NOT an indictment of the mother, dissociation is a coping mechanism that some people utilize when they just can't handle what has happened.

Someone commented on her having makeup on. This also doesn't surprise me from a psychological standpoint. Some people move on automatic pilot. Some people try to look good so that they feel good. Sometimes, a friend or family member will encourage someone in a tragedy to shower and freshen up to get them moving and functioning.

So who killed this baby? I saw this article earlier and my hinky meter went through the roof...so I came here to see what others were thinking and I see that two juveniles have been arrested. So, mom didn't do this? :waitasec: I admit...I'm guilty of saying "BS" when I read the story. :sorry: I'm jaded to the core.

Me too, I really feel for her, but it came off so unreal and just off! IDK:moo:

They said both suspects were in custody and African American.

(And I've known some white folk with pretty weird names, so I wouldn't go by that at all. :) )

I don't think the cops are going to ARREST two young boys for murder without some evidence to support it. I think they needed more than just the mom's story.

They went to their school and fought out they were absent that morning. And then they found the kids. I wonder if there was any evidence found at that time, like the weapon?

I will eat my crow like a good girl. I'm so glad it appears that this wasn't a parent involved child fatality. God bless you little Antonio and may He help your parents through this heinous tragedy.

Well, if he shot a baby in the head he was never going to be a really nice guy, even if he had a FB full of fluffy kittens.

Green declined to provide further details, other than to say it continued to be an open investigation, and that no weapon had yet been recovered.

Mom is disoriented to time.
Mom states in the below news clip: "I'm afraid to go on walks. Yesterday was the reason (implying her son was killed yesterday)." Also in the video, Mom says the crime happened "that morning" not this morning.

More irrational statements from the above video:

"I’m hoping there is no connection to the death of my first son because there is a young woman that lives next door to me who did a lot of crack cocaine. I asked her please don’t smoke it in the house and she got really mad. I think she was the was responsible for influencing the death of my young son He was 18.................

Why does she refer to her relationship with her deceased baby's dad in past tense if there is nothing wrong with their relationship?

Reporter: Were there any problems in the home?
Mom: No, me and the baby’s dad just live apart because we never got married yet. We were waiting on that We’ve been dating 3 years. We just wanted to make sure that everything would work out.

This is what one normal sees in an immediate grief reaction: shock, disbelief, denial, negativism, hostility, anger, and guilt.

Something is not right. Irrational thinking and disorientation to time are abnormal immediate grief reactions. I wonder if the two juveniles sell crack.
