Back to this case. She wasn't able to go back to visit her father but if she gets out of jail, she will be deported back.

"Porter said he decided not to seek the death penalty against Martinez because she is mentally ill. She has been diagnosed as schizophrenic, he said.

Because she pleaded guilty but mentally ill, Martinez will first be referred to the Department of Human Resources for treatment.

“She may never get out of that,” Porter said.

If she is determined to be fit enough, she will be sent to the prison system to serve her time, he said."

Mom who stabbed husband, 5 children spoke of promising them to 'evil force,' investigator's report reveals

...newly released investigator's report obtained by 11Alive's Joe Henke.

The report offers new details into the unsettling 2017 crime, for which Martinez is now serving a life sentence. They include how her husband, Martin Romero, woke up during the attack and pleaded with her “please don’t do this.”

Y****** B****, Martin Romero’s niece, said Martinez had made statements about wanting to offer her children to God in exchange for bringing her father back. Martinez’s niece, Edith Romero, told investigators that four days before the murders, she told the family she was going to “put to sleep” everyone in the house.

Martinez herself told police she went to a priest two weeks before the attack and told him there were “bad people chasing her.” The priest told her she was sick and it was all in her head.

At the crime scene, Bibles were placed on top of Martin Romero and by the children, who were all left together on the same bed."
