#297 - he was selling me his BMw you said you found my check in his house - Ineed if that check will be deposited anytime soon . . .

No

honestly I trashed his car - he took it so well - we were talking to insurance and lawyers and uhaul - it was just money - it was what I would pay him back
he was going to hold title until I paid it off in full.

I sent a email - agree to this - he said you didn't mention insurance

I don't know what is going on with his car -
It is probably collecting dust - I emailed his sister Tenisha - I offered condolences - I owe Travis this money - she didn't get back to me. . .I realize that Mike Chapman is executor of his will - I called him yesterday - just email me all the info you have on that

End of day - see you tomorrow

I hope these work. :)

The death penalty info above is outdated. The jury now must decide "the presence or absence of aggravating factors" required by the law for the imposition of the death penalty. Previously, the trial judge, sitting alone, made this determination. Sorry, and thanks.

Just thinking about her cleaning up...there is a photo of another bathroom in the house with photo tag #3 marking something on the vanity under the sink. Looks like there is a shower in that bathroom in one of the other photos from the Facebook site...maybe a white shower curtain next to the toilet? I just can't imagine her showering in that bathroom with TA - but then again, after everything else that she did, I guess I wouldn't put it past her!

First post for me - trying to add the photo from the Facebook site, but not sure if it will work or not!

Cross examination

--Defence: "if someone paid with cash there wouldn't be a credit card number on there would there?" Mendez: "no".
--Defence showing the detective a receipt from Washington Mutual in Monteray, deposit of $100 to an account ending in 7418. Then shows the detective another receipt with a different account number. Detective was not shown any other documents regarding the deposits.

January 10, 2013 morning

State calls Lisa Perry, works for the city of Mesa, PD and she is a forensic scientist and she works in the Biology section (DNA, bodily fluids, etc. collects samples and sends them on for analysis).

--Perry attended to the TA crime scene June 10, 2008 and was there for two days.
--She was looking at blood stains to see if she could determine how they got there.
--Focus was the master bathroom. Focus was the bathroom because that was where the blood was.
--Perry takes samples and prepares them for DNA analysis. Example, swabbing or cutting material and sending them to the lab. Perry can conduct a presumptive test for blood at the scene. Swabs were taken by others who were at the scene. Perry did a few of the prelimary color tests.
--Downstairs restroom, sink in the downstairs restroom, tile at the base of the stairs, washing machine.
--One stain on the top of the washing machine that was positive. Perry swabbed the machine but somebody else put the numbers on the machine.
--In the downstairs bathroom she did a swab in the sink that was positive.
--swab of the downstairs cabinet was negative.
--In the master bathroom presumptive testing was not done due to the volumne of blood and with her training she knew it was blood.
--At the lab, Perry did a swab of the wall from the master bedroom. The screening was negative for blood. Is blood the only biological substance that can be tested for DNA? Answer is "no". Saliva, sperm, and skin cells would have DNA. Just because there isn't blood doesn't mean there isn't DNA.
--Perry can offer opionions on the type of pattern and what may have caused it. There are passive patterns and active patterns. Passive are drops acting by gravity alone. Active is projected blood, ejection of a volume of blood due to a force or a pressure. Example is a strike or a weapon is used. Blood in one's airways can cause an active projection. Sizes of the stains can determine the force and can then be categorized as low, medium, and high velocity. Spatter is action to a liquid blood source. Eg. If there is blood on a substance and something touches it, it is called a transfer stain. There are wipe stains and swipe stains.
--Water can affect the crime scene. Can dilute the blood and affect the patterns.
#83 Photo of body of TA. There is a blood stain on the wall? Appears to be flowing down the wall, gravity has acted upon it.
#88 & #89, Toilet, on the door frame there is a blood stain. On the toilet and the bottom of the frame is a stain showing impact to a blood source. The droplets are small and they do not travel very far. The blood source would have been in close proximity. These stains are about 12" down meaning the blood source was low, blood impacted the wall at a 90 degree angle.
#90, With respect to the toilet, same type of stains, rounded drops, probably hit at a 90 degree angle. Same small type of stains at the same height. Blood source was close. The drops are in different areas but could be from more than one event or they could be from one strike to the blood source.
Floormat, Tests were not done at the scene. Tests were done at the lab. Presumptive test for blood, positive for blood all over the bottom of the mat. Blood is throughout the bottom consistent with the mat being moved over blood or blood mixed with water going under the mat.
(interrupted by another phone call and missed some testimony)
--photo of large accumulation of blood. The source of the blood was probably in one position and the blood passively flowed out by gravity. Water activity may have played a role. For a large blood stain to appear the blood source
#91 Photo of eastern wall of the exterior of the toilet wall, on the wall there were downward stains. Impact to a blood source would have caused this type of stain. More than one strike or the same strike? Blood did not go through the wall so it was caused by more than one strike. No indication how many strikes.

