What I remember without a link, she was dressed in plain clothes for the day, he appeared to have been getting ready for his first cup of coffee. I dont know if they put a routine other than her routine of crossword puzzles, was one by the chair she'd been working?

I do know as you do, it was Derby party day so all routines were probalby out the window except breakfast, maybe they go to the waffle house or somewhere on a regular basis for breakfast, alot of retirees find a favorite breakfast "pub" lol....Dont recall any mention of food stuffs, just coffee, probably did do brunch or later breaksfast out somewhere

They didnt have a pool, i think for some reason there was confusion on that part. Cant remember why... He did take walks on the greens and was seen walking that week but dont recall if it was morning or evening

And there were 2 cars in the driveway, assuming both drove but IDK

That's all right. I don't really think I was wanting an answer to any of the questions. I was just trying to place a time when the crime could have happened. I wish they would release some new information to get this case on the front burner again.

I think the crossword puzzle was on the kitchen table in a folded up newspaper which may have been from Friday morning. They may not have worked it until Saturday morning.
I remember a lot of discussion about a pool too. I was thinking we found it in pictures of the on the left side of the back yard (lakeside) looking in a direction from the dock. Here's a link that mentions the pool, but I also remember discussion about the description of the house with a pool being in error.

I ran across some old articles that might be of interest, especially to newcomers who don't want to go through all of the threads. These links still work.

Just keeping the timeline as current as known evidence indicates.......these quotes clipped from the May 6, 2015, Atlanta Magazine article.

Russ Dermond was a reader, a walker. Someone reported seeing him strolling the golf course near his house on Friday, May 2, four days before his body was discovered. It may have been the last time anyone but his wife and his killer saw him alive.

On Carolyn Drive, a mile and a half into the subdivision, Sills stopped at a cream stucco four-bedroom house. Two American flags were tacked to the mailbox. The front yard was trimmed in crape myrtles, boxwoods, and pine straw. In the driveway was that day’s edition of USA Today. The previous day’s as well. There, in a shaded cul-de-sac that backs up to the water, was the neighbor who had discovered the death. It had been days since he’d seen or heard from the elderly couple who lived in the house. The neighbor had phoned them several times. Nothing. So he’d gone over to check. The door was unlocked.

The garage was dimly lit, but the white walls helped Sills see. On the floor between a Lincoln Town Car and a Lexus SUV was a man’s body on its back. The man’s age was hard to guess—because the body had no head. It had been cut off. And it was gone.

Shirley, who played bridge and was a crossword whiz, had worked a puzzle in that Friday’s USA Today. It was still on the kitchen table. The couple’s Saturday mail was in the mailbox out front.

So I think it is clear no cars were in the driveway; rather, the cars were in the garage. I also think the Dermonds were murdered Saturday morning.

Reynolds Plantation just like other retirement communities often charge a hoa fee monthly which provides services and protection among other things. If the Dermond family wanted they could sue the association for not repairing the security camera

OH gotcha, thank you.....And have they tried? If not they dont seem very interested in getting this solved in any way shape or form and seem care less in attitude if they didnt atleast investigate this possibility tho it may not have gotten very far since there was no forced entry.

Yes the garage is how I remember it.........I want a podcast dont on this case, THAT would be VERY interesting, we'd have way more inforamtion.........I wonder if Sills would try to stop one from being done? He doesnt seem to want the community to know anything, clearly in the Grinstead case the Podcast done by Payne Lindsey helped to stir things up and get people talking, probably gave information no one ever knew that helped solve this case somehow!!

I would like to get others involved in this what would be the best link from the beginning to now ? I have been searching for a timeline link I guess you would call it.

HA! I dont know but I just read this site:

http://jimfishertruecrime.blogspot.com/2014/05/who-murdered-and-decapitated-88-year.html

and the folllwing from the above link is not true........they have not interviewed every potential suspect.......the one or ones that did this either havent been interviewed or like Tara Grinsteads case, were never on the "radar" of SS..........or they DID interview them and they slipped thru his fingers..........either way, the potential suspect is unknown to SS I guess.....

According to the sheriff, every potential suspect questioned in the investigation had been cleared. The sheriff said he believed the murders had been pre-meditated and planned. "You can't make me believe there was any kind of randomness to this crime. It bothers me a great deal that someone has committed such a heinous crime and they're still out there."

This has a pretty good break down

Talking about getting others involved, they've all gone to sleep on this sight, no offense, just saying it's cold.......but it doesnt have to be

I WOULD LOVE to see Payne Lindsey do a podcast on this case.........gah can you imagine..........but then SS will probalby try to shut it down narcissist that he is, he doesnt want any help on this apparently.....esp not the GBI........well and I thought initially the GBI helped solve the TG case but apparently the guy that did it or guys, werent even on their "radar" or persons of interest........so they did nothing to solve that case but there is WAY more to that story I feel............but until the podcast on it came out it was dead in the w.........it was stagnant..........no one had a clue! And that guy was living right under their noses most of the years past..............SOOO........like I said, would love to see something done like that on this case, Maurice GOdwin has investigated MANY high profile cases but not ever looked into this one ...........SS needs help on this and he wont admit it

Maybe Sills will give us an update for the anniversary but if he does it will probably be the same babble for the last 3 years

In Jonnyrock's post above regarding the Atlanta Magazine article, it states that the day's USA Today was in the driveway, as well as the issue from the day before. Isn't USA Today only published Mon-Fri? So does that mean Monday's and Friday's were in the driveway?

I think a reference was made to a Friday crossword puzzle half finished. I'd guess it was a Sunday local edition and a Monday USA Today. And yes, USA Today only Monday through Friday.

Yes I read that article before. He knows a lot more than he is saying based on other articles too. i'm hoping he will let another clue slip out in May.

Had you read the article watcher9 posted for you? What did you make of it?

I can't remember which link but Sills said Mr Dermond was shot.. He also mentioned in an interview he believes the head is in the area where Mrs Dermond was found. I often read each article multiple times because he seems to throw out clues that I sometimes miss on the 1st read. The mentioned link I had read once before but somehow didn't catch it. He keeps throwing us a bone to gnaw on so i'm really hoping for the anniversary he gives us another. If I find the link I will post it

It probably was both the Monday and Tuesday editions of the USA today. The bodies were not found until after the paper was delivered on Tuesday.

I hope so, one...at...the....time LOL..........thats why his interviews or statements seem so meandering...........I remember vaguely about a shot but I THINK in another interview he said he was not?? DOes anyone remember or have an article of such? I think the coroner determined he was bludgeoned, HOW...IDK......without the head........oh yeah they searched down there with underwater sonar for it but nothing discovered, tho Im sure with trees and old roots under might be hard to see on the other hand, might have dropped it along the way or it got pulled towards the dam possibly?? But I think it's in the lake too, wish theyd lower Oconee the way they do sinclair for dock and seawall repairs and cleanup etc.

They didn't do a good enough job searching apparently. I noticed from pictures there looks to be a lot of dirt in the back yard towards the dock. Wonder if there were any foot prints and how many different sets of foot prints were found. This would give them a better idea of how many people might have been involved. Also on a different note I read an old article where Sills said a close family member outright lied TO him during an interview , he also let it slip it was a she. I know he said the kids were very helpful during the investigation so this was this woman living near the dermonds? Was it a grand daughter? A Neice?

87 and 88 year olds as they were i'm sure had a visiting nurse or caretaker for that large house maybe one of them is the female ..
