To me the Bible is clear on thou shalt not kill, love one another. That kind of thing. I do not understand god and guns
If there's a god, s\he probably doesn't, either.

I've never understood the connection either. I can't imagine Jesus would carry an M-16 for any reason.

‘Put your sword back in its place,’ Jesus said to him, ‘for all who live by the sword will die by the sword.’ Enough of this, stop it!”

Well, if it has, the answers given are not acceptable. Basically it boils down to any semi-automatic or automatic rifle that accepts a detachable magazine. That’s simply too broad of a definition. But it’s difficult to narrow it down much more than that.

Exactly whar my husband said should be banned. He comes from a long line of hunters. Tough guys from Minnesota . He sees no reason that anyone needs a semi to hunt. He feels that they do not belong out in the woods. They are a danger to themselves as well as others.

I think a bullet can travel three miles? Is that correct? Who needs that?

Where's the data that backs up your statement that 14,000 deaths per year can be prevented by anything that's being proposed. I haven't seen it.

14,000 deaths a year attributed to mass shootings. Links to data all over the three threads. Nothing proposed by the NRA will change those numbers as they are stood with their fingers in their ears screaming "gun grabbers" and "personal liberty". But if gun control was really focused on, and people actually kept their guns out of reach of disenfranchised young men (who are predominately mass shooters) then deaths would be prevented. It doesn't take data to back that up, it takes common sense.

bbm
Assaults by firearm kill about 13,000 people in the US each year,

What people say when they can't back their argument - read the threads, it's in the threads. Lol I've linked some things two and three times.

That’s definitely way off. Must be including deaths by suicide, gang related shootings, etc. Mass shootings in the United States are actually extremely rare.

Death from a firearm is still death. And those numbers don't include non-fatal injuries.

And? I'm at work and can't go back looking through threads for you.

Maybe so but I though the issue here is mass shootings and “assault rifles?” People aren’t committing suicide with assault rifles.

There was something like 15,000 murders total in the US in 2015. That includes shootings of all types, knives, beating, strangulations, etc.

I apologise, I mixed up my figures and you are right.

Just so you can stop with the figures. I acknowledged I got the figures mixed up. 14000 firearms deaths are still 14000 firearm deaths too many

Interestingly there are 15000 murders each year in the US, of which 11000 are gun homicides. I would say that makes firearms murders pretty common when it comes to weapon of choice

Wrong again.

Ok The Guardian, one of the most respectable broad sheet newspapers worldwide is wrong. Take it up with them. I'm done with arguing stats. I'd rather discuss how to stop the deaths than argue about numbers

The topic of the thread is gun control. Therefore all deaths from firearms are "the issue."

Way too many. And again, doesn't include non-fatal injuries (glances at Mr flourish's and my niece's bullet wounds).
