"The search warrant was obtained based on credible information and evidence gathered during the course of this investigation," said Porterdale Police Sgt. Michael Walden.

During a press briefing on Thursday afternoon, they confirmed that the search is for the remains of Morgan Bauer based on new information received recently and revealed that they have retrieved "items of evidentiary interest." Other than that, officials said they could not reveal additional information, and they aren't sure how long the search will take to complete because it is a large property.

"I would just ask for patience and of course they have waited so long and I'm asking them to wait a bit longer," Sgt. Walden said. "The professional men and women out there searching in the conditions they are, in they are trying. So, if they could just be patient with us a little bit, we will update them as soon as we know something and can tell them."

"[She’s in] shock," McClure said. "She’s not sure what’s going to come from this investigation, she’s not sure if that’s her daughter, she’s not sure of what they found because it’s so hush-hush."

McClure, who herself is a former dancer, started an organization called 4Sarah to reach out to young women and girls being taken advantage of and trafficked for sex.

"I’m actually a survivor of the sex industry," she said. "I worked in that lifestyle for a little over six years. 20 years ago today I actually walked away from it."

"There are thousands of girls in Georgia that are in the sex industry. That might mean they’re just a dancer, or they might be an escort, but every day their life is at risk."

"She’s mostly wanting people to know that she’s never going to give up looking for her daughter, and she has not through the 7 1/2 years," McClure said. "She’s been out there searching and constantly keeping her story alive.

The current owners of the property are cooperating with the investigation, according to officials. There are multiple agencies, including Porterdale Police Department, Peoria Police Department (Illinois), Newton County Sheriff's Office, Atlanta Police Department, GBI and FBI, involved in the investigation

Why would the Peoria, IL PD be involved? Every other agency is in/associated with the location in Georgia. Why Peoria, Illinois?

“She had left work in Gainesville and was not heard from again,” Sgt. Michael Anthony Walden with the Porterdale Police said. “Over time information becomes clearer and locations become clearer.”

In an exclusive interview with Channel 2 Action News in 2017, Bauer’s mother, Sherri Sichmeller, said her daughter left their small town in search of a new, independent life. She had $20 to her name and was expecting a tax refund when she flew to Atlanta. Her plans didn’t work out.

“She was planning on staying with somebody that she had talked to on Craigslist,” said Sichmeller, who added the agreement included cleaning house for the roommates until Bauer got a job.

The arrangement lasted all of one night, Sichmeller said. Text message conversations between Bauer and her best friend indicated a falling out of sorts between the roommates.

“From what I understand she’d left her clothes there because she didn’t know what to do,” said Sichmeller. “And then she went to go try to find a place to stay, a hotel, and that’s what brought her to dancing.”

“You know, like I said, we don’t (often) see Caucasian women over there at that club, and I asked her if she was dancing or bartending and she said that she was dancing over there,” said Kandice Avery.

On Thursday, Channel 2′s Audrey Washington was able to confirm that some people reported seeing Bauer in the Porterdale area before she vanished.

Washington asked why police from Illinois were involved in the investigation.

“I don’t have the specifics, nor can I mention it at this time because it’s an ongoing development at this time,” Walden said.

So does that mean whoever took her crossed state lines?

Or did they find evidence in other states?

“The search warrant is based on new information that has come to light,” Porterdale Police Officer Sgt. Michael A. Walden said in a July 27 news conference. The search had resulted in “items of evidentiary interest,” Walden said.

“One thing that everybody is clear about, she was physically in town,” Walden said.

Police in Porterdale, Georgia posted Saturday night that Johnathan Alexander Warren was arrested in Los Angeles. He’s charged with murder, aggravated assault, concealing death and tampering with evidence.

Police also announced that Katelyn Goble was arrested in Peoria, Illinois. She’s also charged with concealing death and tampering with evidence.

Trying to look up more about those arrested.

I found a 2012 jail log (Morgan Bauer disappeared in 2016) from Covington, Newton County, GA, that lists one of the arrested:

"Jonathan Alexander Warren, 22, 2 South Broad St., Porterdale, Sept. 26. Fleeing or attempting to elude police officer, driving without headlights in the dark, driving while license suspended or revoked first offense, reckless driving."

Warren is currently being held in Los Angeles County, no bail. Birth date 11/17/89.

Based on that he has been booked into Los Angeles County other times, including April of this year where he apparently was given 150 days. Not sure for what.

Not sure that links will take you to the individual pages. Go to the link above and enter: Warren, Jonathan with the birth date 11/17/1989.

Also, if you do a search for Jonathan Warren in Newton County, GA, jail records, it looks like he has a few arrests there from 2007 to 20014.

Go to the jail search page, click on "Inmates by Booking Date", delete the date ranges (leave the boxes blank), check the box under it (to include previous inmates in the search), & then search for Jonathan Warren.

“On the 25th into that night, she was dancing at Top of Gainesville,” Keenan said. “She left and we know she left with some people. They stated they dropped her off at a Citgo gas station in Covington, Georgia.”

“I didn’t want her to really go to Atlanta. It was something that was really worrying me,” Keenan told Dateline. “But Morgan does everything 100%. She’s a ‘go big’ kind of girl.”

“She was planning on staying with somebody that she had talked to on Craigslist,” the mother told WSB.

Having arrived there initially unemployed, Bauer was supposed to clean the home for the roommates until she got a job, but the roommates had some sort of falling out.

“From what I understand she’d left her clothes there because she didn’t know what to do,” said Keenan. “And then she went to go try to find a place to stay, a hotel, and that’s what brought her to dancing.”

I know Morgan as an acquaintance- she’s a friend of my ‘stepdaughter’. Morgan used to wait on us, and I still remember finding out she’d gone missing. Now to see photos of where they’re searching for her remains, 2 people in custody for her homicide, it’s surreal. I honestly never thought her family was going to have answers because all of the scant info that was known, it seemed far too little and too long ago.

Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, rest in peace.
