This worries me. Are all the branches moving in different directions again? I sure hope not!
On the other hand, real people made the affidavits.

Interesting that, in the 2nd affidavit, the "swinger" witness mentions a Christmas Tree, Valentines Day , a belt, a seashell on a bookcase, a fire in a barrel in the back of the house...all things that anyone following this case would know from media reports.Copies of the redacted affidavits.

I don't recall that.Yes, per John Ray, she said she called PD hotlines more than once.
This post reminded me:
Didn’t, Shannon lock herself in Brewer’s bathroom, too?
Bbm''Ray said the first witness made a claim that Heuermann belonged to a “swingers club,” Le Trapeze, which was based in Midtown Manhattan, not far from where Heuermann worked as an architect. The witness said Heuermann had posted on a wall at Le Trapeze 27 years ago, asking for a sexual encounter at his Massapequa Park home.Witness claims off-duty cop took Gilgo victim to Rex Heuermann’s Massapequa Park home in 1996: affidavit

The woman said her boyfriend in 1996 was an NYPD detective, referred to in a sworn affidavit as R.W.''
“In February 1996, R.W. picked up a woman I believe to be Karen Vergata in New York City, on the way to the Heuermann house,” the alleged witness said. “She was hungry and homeless.”
''Karen went downstairs,” the witness wrote. “I stayed upstairs. My partner, who I believe was bisexual, kept disappearing. I believed he was elsewhere in the house, having sex with Rex. I believe I had sex with Rex as well. I never went downstairs.”
The witness said when she and the off-duty detective left Heuermann’s house, “The woman I believe to be Karen suddenly ran outside, naked, and ran about by the garage. RW had gone to the back of the house to look for his belt, but he was then back in the car. RW told me not to worry about her, that she was okay, they were only playing a game. We left without her. I felt uneasy that we left without the woman.”
Is it possible they want his wife to say more or pressure her to speak to them? If they release these tidbits about her being home when xyz was going on, then maybe she can connect the dots and realize she should bring forth other info if she knows it and if she truly wasn't involved in his sick games and was afraid, maybe this will nudge her to speak up if she has more info. It was surprising to learn she was home and present for some things, but those other little parts about she was afraid of him, he took care of her.. sounds somewhat arranged almost. Maybe she looked the other way on the sex workers to keep the peace and keep her family. If she ever thought something else could be going on maybe she needed this to get her to speak up?I wonder why they released this info. Is it to give others confidence or assurance about coming forward?
I am so surprised about the potential connection to Shannan. It seemed completely unrelated except for the location.
So much is implied by JR and these affidavits. He implies that a cop delivered KV to RH's house. That AE was complicit and racist. I don't want any of these implications to compromise trials. Maybe LE knows RH is going to plead guilty?
RW was the boyfriend of the witness, not RexBbm
To look for his belt...
So they just randomly picked Karen up of the side of the road and took her to a strangers house??Copies of the redacted affidavits.

Oh goodness wasn't there a belt buckle though that was a possible RW.. but they said could be RH initials.RW was the boyfriend of the witness, not Rex
It does seem like something stinks and it’s not John Ray and Rodney Harrison. Is the commissioner’s an elected term limited position?I've been sitting with all of this new information all night. Some thoughts:
The reason Heuermann is sitting in a jail cell right now is because of Rodney Harrison. Harrison formed the task force within weeks of getting the job and then the task force had Heuermanns name within the month.
We learn today that one of the witnesses, who signed an affidavit, was taken to Heuermanns house along with Karen Vergata by a NYPD narcotics cop. Fun fact: Rodney Harrison is a former NYPD undercover narcotics cop. I know the witness says that they found Heuermann's house from a listing at the singers club but who saw that listing - the cop? Had he been there before? Why would this cop want to leave Karen Vergata who was clearly in distress according to the witness.
The moonlighting cab driver witness claims Heuermann tried to scam Shannan Gilbert and then she helped Shannan escape. Heuermann knew he had been seen and possibly requested the driver later on - telling her he was going to kill her. Was this after Shannan was murdered? Did Heuermann go over the events in his head and think this witness was the one who could possibly link him with Shannan? Heuermann had what appeared to be a police lanyard - fake or a trinket from a cop friend?
Shannan ending up at J Brewer's house in Oak Beach - rumors of it being a party house. Possibly swingers parties? Ex SCPD James Burke attended sex parties in Oak Beach. Heuermann said to be a swinger by multiple witnesses. Again, NYPD cop driving sex workers out to Heuermann's house and leaving them there. SCPD head Spota covering for Burke bungling this case for years.
NYPD/SCPD... Heuermann... Am I losing my mind or is there a bit of a pipeline starting to appear.
Come November, Rodney Harrison is most likely out of a job. The front runner for County Executive is Ed Romaine (R) and most likely will replace Harrison with someone who isn't a city slicker and also *looks* more like the politicians out in Suffolk - if you catch my drift. Harrison is the first black commissioner in the SCPDs history. He was also the first black Chief of Detectives in NYPDs 200 years.
I don't think I'm going out on a limb here by saying Suffolk County DA Tierney does not like Rodney Harrison. I'm very familiar with the politics around these parts. Tierney's office releasing a statement making it look like Harrison has gone rogue from the investigation when in reality Harrison is the one that got things moving in the first place for the very first time. Now we have Attorney John Ray and Commissioner Rodney Harrison telling potential witnesses they can come to them if they don't trust the SCPD/NYPD/Task force and then we have the task force and SCPD telling potential witnesses, no, only come to us.
Wow.
I am hoping I am wrong but, come November, this case may stall. I don't like any of this one bit. That and after this press conference, I am sure there are more bodies out on LI. I want to know which woods Heuermann told the taxi driver to take them to.
Well, Harrison was never a part of the past corrupt SCPD or part of Spota’s crew but RM, he has a history Re: the old Suffolk County political machine. I know who I believe.RM on Dan Abrams 10/18 mentions RH will not be the police commissioner next year.
John Ray on Banfield 10/18. Wish they had more time to talk, maybe he will be back on tonight.
The womens affadavits swear they have already given their information to SCPD. They never bothered to interview them.I have some concerns about Harrison choosing to stand next to John Ray publicly on this matter. Check out every story ? Yes. Appear to give credence to every story in a public way ? NOT wise, imo. I'll leave it at that.
Yes I know what you mean .View attachment 454333
This doesnt make a ton of sense to me
I recall her hiding behind a couch.I don't recall that.
So coincidental how strong incriminating evidence against Heuermann sat buried in files for 12 years. The witness who provided it was also frustrated that SCPD never followed up on it. Just one of many witnesses whose information was ignored and discredited, but DNA and digital data proved it to be true.I've been sitting with all of this new information all night. Some thoughts:

I have a feeling that further investigations of these new witnesses information will also validate their stories. Will it just be buried again after November?
I wonder if the NYT will take a position in favor of Suffolk County investigating all the new-ish tips that came in. Will they ask that SCPD follow up these leads and resolve the other cases of murdered women in the LISK group?

During the 13 years this case went without an arrest, what chance would there be that the killer never tried something else like it? Would someone like him just stop at four? Tierney has seen all the suspect’s Web searches and has his own assessment of the man. “I would say that the interest and the obsession never left,” he said.
Tierney has announced he will try the case against Heuermann personally — a district attorney going into court to argue before a jury the most notorious serial-killer trial in a generation. All eyes will be on Suffolk County again. What happens next is a chance to make up, at least partly, for the years when this case was in such disarray — and Suffolk County’s law enforcement culture seemed all too willing to forget it ever happened.
