You stated your opinion, and then wondered why the discussion continued. I could've misinterpreted, of course.

Close. I stated what the ME said (which wasn't my opinion) and then wondered why the discussion continued. I guess I miscalculated how many people would think the ME was completely off base. It was a post made in somewhat frustration, kind of like "Oh geez why is this still being passed on with incorrect information." Certainly it was my mistake in thinking that others would just believe the expert's advice. That's where I'm coming from.

I choose to believe the ME. I realize that they are not always right. But, as I said before, the other evidence in that room shows that Travis was attacked with a knife first. I don't know about clots or air pockets, but I'm not a medical professional. I'm just going on what the ME said.

Just adding my 2cents and making sure I use what I learn from my education as an RN who was in the program before it got so easy!

I am going to go and find the ME's testimony again because I do not remember him saying that the bullet went through his brain at all. I recall that the shot went in on the right side near ear/eye and lodged in his left cheek. It seems that would be a shot through his sinuses more than his brain.

That is my opinion.

Here is the actual testimony of the Medical Examiner. To hear him state in his own words that the bullet definitely passed through Travis' brain, and how this was proven, just start the video at 2:36:00.

If one chooses to watch for a couple of minutes, they will be reminded of the almost comical exchange between the defense attorney and the ME about the bullet passing through the brain. It might have been funny if it hadn't been so sad.

I think she had pockets in her sweat pants. Gun in one and switch blade in the other.

Hmmmm....good thought. I keep thinking about the knife. I never thought of a pocket type knife. Has the knife been recovered?? Anyone know? Did Travis carry a knife? My husband keeps one in his pocket and puts it on the counter when he showers. Obviously it's a smaller pocket knife.

I wonder if Travis had a switchblade?

Because I framed the question to folks that thought TA was shot first...

Why bring a knife if you planned on shooting him?

I wonder if TA was shot first only because it seems to me MO that TA could fend off a knife attact IF he saw it coming. Why would one bring a gun if you planned on stabbing him to death? My thoughts arose only after her video stating the shot to TA first by the "ninjas", and the misfire statement. I wondered out loud if after the misfire she got the knife based on her truth amongst lies. To be real who brings both a gun and a knife to kill?

JMO
I also think its possible that he could have actually been standing when shot. If the first thing he sees is her with the gun instead of camera now, he may have involuntarily ducked forward which could have allowed the trajectory to go pretty much where it went. He couldn't back up in the shower to avoid the shot, so all he could do would be to duck forward to try to avoid the shot. Again, JMO as it is a possiblity in my opinion.

Thank you. I didn't know where to find the actual testimony. :)

Does anyone have a link to Dr Horn's testimony in full? I'd like to find out the exact position of the entry wound. So far the best I can find is above the right eyebrow, but that covers a lot of territory - I'd like to hear / see something more specific.

If this is what he said then anything is possible as to the path of the bullet which also means that the ME can not state with certainty what Travis would or would not be capable of doing after that shot fired into his face.

I'm confused as to what all of the hostility is about.

I believe he can with a great deal of certainty because of the portion of the brain the bullet would have gone through. Travis was not shot in the face, he was shot in the temple area. The bullet had to have traveled through that portion of his brain that controls movement to get to the area where it stopped in his cheek. It would be like drawing a straight line from A point to B. So he does, indeed, know what he is talking about and has had 4 years to verify it with other's if he had a question.

Not sure how JA would have accomplished shooting TA in the temple in a downward movement from two feet away if he were in the shower unless she was on the ceiling. The bullet when through his temple in a downward movement towards his opposite cheek. To me the ME stating he was probably lying on the floor when she shot him makes more sense then her shooting him while he was in the shower.

I think some here get frustrated because WS likes us to follow the facts and not over speculate. While some speculation is good when we have no facts it's frustrating for many when facts are verified by some of our experts here at WS and their valuable input is ignored. While we all might agree experts can be wrong they are usually right and trying to disprove their testimony is really pointless. jmo

I have been following this case as much as my time allows. I haven't had time to read all the posts. Can someone tell me is any of JAs family been in the court room? Have any of them said anything about her? Thanks

Probably many others have said this: why would you call Travis' voice mail knowing he was dead and inviting him to go see the coast?

IMO she thought that would make her look innocent...like she wasn't there...life as normal (normal in her world not in mine) lol.
In other words, if she was calling him then how could she know he was dead, lol.

Scroll up. Smart Blonde just posted it.

I think the other night when the "autopsy" photos appeared here, there was area right above his eye, maybe the right I can't remember, that I immediately thought was the entry of the bullet...it was pretty obvious at least to me.

Meant to say it looked just like a bullet entry.

Not being able to determine the exact path doesn't necessarily mean you can't call him incapacitated. I guess in court! Lol. but a bullet shakes the brain severely so even if it didn't make a certain path through a critical area just the shock to the brain causes immense damage and bleeding inside the brain that doesn't even make contact with the bullet. But yes, he was too decomposed to see the trajectory for sure. But a bullet to the temple will not allow one to crawl down a hallway. Ill take the medical examiners word on that.

Then also the fact that there was little bleeding from the head wound. This could only be due to bleeding out prior to this injury. Also the blood splatter etc from areas in the crime scene that indicate he was stabbed and heart was still bleeding or done by coughing and therefore splattering blood.

I wonder if TA was shot first only because it seems to me MO that TA could fend off a knife attact IF he saw it coming. Why would one bring a gun if you planned on stabbing him to death? I wondered out loud if after the misfire she got the knife based on her truth amongst lies. To be real who brings both a gun and a knife to kill?

Her "ninja" testimony really got to me as well, because I think there was a lot of truth mixed in with all the lies. I think she was blaming things on the 2 other people (one was a girl), and some of what they did may have actually been what she did.

As far as the knife, someone also mentioned that maybe she did not even bring the knife but went and got one from kitchen (if gun jammed on her). I also heard of people carrying kives as "backup" even though they have concealed carry permit. A knife can be a helpful backup weapon if a life or death confrontation becomes a hand-to-hand combat situation

What evidence is there that Travis was attacked with a knife first?

Blood all over the place? That doesn't prove knife first if he survived the gunshot.

The casing in the blood? That doesn't prove he was stabbed first. It only proves that that particular pool of blood was on the ground before the casing landed on top of it. That could have been immediately after the shot was fired OR could have been an hour later while she cleaned up and the casing ended up rolling, kicked, bumped...whatever...onto the blood.

Please don't tell me you are believing what she said about anything. And maybe she didn't bring the knife maybe it was one of his. jmo

He could have been sitting as we've seen in pictures.

Why cut someone's throat if you have already shot and stabed him numerous times? Nothing makes sense and it is folly to try to make sense of it. jmo
