Joel Souza had nothing useful to add. He didn’t know where HGR was (in or outside of the church) and he didn’t know who handed the gun to AB. He doesn’t know anything about the safety protocol. He did confirm that no dummies were needed for the scene with the long rifle but he doesn’t really know what these guns look like. I think the state’s point is that HGR loaded that unnecessarily. More evidence of her carelessness. Defense is saying it needed to be loaded to look realistic.

He did confirm that the blocking process in the church was only meant for AB to pull the gun out not point it. It was a close up shot of the gun being pulled out of the holster. I think that’s where AB is gonna get raked over the coal at his trial. He claimed in his media interview that Hutchins asked him to point at her and pull the hammer. I don’t know why the prosecutor didn’t have Souza explain what AB was supposed to do in this blocking prep. But I guess that’s for a different day when AB is sitting at defense table. JMO

Gutierrez-Reed had a live round mixed with with dummy ones on set, prosecutors told the jury in her manslaughter trial on Thursday

On Friday the jury was also shown dozens of photos of the inside of the shop owned by Seth Kenney for his company PDQ Props

The photos were an attempt by Gutierrez-Reed’s lawyer’s to show that Kenney stored his ammunition in a haphazard way

WITNESS 25: Joel Souza, Rust DirectorSouza was injured during the shooting. The deadly bullet went through Halyna Hutchins and then hit Souza in the shoulder.Baldwin hired Souza to write Rust.

Souza picked HH - she was a cinematographer he admired.“It fit my style.”

“There was an incredibly loud bang," Souza said. “It felt like someone had taken a baseball bat to my shoulder.”“Nothing made sense.”

Souza is done on the witness stand. He exits court with woman with long hair.

Ohhhh I just realized - I guess Seth Kenny (sp?) is the REAL star witness for the prosecution! He hasn’t testified yet, right? He will be last I suspect. I imagine defense is sharpening their proverbial knives for him. I think he’s the one HGR blames for the live round being on set. JMO

Emery Chacon testified that HGR had boxes of ammo in her hotel room at least one time prior to the incident. I think this is meant to show that she is the only one who could’ve brought the live round on set. That she was carrying ammo onto the set separate from the vendors. Seth Kenny will testify he didn’t give any live ammo to the production. JMO

Wrangler and stunt guy is not a good witness for the state. He is hesitant and seems like he was led into giving these observations during pre-trial interviews and now doesn’t want to make them in open court. He needs his memory refreshed quite a bit.

He says HGR was checking the pistols with the cylinder closed, which means she couldn’t see through the barrel to make sure it was clear. She’s supposed to open the cylinder to do a proper check, according to him. And she left guns laying around on the prop cart for an hour or more at a time.

JMO

Witness EC, waste of time, moo.
I say this, because on cross, EC confirmed that he and HGR went to a movie, he possibly wanted more than a friendship with HRG, they had been texting back and forth with each other. HGR was not interested and she stopped texting with EC.

Also, EC testified he was in her room "a hand full of times" and noticed boxes of ammo -- army green hard plastic box.

I’m still trying to get the sequence of events down in my head…it may be just me but it seems to have changed a bit…Currently I see it this way….

