Were the driving offenses considered a Felony? Most states will impose those restrictions on someone who is convicted of a felony.

No.

Just regular old, drove home when he'd lost his license 17 months earlier or something, his girlfriend was ill (read, drunk) and they'd been to a party in the country.

We don't have the "felony" system here.

You also have to be of "good standing" to get a gun license. Driving Disqualified means you're not.

If road rage is evident and they can convict him, I doubt he'd be driving for a long while. Havent check the imposed sentencings for it though. Driving, road rage, road rage, driving, yah, I'd take that privilege away.

Is there really a connection between Lyric's brother and the missing girl, or is that little more than wild speculation and rumor?

I believe the speculation came from her Facebook that features Lyrics brother in photos and some talk from several people that have followed his Facebook have stated that he mentioned her at one point as a girlfriend.

Thanks. So could it also be nothing more than a connection based on living in a small town where everyone knows everyone?

I am sixth generation to live in the Cedar Valley, and I have never crossed paths with anybody ever mentioned on this forum. FWIW.

ETA: At what point are there too many coincidences to reasonably justify any given scenario as completely random?

There are over 68,000 people in Waterloo alone. I think all these coincidences are starting to get a few too many. Not saying it isn't possible, but I can not even count how many times I have said that about one after another coincidence. Evansdale is a small enough community where that may more often apply though. imo

I forgot to add that Lyrics brother, DM and the missing girl TC are both from Waterloo

Yeah, I don't think the "Everyone knows everyone" applies to a city of 68k.

I grew up in a city of 300k, I lived in a town of 7k, and now I live in a city of 1m.

The 1million city is like a village...everyone does know everyone!!! I'm not sure why either, but it is unofficially the "worlds biggest country town". It's warmer and by the sea and wealthier with a very rich cultural scene, maybe that has something to do with the different vibe.

The city of 300k? No one knew anyone. I went to 3 different highschools and even I knew hardly anyone. The culture was cliquey, folks didn't party and socialise and play sports constantly like they do where I live now.

The size of the place (extremes excepted) really doesn't translate into how many people you know, in my experience.

But I am sure that folks in Waterloo/Evansdale and surrounds, who use and sell meth, DO know each other, or at least OF each other, for that reason. We also have Facebook now which has added another level to social interaction.

Methheads know other methheads. This sort of underground, illegal, but pervasive hobby causes all sorts of folks to come in contact, that normally wouldn't. :twocents:

:cow:

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls metropolitan area is hardly a small town since it has a population of over 164,000. That includes a number of towns with small populations but since all those towns share boundaries and there's nothing to act as a physical barrier, it is more like one medium sized city than it is many small towns.

I guess I was thinking more of the Waterloo Metro area when I said approx. 68,000 people.

On the subject of all these seemingly random coincidences in this case I was reminded of this saying.

ETA: I was in court the other day and watched a young man who was caught driving without a license have bail conditions imposed which mean he couldn't even apply for a firearms license. Not quite sure what one has to do with the other apart from, if you can't be trusted to drive a car, the State can't trust you with a firearm either.

He didn't even own a firearm (not many do) but the courts have made it so he couldn't get one if he tried, all due to driving offences.
The underlying concept would be right (gun ownership) vs. privilege (license to use the state's and federal government's roads).

Here are a couple pics as well of older Ford Bronco's. IMO these could easily be mistaken for a Chevy Suburban from a distance. :truce:
Especially the white one. I didn't know Broncos ever looked like that. I would definitely have thought it was a Suburban. wow

Could someone kindly remind me the date of DM's upcoming court appearance? I know it's been discussed ad nauseum, and yet, I can't find it!

ETA: Nevermind. Found it! 9/13/13.

Yep.

Also, we don't have the "right" to own guns here.

You have to prove you need one. Fear of the boogyman does not qualify as a valid need.

Just wanted to add my thanks to W/S Great moderate Bessie for giving us a new thread for Lyric and Elizabeth too. Thanks for being so patient with all of us. I feel like we're close to a resolution. Maybe it's more wishing than feeling, but I think y'all know what I mean. :please:

Just Pat, I don't think the girls' killer/s will get away with it. It's just a matter of the pieces of the puzzle falling into place and the missing pieces coming into play.
