Last year when we were given our turkeys, I received a 23 lb bird. My friend who has a big family received a 13 lb bird. I texted her and said Help! LOL! So we traded. We have received notice from suppliers over last few weeks that small turkeys are going to be a problem this year again for Thanksgiving. If you use a smaller size bird for your Thanksgiving meals, I would suggest that you get one as soon as you can and stick it in your freezer. Poultry prices seem to be backing down a bit as well as some beef items.
We have a persimmon tree that’s about ten years old. It has rarely made fruit. This year, it made a bumper crop. The limbs are sagging under the weight and our pear tree was the same way.
Ha! Can you imagine our ancestors making squirrel & acorn soup? That just make me giggle. So Mr Pirate reads a lot of historical fiction. He was telling me just recently that acorns are mentioned in his books as a food source. Here is a little history:

Bon Appetit! I think
The acorn “crop” here (massachusetts) this year is def booming. My ancient apple tree also had a much higher than normal amount of fruit.

Time to light a fire in the fireplace and sip some wine!We have several oaks behind our home (not in our yard). In recent days, even a slight breeze causes the trees to "rain" acorns. Squirrels are scurrying about madly to collect, eat, and/or bury them.
I put flannel sheets on our bed yesterday, DH ordered a pair of flannel pajamas, and I ordered two fleecy loungewear sets from Macy's. Winter is on its way
Oh my gosh, we have an oak tree in the back yard. This year was a BUMPER crop, I think it's finally done dropping. I have enough acorns for you all to try making flour.
