The state's next witness is Detective Jason Teague. Teague works at APD and works undercover so he won't be shown on camera.


Teague has been an electronic surveillance technician since 2009.

Within minutes of the shooting, APD officers can be seen arriving to the scene and begin investigating.


After a lengthy break, Glanville said they are done for the day and Teague will return on Friday to finish his testimony.When Keith Adams asked what was going on Thursday, Glanville said the state will be calling additional witnesses.


It appears that the internet went out at the courthouse so they are done for the day.


Detective Teague is not available tomorrow because of a family matter.Glanville asked the state to have witnesses ready tomorrow just in case they still don’t have Internet.



Glanville asked Steel about Rayshawn Bennett (YFN Lucci) and Brian "Birdman" Williams and whether they would be available to testify.Steel said Bennett is in custody (after taking a plea deal earlier this year in his RICO case).


Steel said he has spoken to Birdman and is available to testify, including the fact that Birdman is on the state's witness list.This came up during argument about whether Donovan Thomas' father, Donovan Thomas Sr., will testify and what he will testify about.


The state is trying to introduce stuff Donovan Thomas told his father before he was killed by having Donovan Thomas Sr. testify during the trial.

It does seem that Marquavious Huey’s attorney is not present in the courtroom right now but there does appear to be a laptop computer next to Huey.Judge Glanville hasn’t said what is holding up court but they can’t continue without Huey’s representative.


Huey’s attorney, who is not Careton Matthews today, has taken her seat next to Huey.Court is now starting.


First state witness of the day is Sammy Davis, who is testifying about the 2015 fatal shooting of Donovan Thomas.


Davis testified that he knew Donovan “Nut” Thomas and knew him for years.


Davis testified that he saw Thomas and YFN Lucci at the barbershop. Davis would wash Thomas’ car often and considered him a friend.


Davis testified that he saw Donovan Thomas on Jan. 10, 2015 and even washed Thomas' car that day.


Davis is describing where he was standing and where Donovan Thomas was standing when the shooting occurred.


Davis is now talking about the moments after the shooting.


Assistant District Attorney Seth Brown, who is questioning Davis, just asked Glanville to approach the bench to discuss something but Glanville denied his request and told him to continue asking questions.


At times, Brown asks for Glanville to give him a bit of time to discuss something with ADA Hylton and Chief Deputy DA Love, who are sitting at different tables in the courtroom.


Davis is done testifying and won't be called back.


I went back home during the break but the state’s next witness is Derrick Wise, who is a barber at the barbershop near where the Donovan Thomas shooting took place.

Lunch break until 2:30 p.m.


After a lunch break that extended 30 minutes, Wise was permanently excused as a witness.State’s next witness is Reginald Hendricks.


Hendricks is done and won't have to come back as a witness. Next state witness is Dr. Michael Heninger, who retired in 2023 from the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office and now works part-time at the DeKalb County Medical Examiner's Office.


The state plans to introduce Donovan Thomas' autopsy photos through Heninger and show them to the jury. The photos will not be shown on camera, it's my understanding.

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Witness testimony in Young ’s trial was set to resume at 1 p.m. on Friday before a downtown Atlanta water main break impacted thousands of residents, businesses and government facilities.

“As a result of a major water main break in the City of Atlanta, water service has been interrupted in a large area of the city,” according to a social media post by Fulton County. “All Fulton County facilities in the downtown area will close this afternoon effective immediately.”

Did I hear Judge correctly? A full day tomorrow - 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.? Hope things pick up tomorrow. I am weary of watching repeated video viewings of the barbershop parking lot (where Thomas Donovan was shot down).
