The Murder of Janet Abaroa... Over a Month...
New blog entry up. Much of it regular readers here will already know, but I do state some things more forthrightly than I have perhaps, in the past.
Mr. A.
Great Blog.......have some questions/thoughts
:
"But then there is the crime he is accused of; embezzling from his former employer, Eurosport, out of Hillsborough, North Carolina. I have been told recently that Raven was actually accused of embezzling $9,000 worth of goods, not money -- perhaps even the shirt pictured at left with the snarky fake name "P. NESS" on it. He has a court date for a hearing on these charges -- June 10th, 2005."
Wouldn't it be public record what he stole? It would make sense that it would be listed on the complaint.
"According to an e-mail from Durham reporter Eric Olson
(not the Eric Olsen of blogcritics.org) my websleuths friend "golfmom" forwarded, Raven has to appear for that court date:

Subject: RE: Abaroa case question and information
I just spoke with the assistant district attorney handling the embezzlement cases in Orange County. She told me that is not the case at all. All the charges remain pending for a court date of June 10. At that point, the ADA (Jacqueline Perez) is simply meeting with his attorney. There is nothing else planned aside from that date at this point.
Hope that clarifies things for you. But if not, please feel free to write again if you have further questions.

If that is the case, then Raven surely could not be planning, as another e-mail source stated, to head to Maine to stay with an Uncle soon, and then to Utah to stay with his sister. Would that not constitute an unlawful flight from prosecution? It likely would -- but that information did not come from anyone in the immediate family so it could be erroneous or due to some kind of misunderstanding."
IMO, Raven could leave NC and head to Virginia, Maine or Utah or wherever as long as he shows up to the Court dates and isn't charged with the murder of Janet Abaroa. It doesn't seem to me that it would be an unlawful flight from prosecution if he appeared in Court when he was ordered to. IMO, if Raven is making these travel plans, he believes his attorney will be handling the embezzlement charges and will appear when necessary AND he believes he is not a suspect in the murder of his wife.
The other item that doesn't make sense to me is that at the court hearing, the ADA is simply meeting with the attorney. Does that mean Raven doesn't have to appear? Someone would have to let the Court know what the status of the case is, whether it's a continuance in order to work out a deal or whether they are moving forward with prosecution. The case file should show the status.........ok, now that we have the case numbers, we need someone to go to the Court house and pull the file to get some answers here:banghead: !!!!!!