1) HGR loaded AB’s gun with 5 dummies before lunch - or at least what she thought were 5 dummies - the 6th one wouldn’t go in - possible debris on the gun or on the ammo or damaged ammo. So the shots of AB pulling the gun out that we have seen were taken before lunch with 5 rounds in the gun.
2) She took the gun from AB and “put it away” whatever that means while everyone went to lunch. According to one of her interviews she did not unload the 5 rounds at this time - just added the 6th round after lunch.
2) After lunch, HGR loaded the 6th round after “clearing” the cylinder — I think - could have been after clearing the barrel…but I think she was referring to clearing the cylinder - well brushing it off or something - but she didn’t seem to know if 6th round before lunch wouldn’t fit because of the gun or the round.
3) HGR then shows the gun to DH and tells him it is a cold gun - I’m a little confused here because I think DH said that HGR unloaded the gun and showed it to him empty and then 5 minutes later had loaded the dummies and showed him it was a cold gun but he only saw 3 maybe 4 of the rounds - meaning if she spun the cylinder that he didn’t catch it or that she did not spin it - but either way he did not see the live round.
4) HGR hands the gun to DH & exits the church
5) DH hands to gun to AB & announces it is a cold gun & steps forward to watch from a position that would put him about 10 o’clock from AB - HH is in about the 12 o’clock position from AB & JS is standing on her left so about the 1 o’clock position.
6) AB puts it in his holster which he slings over his shoulder under his jacket & sits on the pew - though I’m not sure about this because it seems typically the armorer puts the gun in the holster and helps the actor get the holster on or in position.
7) AB takes his direction from HH and draws and is positioning and re-positioning the gun with the hammer cocked fully and the gun fires - either AB pulled the trigger or he released the hammer too quickly the way that SZ did a few days earlier when a weapon she was loading or unloading went off. I’m not sure what weapon that was - it might not have been a 45.
8) AB lays the gun on the pew after the shooting & tries to help with JS & HH.
9) DH picks it up & takes it to HGR’s cart & has her unload it & check the rounds while he watches. There are 5 dummies and the empty that had just been fired - yet neither of them are aware even after looking at it that it was a live round - a real bullet as both are insisting it was a blank that fired and perhaps it was wadding or debris that came out - until they are informed by LE that there was a 45 bullet in JS’s shoulder.
10) In the mean time, SZ collects guns from other actors & takes them to unload & throws away the dummy rounds - though I’m not sure that we know whether or not they were really dummies - that is I’m not sure they were recovered.
11) After the shooting LE arrives and discovers a total of 6 live rounds on set - one that was fired and I think 3 more in the box on the cart but am not sure I have that right and all I saw about the other 2 rounds was “elsewhere on set”.

Please feel free to correct me or add any info you can to clarify any of the above as I said before I’ve not been able to follow all of the testimony nor have I seen all of the interviews and I’m just trying to get a picture in my head because I still cannot fathom that this actually happened.

She tried to and so did her dad. And I gotta wonder if all that effort during the investigation to aim the cops at Seth rises to criminal charges level.
PDQ looks like a dumpster fire of a company that I would never trust, and Seth is apparently a scum bag, but the cops didn't find ANYTHING to link him to the live rounds on set.
As sloppy as his shop is, I doubt he would have been able to get rid of ALL the matching rounds, if he had some..

One of the live rounds was found in a gunbelt being used by Jenson Ackles.

In regards to this case, I don't think it really matters. She still had to be the one that loaded the rounds into the gun without verifying they were dummies.

In #9, Dave Hall testified yesterday that when he had HGR take the gun to the cart and empty it, he noticed that the empty cartridge which had just been fired, looked differently from the others. It was a different color, a dull metallic color while the others were bright brass, etc.

I haven’t been watching the trial since before lunch. But one thought I had regarding Zachry and Kenny allegedly ganging up on HGR —- I think their disdain for her is completely understandable. She’s a nepo baby and hire. She was seemingly arrogant and didn’t want to follow orders. I think most people would relate to their negativity towards her. She also called Zachry a C U Next Tuesday. She wasn’t exactly a nice person by all accounts so far. Also, it was her responsibility to handle the firearms, and it’s understandable that they all feel like she’s responsible/guilty.

Yes and wouldn’t you think at the very least he would have to consider the possibility that it was a real bullet? And yet in his interview that day he was insistant that it had to be wadding or something because a 45 bullet would have done more damage than kill one person and go through her and injure another. He held that position until they either told him it was a bullet or showed him a photo of the x-ray - I can’t remember which.

And her RBF (Countenance) reflects and supports all the negative comments here.
