The bewildering question that stands out in my mind is why would the killer take the risk of removing a body from the crime scene rather than simply leaving it?

RESPECTFULLY SNIPPED FOR SPACE

Hmmmm.....

RESPECTFULLY SNIPPED FOR SPACE

Maybe the killer removed one body from the crime scene to do exactly what it is doing.................................................
keeping cops busy.

a lot of things that are written on this site would not hold true for me... The things you guys focus on.

I sometime where my pajama's all day. I work from home. Even if i decide to go to a small store.. Still pj's. I put a coat over them. So you base my murder on my clothes, it may throw you way off.

I sometimes eat soup/pizza/salad for breakfast. I know it is weird but i do... So if check the contents of my stomach... It will throw you way off.

I don't get along with a few family members of my husband... If you checked me out on fb you would know who they were... Look there.

I have 3 friends that i talk to everyday... If they don't hear from me... They would send in the troops!

i'm still in my everyday clothes

Even though LE lost the first 48 hours, I'm glad none of the Dermonds' elderly friends walked in on this while the perps were still on the property.

Although this is not my primary theory (see my blog), I have wondered about the Nuwabian raid.

Was any of the land owned by the Nuwabian's annexed to GW?

Is any of the land adjacent to GW?

Did Nuwabian land get purchased by anyone connected to GW?

Have there ever been any retaliatory responses to that chapter of history?

I had that thought about 30 minutes ago. At one point, didn't the Nuwabians want to open a casino and went "American Indian"? And my mind went to indians cutting off the heads of their enemies. (at least in the movies I saw growing up :blushing:) I was considering perhaps this was a random murder perhaps that was knowingly done to "get back" at the sheriff.

Hmmmm. Late night mind wandering....but thanks for the segue way to get that out and mention it.

ETA: Just read the most recent article which states " The sheriff has all but eliminated the idea that some sort of ritualistic cult was involved. “If that was the case, they’d want us to know,” he said."

The Nuwabian compound was on the opposite end of the county. I LONG way away. No connection.

And both in the jurisdiction of the sheriff..... (this comment to be taken with my above post)

ETA: Changed "but both" to "and both" as not disagreeing with above poster...just was adding as a comment to my above post as reference

sills said that anything that is normally taken is still there

SO, WHAT would someone have taken, something that no one knew was there..............but the killers

Maybe the message was for Sills?

Maybe the connection is someone in prison with MD's killer, who also happens to have been at the Nuwabean compound?

So the Sheriff says they found additional surveillance videos? WOW.

Is the simple answer that SD had been the target for sexual assault?

Assaults on elderly women are not unheard of.
If this was the case, it becomes much more understandable that the killer had no option but to get rid of the body because of the DNA signature.

RSBM / BBM:

Yes, as evident in this recent horrifying case of the murder and likely sexual assault of an elderly woman, 77 year old Julia Ann Mudgett, by an RSO (see link to her thread on WS below). She lived in Hollywood, SC, approx a 4 hour drive from Putnam County, GA. :( (Sorry if this has already been mentioned; I have had to take a break from this case for my own sanity, and have not read every post, but am so glad to see all of you keeping this case active!)

Has the perp in Ms. Mudgett's case been ruled out?

Bless all these elderly folks. Really, really horrible.

That was the thought that has been crossing my mind again and again tonight.

O/T - Just saw you are from Spain! What memories from when I took my mother for a dream trip as her entire life she wanted to go. I had never considered traveling there as it was not on my bucket list until I learned it was on my mother's list - Ubeda, Cordeba, Malaga, Grendada, Toledo, Seville, Madrid, Segovia. We stayed in old castles and Paradors..... love your country! (oh, and luvvvvvv your men as they are very handsome :giggle: :blushing:)

:seeya:

Most elderly people keep cash on hand. How would anyone other than the two of them know if they did? Or, how much or where it was kept?

My mother had several secret hiding places. So, just because the usual things that are taken were not, does not mean nothing was taken to me. The perp would not want anything that would identify him back to the Dermonds. Except the head, for whatever statement he was sending!

Does anyone know if phone records where checked? TIA

The theory of the boat ride , killing them on the boat, bringing Mr. D. back to the house is just too much back and forth for me. Once the perps left the property, it would be risky to return with a dead person to get off the boat, up the hill, and into the garage, while leaving another dead person on the boat. Anyway you twist or turn this, it doesn't work in my brain.

Perps leaving the scene of a crime and then returning is not a smart idea. If this is what happened, then my suspicion is the person is very close to the Dermonds and had no fear of returning.

Does anyone know if phone records where checked? TIA

I would imagine so.
He is being VERY thorough.

Nothing has surfaced that would indicate the Dermonds ever associated with such people.

“I’ve looked at every check he’s written the last 10 years, every credit card receipt, and there’s nothing that looks out of the ordinary or unusual,” Sills said.

“They were at least minimally acquainted with whoever did this,” Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Tuesday. “That’s an assumption, coupled with some physical evidence.”

He has physical evidence!
He thinks they were at least minimally acquainted. So my thought process is they were being neighborly to this person?
Polite?-or course they were!

And all my 100 questions start.
Did they offer him a soda?
A glass of sweet tea?

I have no idea what physical evidence he could have. Whatever it is, it sounds like he might have taken them off guard.

Just a thought: Could they retrieve any DNA from the questionnaires? I don't know how all that works, but it seems like it might be possible. Sorry if this is a dumb question/comment!

REPORTER---

Sheriff---

Any neighbors think their boat was used without permission?

sheriff also said.....

Reviewing \ALL surveillance tapes from neighbors are being reviewed by the FBI.
Checking all neighbors and neighborhood worker's backgrounds....

The part about a boat "absolutely" being used...! Gosh, makes me think MAYBE -- and certainly HOPE -- that someone sighted a boat doing something unusual near where Mrs. D. was found during the pertinent timeframe.