Hi WS'ers,
I made up a map to give some perspective of how far Jodi drove in the days she had the rent car.
I also added Monterey, CA as it was mentioned that some of the receipts were from that location.
Also, another route in pink, (besides what Google suggested) from Mesa to West Jordan (Salt Lake City), Utah.

Hope it's useful to some.

Afternoon testimony

#116, Linen closet to the north of the sink area
#117, accumulation of blood at the edge of the linen closet
The fact that there is blood in different areas indicates the blood source was moving. Cannot say how fast the source was moving.
#118, Box in the linen closet that shows that bloody water was wicked up into the box. How can that be accomplished? There are some diluted blood stains in the closet. Cannot comment on the volume of blood but because the markings are very red it's more than a drop.
#125, Large circular stain on the tiled floor, the source could have been in one position for a while or the water contact would have had a pooling effect.
#120, Hallway, tiled floor, hair found, expert did screening on the hair. At the lab the expert processed the root of the hair and sent it to the lab.
#126, Floor, door trim visible, west wall of the bathroom hallway, some stains are lighter and they are lighter due to being in contact with water. There is a transfer stain on the wall in a "sliding" pattern.
#127, Same area, a couple of transfer patterns on the baseboard, there is more volume of blood that caused the blood to drip down.
#129, Hallway, west wall, there is carpet at the bottom of the photo. There is a clean area in the middle of the hallway. There is blood along both sides of the hallway. Water has gone through the entire middle of the area. Something could have been in the area to prevent the area from becoming bloody. Could have been used by a cleaning utensil. It's "just a bunch of bloodstains". The source would have been in the area depositing blood on both sides of the hall.
#132, Where the carpet meets the tiled floor, electrical outlet, transfer stain on the wall. Blood can be on the wall and something coming into contact with it.
#133, same type of photo, the transfer of blood occured where you see the stain on the wall. Difficult to identify patterns due to water being in contact with the drops.
#131, carpet, large saturation stain, blood source would have been over the area. Part of the stain appears to be rubbed. Somebody walking through the area could have caused it. On the under side of the carpet it was determined that water had been applied to the stain. At the scene the expert doesn't remember the carpet being wet.
#128, carpet where it meets tile, large stain and a lot of transfer stains. Stepping in the stains could have disrupted the area. Implies a lot of movement in the area. No blood stains in/on the bed. Somebody may have walked on the doorway blood and gone down the hall.
#78, Closet. No blood.
#121, Transfer pattern on the baseboard.
#79, Corner of baseboard, another transfer pattern
#81, lip of the shower, blood source came into contact with it, transfer pattern. Cannot determine if it is a swipe pattern.
#121, tiled floor, transfer patter, shoe print, not a sock or bare foot.
#122, better photo of the shoe print, direction is ????
#162, photo of sock? foot in photo. bare foot no sock or shoe. could not have made the shoe pattern in the blood on the floor. It means that the person wearing the shoe walked through the bathroom after blood was shed.
