Thinking of the cctv of L and L riding bikes and how that tape was scrutinized, looking for some hint of the perp, thinking if only he was photographed, he would be caught for sure!
But in the Delphi case, the poi is actually captured on film, with audio ( presumably ) of his voice no less, tantalizing, but not quite the smoking gun one might expect!

The bodies were found by hunters, did the perp expect hunters to eventually find the bodies?
As opposed to being a hunter himself assumed due to his apparent familiarity with the woods, could leaving the deceased bodies of innocent children, possibly be that the perp was making a bold statement about hunting?

complete speculation, imo.

[/URL]The blurry clip, which lasts only a few seconds, shows the figures riding by on Brovan Street away from Meyers Lake.

“It looked kind of grainy to me, I mean just zoom they were by the thing and so it’s very hard to really make much out on the thing,” Black Hawk County Chief Deputy Rick Abben said.

They were less than a block from the Collins’ house, where grandmother Wylma Cook was reportedly watching the girls while one of their mothers had an appointment.

“They were the only two people to go by on bikes that day to my knowledge,” said Joe Pahl, who alerted police about the video July 16. “I’ve watched it.”

Pahl is the manager of Cornbelt Auctions, 3520 Lafayette Road, where a 24-hour camera captured the footage from its position behind the building. The time and date stamp — 12:11 p.m. July 13 — fits the police timeline of the case.

However, Pahl said the camera’s clock is eight minutes slower than his U.S. Cellular phone.

The lawn watering guy. Does anyone remember him? I guess they never included his time that he saw the girls into the official timeline because he might not have seen them that day.

I do. His name was Robert Carpenter. He reported that he saw the girls riding their bikes on the afternoon that they disappeared.

I don't know if LE included his time in the timeline or not. As I recall, he did not report a specific time that he saw them but it was a wide time range (like between noon and 3:00 p.m.) which really wouldn't have helped much. On the other hand, when he speaking with a reporter at the lake, he seemed to be going to tell the reporter a more specific time, but it appeared to people watching the video that his wife stopped him from being more specific.

I just saw this -- please forgive if it's a repeat. A "possible" is mentioned in July, 2017.

Jeff Altmayer, 58, was charged with trying to entice children in Jasper, Monona and Grundy County by offering them $100 to get in his van. Altmayer was arrested in November and accused of trying to lure a 6-year-old girl in his car near Onawa. KWWL reported July 12, 2017, that Altmayer is also suspected in two other incidents — one happening last June near the Dike City Park, and another a couple weeks later near Clay Street Park in Cedar Falls. When asked about Altmayer on July 12, 2017, Roehrkasse told KWWL, “The most I would say is that he is one of our leads and I will leave it at that.”

Was this a result of Foxfire's last post, or am I confusing it with something else?

Hi Margarita! I believe it was Foxfire and watcher9, plus maybe some other locals that called this person to LE's attention. He's a real piece of work that guy! His FB at the time of that arrest showed him on his motorcycle with a very young female child. . . Disgusting!

Interesting this was bumped today as this was on my local news here in Des Moines (Ankeny is a suburb of Des Moines). Attempted kidnapping, impersonating a public official...and from a little sleuthing, looks like he's self employed...teaches firearm classes? And what was he doing so far away from Ankeny?

Thank you Dot!! You're correct. Do we know where this guy is now? Hopefully under lock and key?

I don't know what Foxfire's last post was -- I just saw this in the news.

Bringing over part of my post from Libby & Abby's thread.

There is a new RAW footage interview with LE today. It's 27 minutes long, and I advise anyone following both cases to listen/watch.

He made reference to Lyric and Elizabeth's case, maybe half way through the interview.

After listening to the RAW footage of the interview with LE today, I wanted to note a few things.

Specifically:

1. Regarding similarities to other crimes:

Nothing across the country is popping up EXCEPT the Iowa girls. LE in both jurisdictions have been back and forth with each other. Regrettably there is no COD in the Iowa case, given the length of time after their murder that their bodies were found. It's not to say that he would kill them the same way, however.

I thought he came awfully close to saying they think there has to be a connection but they haven't found it yet.

That's a new detail, isn't it? Or am I remembering wrong? I thought up to this point the cause of death or lack of one had not been announced.

Yeah, they've been quite ambiguous about not releasing the cause of death.

I found it quite telling that they mention the possibility that he might not have killed them the same way. One could interpret that as implying Libby and Abby were killed in a way that ought to have left traces for Lizzy and Lyric. It doesn't tell us much about our girls but it implies certain things about the other deaths.

Fwiw, a Detective in the Delphi case did mention the Iowa case to a witness.

I do believe strongly that the perp could be the same, and that it may have been difficult with the 3 different locations in L & L's case, so he changed his MO and abducted, killed and disposed in the same location for A & L.

No information about cause of death or lack of it has been mentioned publicly by Iowa law enforcement in Elizabeth and Lyric's case. It is presumed that due to the length of time that elapsed before Elizabeth and Lyric were found that law enforcement has no DNA or cause of death due to the remains being described as skeletal.
