Goodness! With all these distractions of late, and being so excited about the new project at Meyers Lake . . . have they forgotten about the two children who have been murdered less than a year ago! Anyone trying to find the killer (s)? :furious:

Well, I hope someone will appear at the next meeting (April 22 isn't it?) and bring up these issues.

Very good points, Otto!
Here's something I just thought of after reading your post...what about insurance? Won't there have to be some type of insurance for the buildings, gazebos, etc? What about insurance to protect against vandalism? For security, is the Evansdale Police Department going to volunteer man-hours to monitor the island and the lake? Is it going to be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week?

If the city sponsors or approves a water sport (paddle boating) on a city lake, then the city is responsible for safety. They would have to patrol the lake to ensure that there were no protruding tree limbs, monitor water levels, enforce safety (if life jackets are mentioned in the bylaws), provide rescue for swimmers and paddleboaters. Good point ... park hours supervision required.

In addition to paying the paddle boat rental person and the main building/ grounds supervisor, the city would have to include Island safety in the SAR job description ... maybe another job opening ... and salary.

Maybe one of our locals has time to attend the meeting and bring back a report. Cindersloot and Ollipop are two locals that I'm aware of. Either of them free on April 22? Meeting about Meyers Lake at Meyers Lake ... I wonder where abouts that will be ... in the parking lot? Is it at 6 PM or at 8 PM? Can we wake up any of our locals to attend the meeting?

I wonder how well LE questioned friends of the girls. Someone in their age group may have a good idea of who took the girls, or even have seen something that day, but is scared to come forward, even to their parents. I still think a PI would be a good idea.

Who knows! :banghead:

Maybe the girls got lost and walked to 7 Bridges without anyone seeing
them, and collapsed from thirst and died of exposure-starvation.

Yepper! It's Iowa. Yepper! It boggles the mind what goes unseen and denied ...

:seeya:

When the lake was drained, kitchen appliances and car parts were removed from the lake. The lake has been used as a garbage dump for years.[/quote]

This may define the community! :truce: So then no surprise when other things get trashed and go terribly wrong . . . I'll bet there is enough meth going right by that community every day to
feed a small nation!

Really, I understand a memorial of some sort.... But I DO NOT get this park thing. Next thing they will rename the town Cousinville.
ok Biting tongue.

WHO took these girls and killed them?????

Likewise I basically refuse to discuss this memorial (except in general broad
terms related specifically to the girls and nothing else), but to stick to the
case at hand ... which is young girls abducted and apparently murdered by
somebody ... right next to what is probably a drug highway!

Maybe someone can help me with the trails ... there are five gazebo ... marked trails and walking across the grass trails? or trails to each of the gazebos. If so, where?

Which road is a "drug highway"?

I380 would be one. Its the only Interstate going by ? Serving Waterloo and
points north etc.

I camels do follow the water ...

That highways does not go near 7 Bridge Park ... so in terms of a "drug route", it's doesn't seem specific enough to count in the abduction murder of two children near the interstate and left 20 miles North of that interstate.

I can't figure out where the focal point of this layout is.

I380 goes right by Evansdale and the park where the girls were abducted...
I saw the map.

Waterloo and points north connecting with everything south to the southern border of the United States.

Are you saying all drug users/addicts are now going to switch to gazebos?

But as usual, when there is no new information we tend to discuss anything that is currently in the news about the girls. Right now, it's the memorial. JMO. And I see it as more than a "city matter", because it seems like something is taking place that has a life of its own, without city oversight or any type of control. JMO. And that makes me wonder - why?:waitasec:

I agree wholeheartedly but it's not my town. I don't live there & can't fight their citizen complaints along with them. Well, maybe I could but I have a big ole city to worry about rather than this island that definetely has been raped of trees & more importantly wildlife. I have it here on a huge scale so I bow out of that discussion. It should be a local facebook discussion but not here for the girls.

Why? Well, if it had to do with Elizabeth and Lyric, I'd hope the sheriff or FBI would tell me not to touch the island. It is a family trying to memorialize their children who have died and the last known place they were at is Myers Lake due to their bikes stashed there. That's all this family has to their last known where abouts before they died. That whole area between Brovan & Meyers. I'd want to dominate it too. I'd want to know every person in each home, everyone's schedule, everyones relatives etc....jmo

I myself want to know if JJB's uncle and aunt were out of town when the girls went missing? They live the street past Lake off of Artibus (e. of lake). There's many other people I wonder about that have been arrested but that would be a start to finding a killer other than a tree slayer as he says. Not happy with the design but I don't live there. tg

NWLady, between your points and Otto's it seems as though this 'project' has NOT been even partially thought out. :what: :moo: It has the feel of a pipe dream that some kids brainstormed on a rainy day. All that's missing are the unicorns~lol. Who is fueling this? And can they be stopped and brought back to reality? Or are they untouchable? I worry that maybe those involved KNOW that they are over-embellishing the park, thus the secrecy until it's too late. Jmo, though. :blushing:

according to the minutes posted up thread, we are told the park will require no police , fire protection, maintenance, no tax payer money. yeah right.

What about electricity? Who pays for that?
I find it all very bizarre.

I understand your point. I wish there was more info to discuss, but as you know things have been very quiet regarding the investigation. The latest news we have is that Lizzie's funeral has been scheduled. No word yet of Lyric's funeral service.

In lieu of any other topic of discussion, I don't mind discussing the memorial. At least this topic keeps the girls' thread active.

There are a lot of topics I'd love to discuss but, without any new information, all we can ask are the same old questions that have no answers. JMO.
