So LE haven't fingerprinted anything? Neither the house nor car? Who is the friend who saw Jenna driving her mother's car at 1030 and where was that? Did the friend say who was with Jenna? I asked some other questions earlier about the suitcase, whether clothes had been packed and taken and whether the housing group had been contacted as well, that she had been in touch with. When did you last speak and/or see Jenna yourself to arrange the vet visit?

You have been assuming but now you have a friend who witnessed her driving and a passenger with her. Has LE spoken with that friend to identify the passenger?

In this updated flyer, it states an unidentified male was with her in her mothers car. How that info was retrieved, is unknown to me.

If someone put eyes on a passenger, shouldn't there be a description beyond gender? Anything else would be helpful.

Subie, could you respond to my questions and these of others who have asked about the male passenger?
Finding it hard to follow when you or your family last had any contact with Jenna on that Friday also.

Ok back to the beginning. The poster states J went missing on Friday 18th. Subie states she spoke to a friend and sent a text at 02.30 a.m. on Saturday 19th And she was reported missing on the 20th. Why aren't LE considering that conversation and text as the last contact? What phone did she use for this contact as both phones are missing? Did the friend in SC say which phone was used when LE spoke to them?

I couldn't get this to work. Is there a MSM or LE link?

https://patch.com/georgia/atlanta/fbi-joins-search-atlanta-woman-who-went-missing-while-house-sitting is the MSM link (vs. above Facebook)

IIRC, there has been voice from LE to the media only once on this case. And it wasn't to a major media outlet, but a neighborhood outlet.

"Yesterday, her family reported that she had been found and is safe. But the family received bad information from DeKalb County Police, according to her brother.

“It sounds like they thought they had her last night and this morning they told us they made a mistake,” her brother said. “So we’re meeting with the detectives right now to figure out what actually happened.”

A spokesperson for DeKalb Police said there was no miscommunication.

“We never said that we found her,” the spokesperson said. “We are actively investigating.”

TY Bently but it is still not loading for me ATM. I did google JVD and FBI and patch came up in the search but still won't load. It is probably the security settings and the fact I am overseas, most likely. Hopefully another Media source will pick it up and I'll see it then.
(Unless it can be copied and pasted into the media thread - if we have one yet that is.)

Also, what happened with the police "error" was that an incorrect reg number was promulgated. Unfortunate, as that inadvertently gave time for whoever had the car to get it a long way away from Atlanta. Combined with the delay reporting her missing until the 20th as well, the perp has certainly had a head start IMO.

"ATLANTA, GA -- The FBI has joined the search for an Atlanta woman who went missing two weeks ago in Druid Hills, Patch has learned. Jenna Van Gelderen, 25, was supposed to house-sit for her parents but disappeared after texting a friend to say that she was going to bed." https://patch.com/georgia/atlanta/fbi-joins-search-atlanta-woman-who-went-missing-while-house-sitting By Craig Johnson (Patch Staff) - Updated September 4, 2017 4:47 pm ET

There are inconsistencies with timings again. The text was after 2am on this link and the brother turned up at 'daybreak'. I know it may seem petty but timings really are crucial. Overall, between the timing of the fuel stations, the time jenna was last seen, the last text, the time her brother checked on her, the time delay in reporting her missing hours have been lost. If at least one of these pieces were right and with evidence to back it up then you have somewhere to start and something to work on.

TY Bently - I just edited my previous post asking if it can go in to a media thread. Do we have one ?
Eta Answering my own question as I just looked - no we don't .

Yeah, Bently. Noticed that. It seemed like either reporters were rushed to get it out or just plain lazy not to include quotes from police handling the case. At least make an attempt to contact them. They could mention if they didn't respond in time.

Im so confused [emoji54]

First Jenna left a friends house at 11 but now spoke to a friend at 10:30. She texted a friend at 2am to say she was lying down but now thats 1:30-2am. @subie you initially turned up at 10:30 but now thats 10am. All these details are very significant.

Nothing seems to add up here. And now i see the FBI are not fully involved.

I am hoping the lack of info provided by the police to the public is because they know whats happened, and they are on to him or them. That is usually the case. They just need evidence, a motive at least.

