GUILTY GA - Bonny Cooner, 33, strangled, dumped in well, Franklin County, 28 Jan 2013

DNA Solves
DNA Solves
DNA Solves
Thanks yall for the posts and info. Seems like GBI have their eye on a suspect and waiting to get the last piece in order to make the arrest. Prayers that answers come soon.

From what I've heard, BS did not know Marsha, but Bonny did, so that was all rumor about him being questioned.

Just now getting a chance to read the article. Just as I opened it we got a knock on our door and we live out in the country. That never happens but as it turns out it was our old neighbors . I was like "get the shotgun" someones at our door. lol (I jest, but just a little)

Anyway, from the article:

“Specifically, law enforcement has discovered significant forensic evidence that has been collected and was transported to the GBI Crime Lab in Atlanta for detailed forensic examination,”

I sure hope that GBI Crime Lab operates in a speedy fashion as it may take awhile if any arrests are to be made.

Anyone have any idea how quickly GBI operates on a general basis?

I know TN is terrible as a for instance from many cases here on WS.

On a general basis, it could take a month or so for them to begin analysis. In this particular case, they started on it today, per the article, so results should be available soon.

Thanks Speak Out that's encouraging. I'm hopeful if they do have a POI they are able to move quickly as Bonny's case is quickly gaining attention thankfully. She needs to be found and her family and friends must be out of their minds with questions and sadness. Not to mention her son, I feel for him the most in this horrible situation.

I haven't seen this posted yet. Polk County is about 2.5hrs west of Canon...on the other side of Atlanta.

Of course it is! I need to brush up on geography. I saw that headline from another link & confused Braswell & Braselton. Should I take my post down?

Well, 2.5 hours isn't THAT far away....he could have easliy driven there and back over night....right? Maybe they will release the identity soon.

Has this been posted?

body found in Polk County GA, authorities have not said male or female but think they know identity.

Thanks for posting. I think this is Polk County, TN. Here is a link to the story on the woman they recovered.

Sadly .... "he McMinn County Sheriff's office tells us they believe it was the body of Faith Corum who was reported missing on February 4th."

Thanks for clearing this up, I am sorry I didn't delete my 1st post tonight. That is an update to the article I read & it is TN not GA, the anti-virus re-started my computer & I did not go back.... ( cough medicine may have something to do with my mistakes tonight, so sorry)

I'm not familiar with this case (yet) but I saw this question and wanted to say that the GBI can turn around stuff fairly urgently when they have to. I followed the Jorelys Rivera case last year and they turned around some forensic evidence pretty quickly to make an arrest. I think it was just a few days from collecting the evidence. (Obviously not full on DNA turn around, but probably fingerprinting/blood type matches/fiber matches, etc.) Also, keep in mind, the perp left tons of fingerprints. :twocents:

ETA: I just checked and it was two days turnaround. But again, I think it was mostly the non-DNA stuff. They had a body, a crime scene, and a perp who did a very very bad job with clean-up and hiding evidence. (Not that the GBI didn't do a great job(!) but he was not a bright perp.)

Canon, GA is real close to Lake Hartwell with miles and miles of waterfront. I wonder if GBI is searching there. (Sorry if you all have already discussed this.)

Hoping & praying that this weekend they locate BC and arrest the individual(s) responsible for her going missing.

This article is from the Lake Hartwell Radio (@ link below).

It includes a little stronger wording than I have seen before. Ex: " (Sheriff) Thomas said significant evidence has been collected that leads his investigators and agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to believe that 33-year old Bonnie Anne Cooner did not leave her home voluntarily on the night of January 28th." So, this indicates that it was Monday night (Jan 28th) she left and went missing.

Something I hated to see written.... "So far, Cooner’s body has not been found, and Thomas would not say what that evidence entails."

"Ayers (GBI) said they (Crime Lab) are making Cooner’s disappearance a top priority."
“We have discussed this with the Crime Lab and it (the evidence) has been moved to the forefront” .

ALSO.... the BF's name on the arrest list is eye opening. Anyone know the actual date of charge or the back story?

An intoxicated Canon man was arrested in Hull recently after he allegedly threatened a woman and her son.

Brent James Shubert, 41, 367 Unawatti Road, was charged with terroristic threats and acts, reckless conduct and pedestrian under the influence of alcohol or drugs after he allegedly showed up at a woman’s home on Bedford Drive in Hull and threatened her and her son. Shubert was found by officers walking along Glenn Carrie Road in front of Gillispie Drive. He appeared intoxicated and had a pistol in his front pocket. The victims stated that he had showed up at their home and began “cussing and yelling” at them. When he was asked to leave, he allegedly threatened to kill them and kept reaching toward his pocket, saying he had a tape recorder. He allegedly left walking when he heard the approaching sirens.
