a. kidnaps in two's ...
b. will travel to do his work ...
c. grew up close to Evansdale according to posters here . . .
d. would be free to try again since he wasn't even questioned in regard to
our girls and the distance from Evansdale is large ...
e. picks similar victims ... ???
f. he chose suicide rather than face the consequences of ... something.

$24dollar question! DOES HE KEEP MEMENTOS OF HIS CRIMES? WILL A SEARCH OF HIS RESIDENCE TURN UP EVIDENCE OF OUR GIRLS?

Exactly. I'm about 95% sure this isn't a coincidence.

Hello everyone... Please be patient with me, I am an extreme newbie, yet, I have been a lurker for years. This case has turn me into a bonafied armchair detective with absolute determination... I am a mother, and a resident of the state of Iowa, as well as someone who has been a victim of a sexual predator... There is one thing that keeps jumping out at me in addition to the fact that this likes to take them in twos, when I first heard about Lyric and Elizabeth , I was struck by the closeness in age yet the difference in height, weight etc., I know that they have not released any info. on what the current 12 year looks like (size, weight, height etc.). , but in describing the 15 year old missing girl , her stats. are like that of a full grown woman! So, not only does he prefer two girls, but possibly, one that resembles a young woman physically, and the other on the cusp of preteen... I enjoy all of your thoughts and comments, please excuse our delayed introduction :) as well as my choppy deductions..

:wagon:

Welcome to Websleuths, Iona!

Thank you SpringThyme for bringing this to the table. This fact is clear to those who have experienced the personality of a predator, but to have this fact in a gov't report really draws one's attention.

Serial killers and sexual sadists, both predators, love to drive. It is not unusual for them to put thousands of excessive miles per month and year on their car.

A two hour drive would not be a big deal for a predator trolling for victims.

BBM.....good point Georger, as I just mentioned something similar in the other thread that I'd like to bring over.

What a brave young lady to escape this monster!!!!!! She brought him down! Either he was a coward, and didn't want to go back to prison or (IMO) he took his own life in his narcissistic attempt to try to maintain power.

The fact that Waterloo authorities didn't investigate this makes my blood boil! And, even if someone noticed this guy acting strage after the girls' murders one may not call LE, as one would like to think that Waterloo LE WAS aware of this guys MO, RSO status, etc. I don't get it!!!! Doesn't the FBI or authorities have a computer system that can search other similar crimes to assist in catching a bad guy?

Authorities investigating the kidnapping and murder of two eastern Iowa cousins last year did not look into the man suspected of kidnapping two girls Monday in Webster County, an official said today.

http://www.press-citizen.com/articl...n-missing-girl-case?Local News&nclick_check=1

I wonder why they did not check into him??! He has a history of kidnapping two children at once, is on the SO registry, and is a local! How often were hog farms brought up here? At the very least, the previous child abductions should have been a huge red flag.

I hope they find the girl!

BBM.....great point SpringThyme!!!! Maybe cross checking DNA data bases takes longer than 6 months.

The FBI was able to get results of the paternity test involving the Cleveland , and the daughter born in captivity within 24 hrs, so it's fairly clear to say that DNA testing regarding the two cases could be checked for a match lickity split, if authorities wanted to.

Wouldn't his DNA already be in the system?[/QUOTE]

So DNA was retrieved from the girls' bodies, apparently.

That seems right they did indeed get dna. I wonder if they will let us know if it doesn't match? The way it has been going I doubt it.

I'm so frustrated because the Dayton girls just easily jumped into a vehicle with a stranger. This especially disturbs me because you would think after two girls have already been killed that the communities would be on high alert and parents would make sure their kids were especially vigilant. But after LE has been so silent in the Evansdale case, people kinda forgot the dangers. Grrrr

I just get so angry that Klunder committed suicide rather than admit to what he had done.

I would swab the heck out of his truck to see what turns up - any vehicle he has. Also check any credit card tracks, receipts, gas receipts to see where he has been ...

I don't know if collection and processing of a DNA sample was required or even commonly done in 1989. I know that in many cases a viable sample might have been preserved, but the actual processing was very, very time consuming and expensive back then. It certainly was not accepted in court as it is today.

I learned that laws pertaining to sexual crimes have changed a lot over the years and that these new regulations are not retoactively applied. I was informed of this fact by the parole officer of a sex offender when I called to see why the guy was allowed to live in a home whose backyard was adjacent to my daughter's school. The regs did not apply to him because he was convicted the year before they were passed. This could explain why a DNA sample might not have been collected and processed on a guy who was serving a sentence from 1989.

MOO

They say this guy is from Waverly, but do we know if he still has relatives living in the area or in Evansdale for that matter? Do we know what he did for a living or where he worked? I know how frustrating all this can be for LE having to deal with. My son is a Deputy Sheriff and he's currently working on a case here that doesn't involve foul play but all he has to go on is the type of vehicle that's missing, tire tracks, and a description of the individual that's missing. As my son said you wouldn't believe the type of tips that get called in that aren't even close to what is going on or have anything to do with the case that they have to sift through, but each and every lead has to be followed up on. I hope LE finds out who did this to Elizabeth and Lyric. They deserve justice and if this guy is connected then I hope they find the connection so that the family and community of Evansdale can finally get some peace and start to heal again.

I just get so angry that Klunder committed suicide rather than admit to what he had done.

I sooo agree! Plus, he could have told LE where to find the poor little 15 y.o. girl !!

And, now, I imagine BHCO would have liked the opportunity to question him.

Curious, can they test a dead person for DNA?

I think Klunder may have been tested either while he was in prison or upon his release since Iowa passed laws in 2001 on DNA testing.

7. The Board of Parole is required to order DNA profiling for felons that they release on parole or work release if a sample has not already been taken.

Who here thinks he is our girls killer? If he is it changes everything in my theory. It would mean the girls were killed at seven bridges. Oh my I hate not knowing anything.

How many of you think he is connected to our girls? If he is, it changes everything I thought.

sorry if this update is a repeat...

Searchers Report Finding Evidence in Central IA Abduction Case

DCI Director Charis Paulson said the girls were taken to a rural agricultural facility southeast of Dayton at 4:30 p.m.

Paulson said one of the girls, a 12-year-old, escaped at 3023 400th Street in rural Pilot Mound and made her way to a rural home. She was taken to Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge, is OK and has been released from the hospital.

"We heard a noise out this way that sounded like a wounded animal. We started walking this way and here comes this girl -- scratches all over her legs, crying a lot and we finally got a little bit out of her that she had somehow escaped from somebody," said Patrick, the man who found the 12-year-old girl.

The girl was able to provide valuable information about the case to authorities including details about a red Toyota Tundra and a man identified as a suspect in the case, Michael J. Klunder, 42.

Authorities said the 12-year-old who escaped was very lucky. They can't release her statements about the case yet but said she was very helpful to the investigation.

Paulson said Klunder was found dead about 8 p.m. at a rural property at 3319 Taylor Avenue near Dayton. He lives in Stratford, authorities said. Kietzman said Klunder died from a suicide.

Shepard is still missing Wednesday.

Cinder, abducting two at one time is rare, but this guy seems to have a history of abducting two at a time. I have no way of knowing if he connected, but I hope they let us know one way or other soon. I wish we knew where he was on July 13th, 2012.

How many of you think he is connected to our girls? If he is, it changes everything I thought.

If Michael Klunder is responsible for what happened to our girls, my entire theory is wrong.

I don't know if he had knowledge of Meyers Lake and Seven Bridges, and since he killed himself we'll probably never know.

I tend to think he is not connected to Lyric and Lizzie. JMO