All gut feeling and my own opinions

I don't ask this with any disrespect, but is patch considered MSM?

Uh, personally, I always regarded it as a little community blog. [emoji51]

Good question.

My experience at WS, Patch qualifies/is approved is considered MSM for allowance at Websleuths for using as a reference on posts. Whether it meets the true definition for some :dunno: Perhaps alert a mod on posts that don't fall into the TOS and if they are not within the rules of MSM, they will be deleted?

Patch is all over the country and I see it often on Websleuths (a lot of posts on the Hemy Neuman case for instance here in Atlanta)

ETA: I alerted on my own post #639 to ask mod

Media but not main stream maybe. Have to see if MSM pick it up. MSM would at least check with the FBI I would think. There is an FBI field office in Atlanta but nothing reported on their Twitter feed that I could see.

<respectfully snipped> Is there an FBI field office in Atlanta?

Yes, here is their website

2635 Century Parkway NE
Suite 400
Atlanta, GA 30345
Phone: (404) 679-9000

https://www.fbi.gov/contact-us/field-offices/atlanta

ETA: I also alerted on my own post #510 as to not perhaps being MSM

"Please contact your local FBI office or submit a tip electronically if you have information about:

Possible acts of terrorism, including violence, funding, or recruitment;
Persons sympathetic to terrorists or terrorist organizations;
Suspicious activities that you believe threaten national security, especially suspicious activities that involve foreign powers or foreign organizations;
Computer crimes or intrusions into computer networks, particularly those associated with national security;
Corrupt activities in state, local, or federal governments or in law enforcement;
Racial or hate crimes, human trafficking (involuntary servitude or slavery), or other civil rights crimes;
Organized crime activities;
Financial crimes that involve fraud, especially corporate fraud, mortgage fraud, or other investment fraud schemes where significant dollar losses have occurred, including those impacting you or your place of work;
Fraud in the health care industry;
Persons who have committed or are planning to commit bank robbery, kidnapping, extortion, or thefts of valuable art, large interstate shipments of goods, or monetary instruments; and activities of violent gangs.

See What We Investigate for more information on our areas of investigative responsibility. "

These are general observations:

1) Although I'm always eager for any and all info on WS cases, I understand why LE has advised Subie to be cautious about what he shares here. I think I even recommended it a couple of days ago.

2) Some of the discrepancies in what has been published here and elsewhere *might* be caused by updated information/evidence/investigation coming to light, which LE *might* not want to disclose at the moment.

3) I have on occasion, been involved "behind the scenes" with a case or two here at WS and elsewhere, working with a VI/family/other WSers and been privy to information which couldn't be shared publicly, however much we may have wanted to. Sometimes inaccuracy/speculation/conflicting information couldn't be corrected, however much we wanted to do so. It can be very frustrating.

It's worth thinking about...

N.B. I have NO insider info on Jenna.

Exactly - Georgia has the GBI for investigation, questioning and sample testing purposes. The FBI has specific jurisdiction. Was it definitely the FBI? The GBI usually handles missing person reports in Georgia

from Wiki: "The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is the U.S. state of Georgia's state bureau of investigation. It is an independent, statewide agency that provides assistance to Georgia's criminal justice system in the areas of criminal investigations, forensic laboratory services and computerized criminal justice information. Its headquarters is located in unincorporated DeKalb County, near Decatur and in Greater Atlanta.[SUP][4] [/SUP]"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georgia_Bureau_of_Investigation

So why wasn't it the GBI's job to step in instead of the FBI?

The address of the stolen article has been published by family in addition to admin of the FB, so I'm doing an overhead shot of the property.

It is the one with the white car in the back of the property on the bottom of the screen cap... the property to the right of the one highlighted in green color.

It appears an older home, built in 1929 per tax records, and does not have a garage perhaps that is attached like I originally thought (and mentioned they could walk in through the garage and not need a key to the house, this seems now I was off base).

It looks like a property where folks drive up a skinny driveway to the left of the house and park behind it, and perhaps there is a separate garage structure. I cannot find floorplans in the county records as some counties have.

I've seen a front view of the home, but don't have a link so perhaps someone else can post that to show no garage in front etc. Very hidden if someone drive in the driveway and goes to the back of the home :moo:
