Great idea tlcya :)

Mods, could you please change the title of this thread by adding Antonio's name and removing the 'mom said....' part?

Thank you.

I agree, that would be great. I think the thread title was pulled from an initial headline, totally fine, but now we know our victim's name. We know he was murdered and we know there have been two suspects arrested.

Thank you in advance to our hard working mods.

""I feel glad that justice will be served," West said. "It's not something I'm going to live with very well. I'm just glad they caught him."

West said detectives showed her photographs of about 24 young men. She pointed to one, saying he looked like the gunman.

"After I picked him, they said they had him in custody," West said. "It looked just like him. So I think we got our man."

West said she thought the other suspect looked much younger: "That little boy did not look 14."

She doesn't come across confident in her IDing the perp. But to her defense,I have a terrible mind for faces, I wouldn't be able to remember anything. I don't like the fact that she remembered the second perp as looking much younger. I hope they got the correct boys. Jmo

Do we have a pic of the 14 year old suspect? I took her comment entirely differently. I took her to mean that she identified the 14 year old as the suspect but was shocked to learn he was 14 because his appearance is younger.

This just sounds so much like the Stuart case in Boston. Charles Stuart murdered his wife, shot himself, and then ID's a random black kid as the shooter. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Stuart_(murderer)).

I hope I'm wrong. I don't like to think that somebody would murder a child and then ruin another child's life. I hope there's other evidence so there's never any question.

It worried me that mom stated she looked over photos at the police station and identified one of the suspects. THEN the police told her they already had him in custody. wth?

tl - I'm thinking either the little one is talking or they have someone else - maybe someone that was in the place they went to overheard them or even talked with them about what happened. Maybe the little one told someone on the sly.

When the mom said that the little one didn't say or do much - kinda "hid" behind the big one - that right there. The 14 yr old didn't know what he was getting into and when he did - it was too late.

But that's JMHO.

The big one may have threatened the little one causing him to fear for his life!

I follow your concern. Her word custody along with her being shown that many pictures suggests a possible "sweep"

Or they could have been in custody because of other probable cause for questioning and the other photos were of juvie offenders from previous criminal matters.

hmm.

Hoping there is talking going on and there is evidence. I want the responsible person prosecuted to the fullest.

Such a happy looking baby in his picture.

I follow you. I hope they didn't just pick up every black kid in the neighborhood who missed school that day and show her pictures of them all.

I am not sure they would have pictures of every black kid that missed school that day. Probably only the ones who had a history of trouble etc. jmo

Sister said he "lived" in Atlanta until a few months ago... as a minor he could have been
How do I say it...been in Juvie?
My guess is that he had a prior record but who knows!
moo

Sounds to me like someone turned him in as the killer, police brought in to question and the mom ID'd pic of suspect.
He probably told someone he did it... "Bro code" style
jmo

Or they already had him in custody based on other evidence.

I read his FB page and didn't see anything about him living in Atlanta. I don't know how far away the two cities are. I just saw a kid very troubled and lots of gang indicators. Juvie is a good possibility. jmo

Those numbers match the ones in the fb comments 2.12.15.....etc....

2.12.15.15.4 = B.L.O.O.D (2nd letter of alphabet, 12th letter of alphabet, 15th letter....etc.)

This is on Elkins' FB page. Does anyone know what, exactly, it means?

"ME IN MY "S A TURN UR BLO5K IN TO MURDER SCENE"

Could mean his buds will be back and try to take people down!

Thanks to the member who posted the Bloods gang speak link. That was awesomely informative. Like a crash course.

I feel so terribly sad for this mother who lost her precious baby to gun violence after also losing another son to violence a few years ago. I feel especially bad for her when people were expressing doubt that the story she told about the baby's murder was true. The mother was injured also and the bullet couldn't be removed from her leg and she will have more trouble with her leg as time goes on. She said she was already disabled (her spine) from previous car accidents she had been in. She must be going through the most horrible ordeal of her life and can use all the support and comfort that she can get.
