What I am wondering is if these remains were not there until recently and then were moved there? It seems strange that they were not found earlier, especially after the MH connection was made. Maybe my brain is confused with all the info, but it seems a very similar location to MH.

For some reason I have a feeling this may not be her, does anyone else feel that way?

Not me. I think there probably is evidence that hasn't been released makes them pretty confident. I doubt they would have told her family and the public unless they had very good reason to believe it was her, beyond, 'we found some bones.'

In aerial photos yesterday, if you zoomed in, what looks like search personnel were visible between the 3-4th blue dash from the right side entering woods. They entered the wooded area at a corner off the left side facing the cottage.
MO: JM entered property through the driveway to the cottage and carried HG back to the creek bed off that left side facing the cottage. That technically is prob not that lady's property, but rather the property behind hers, but he accessed the spot through her property. I agree with those who say that gate is creepy..it is...but I don't think he went back there that way. The gate would be a hassle and probably locked. Straight up cottage driveway, carry her and cut back to the woods/creek bed, and back to the car he's outta there. Go home back up OLR straight home for him...done.
Grab easy target, then when he's done, straight to dump her off and straight home like nothing ever happened.
He's horrible.

Where do you think he allegedly raped/killed her? In one of the vacant homes or in the mud/grass? Or somewhere completely different?

I'm a 'city' girl who moved on acreage in a fairly rural , yet heavily traveled, area. In over 10 years I've lived here I know the smell of a dead deer, unfortunately. My point is, if this smell the couple noticed was unusual to them? Did they think it was a deer or other animal or something they've never experienced before?

Poor Hannah...... and her parents... have mercy. I can't imagine.

I don't know why there's so much worry that he won't be charged with raping Hannah. I'm far more concerned that he be charged with *murdering* Hannah! His DNA doesn't have to be found on her remains for charges in this case. Remember, there is a strong possibility that her DNA has been found in his car and/or on his clothing. They had to have found strong evidence in his car to get the search warrant for his house and to secure the abduction with intent to defile charges.

DNA from clothing and DNA from skeletal remains are two differing animals. Do we know the DNA associated with MH case came from remains and not the clothing?

I believe we do know that the DNA came from her body... see post #9 in the forensic link thread #3 as I copy and pasted this from there, some links may not work here...
While they raise awareness, the Murphys and Harringtons also want answers. DNA found on Morgan's body matched an open sexual assault case in Fairfax County, but the man's identity remains unknown.

A man's DNA was found at the crime scene, which matched the DNA found during a rape investigation from 2005

DNA found on Miss Harrington's body - discovered in a field three months after she disappeared while walking to a concert - was also identical to samples taken from a victim of sexual assault in 2005

Morgan disappeared in 2009 and her body was found three months later, hidden at a remote farm. DNA evidence of her killer, found on her remains, has since been linked to a 2005 rape case of a Fairfax woman who survived the attack.

If the forensic evidence that connects the two cases holds true, there is likely another victim linked to the suspect. Virginia State Police investigating Harrington's death in 2009 determined that DNA on her body connected the perpetrator to a 2005 sexual assault of a woman in Fairfax, Va.

Edited to add that we have gone over this topic 1000 times, somehow it always goes back to this. DNA that was on the Tshirt was Morgan's thats how they know it is indeed hers. Also his DNA might be on it as well, but as you see the DNA came from her body. LE is not going to come right out and say these things, Morgan's parents however, have said them many times that I remember, and I don't think that if your child died in such a manner you'd be making assumptions, you would know what happened to your child. You would/could never forget. JMO
BBM bolded italicized and underlined Virginia State police for emphasis
Edited yet again to add that a couple of my links in this post no longer work because I copy and pasted from post #1151 in the previous thread, but all links still work there.

I am bumping this up because I wonder if anyone knows what this means? Not enough evidence to charge with rape or easier to prove?
Well, I don't think it matters because the sex charge, for the Fairfax City Case, was in the commission of two other felonies, Attempted Capital Murder and Abduction with Intent to Defile.

"Bobby Pugh tells WTOP and WVTF that as he drove to work one day in late September or early October, his eyes were drawn to the abandoned home at 3193 Old Lynchburg Road, on a winding, narrow stretch of the road that connects Charlottesville to Lynchburg."

"Lori Hamilton lives just doorsteps from where police say the remains were found. She tells NBC29 her family noticed something unusual in the area in the past few days.
'My husband started smelling things two days ago and saw vultures. And yesterday he was like 'Lori it really smells bad outside, lets shut the windows,'” said Hamilton.'" [Article posted Oct 18, 2014]

Both quotes RBBM. This is my question: How can a body that was picked clean by buzzards in late Sep or early Oct still continue to putrefy and give off a super strong odor of decay on Oct 16th?

I can't link this County of Albemarle gov't land map, but here is the link to the site I believe otto originally linked.

Very interesting, if you search the 31*3 address and click on map to left of the address a map will come up, make sure the type of map is GIS once open. Look south of the driveway at 31*3, see the creek south of the cottage as well. Just on the south side of the creek is a driveway to the vacant lot that's next door to 31*3 leading way way back into the woods. It's just on the southside of the creek. Is this the location of the gate we had discussed earlier?
The parcel is 42 acres and looks like the Ammonet Branch is on this neighbor's property, not the 3193 property lines.
Please post a pic here if anyone can. I don't know how to do it.

My guess is that he buried her, and the remains (and then the vultures) were just washed out with the big storms. JMO.

,
What the neighbor smelled in the last 3 or 4 days has nothing to do with nothing.

It's not related to this crime scene in any way.

Is this the same man who saw buzzards on the 5th and walked a little of the property on the 6th and felt concerned about trespassing or is he a second man who saw the vultures?

I think most of this rape conversation is in regards to the 2005 rape. I'm a bit confused, though
