Good morning everyone! Wow! Great pictures and links as always! Rockport is being referred to as Ground Zero!

I have nothing this morning! We have a 90% chance of rain. No wind. Just a very gray sky and no rain yet! Praying hard for everyone getting the worst to be safe!

Regarding price gouging, my husband was watching a live feed somewhere and gas was $2.44/gal and right before his eyes it changed to $2.69 gal!

He even went and dug our culvert out yesterday in preparation and so far nothing!

I really enjoyed the YouTube video with the British remaining sooooo calm under fire! :silly:  Needed that because looking at the pictures of damage is quite sobering!

Again, you guys are such good company! I hope we hear from BFMD soon! Geevee glad you're okay! Witch glad you checked in. I feel a bit guilty that we haven't even gotten a drop of rain yet. Really was expecting to wake up in the middle of the night to howling wind and lots of rain!

The National Hurricane Center’s 11 a.m. said Harvey was still holding on to hurricane status, with peak winds of 75 mph. Importantly, its forward motion had essentially stopped. The storm is presently drifting to the north at a mere two miles per hour. This means torrential rain is set to drench many of the same locations for hours and days and the feared flood catastrophe may be about to begin.

That definitely is not good news! I am worried!

Humm

Twang from last night has won an Emmy in the past!!

Great link Cariis! Lots of live cams! We always took the Hardy toll road to visit my SIL. I know she is glad to no longer live there. She always had problems with flooding even under normal rain conditions.

Hey Boots hey all on the phone so short n sweet. Lost power 5:45 am. Us and two neighbors- go figure. Son and others have power so we're fine. Lost a couple little limbs and a couple sections of fence - no big deal. Not much rain-3" only so far- drive around - very little damage mostly leaf debris. That's here in Northwest Corpus Christi- northwestern NUECES county. Later peeps!

CNN reporting sheriff in Rockport fears they'll be recovering bodies.

Oh but please do go out and clear drain out

flooding has to be horrid

If it is safe go walk around and do several drains around your home too - at least that way you can keep your area low . I would assume the way they are talking there is going to be a point where those systems are at standstill at least this way you get the msot bang for your buck

I played around with some of em during Frances !

be careful tho

I got it cleaned out, last year we had cement poured around them to stop the ground erosion, I thought they cemented one of them in but I finally got it up, the crud cleared and everything in the back is drained (yay).

We lived in an apt. complex when Ike came though, the parking lot grates were all blocked with about 3 feet of water covering the lot, so a bunch of us residents (since all the staff evacuated and left us to fend for ourselves) risked limb and skin to clear the debris and roof shingles, we got that whole place drained in an hour. We didn't feel we had any choice if we wanted to save our vehicles from flood damage.

These folks have been good. I do not knowif it is related to passage of time and all local outlets have had time to figure out where to place there crews but they have been good

http://abc13.com/live/

prison is being evacuated

firefighters want to rescue some people 4 feet of water but cant yet

It is somewhat bizaire to me-- when they take an intersection shot I am surprised at how many are on them

Here at this point in time there would be pretty much noone on a road like empty!

My parents are safe in Galveston, which I'm grateful for. They came to us in Ausin for Ike when they had 7' of water in their basement.

Keeping Rockport residents and loved ones in our thoughts.

This made me laugh

I'm so glad you're still able to post! Understand short & sweet for sure! Hopefully your power will be restored shortly! They're reporting electric companies are trying to reach Rockport w/o much luck in an attempt to restore power! So scary!

With Hurricane Harvey stalling not far from Victoria, Tex., rainfall totals are rapidly increasing. Nearly 15 inches had fallen in some areas through 10 a.m. central.
Here are some select totals:

Capture-floodtx.png

Flash flood watches and warnings plastered the entire area between Corpus Christi and Houston and several counties inland.
At 11:40 a.m. (10:40 a.m. central), radar showed the core of Harvey and its heavy rain centered near Victoria, but a very intense spiral band of the storm extended from near Galveston northwestward through the north side of Houston.

LMBO! You know there's always that one person! They are talking about alligators now being out in the areas that are flooded. Snakes are bad enough, but add in alligators :scared: :croc:

Bless you! That is a JOB! But like you said nobody else was going to do it. You're gonna need your vehicle!

Speaking of vehicles, watching those deep water rescue vehicles, they are amazing!

Checking in and continuing to keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers.

YIKES....Stay safe everyone....:praying:

Okay, just heard some rolling thunder, and it's raining. Looks like the first big band is headed this way according to radar. It's showing bright yellow followed by that angry orange red color! It wouldn't surprise me if we lose power. Sometimes it can just thunder and we lose power. I'm sure Oncor has sent everyone they can toward Rockport and Galveston.

I just saw on the news that the estimated damage from Harvey could exceed 40 billion.

The worst is yet to come and it will be from extreme flooding.

They are expecting to see alligators, poisonous snakes, gas leaks, fire ants in the flood waters.

Please do not get out, and drive anywhere unless you just have to and always remember the water over the road is much swifter, and deeper than many think. Roads and bridges can give away as well.

I am praying so hard for all of you who are affected by this storm.

Please be safe everyone.
