La Porte isn't that far from Waverly, Iowa, and Evansdale, Iowa. When a lot of few people go missing and within a short distance of each other, I just assume they're connected. I also think it is rare for someone to go missing in Iowa. I am originally from the northwestern part of Iowa.

I worry about someone doing something mean to Jake because he is different from them. My uncle suffered from autism when he was alive. My mom said, when they were kids, other kids would shoot him with a bb gun, and do other mean *advertiser censored* to him. Kids and even adults are very cruel. I don't like the thought of Jake drowning, and I don't like the thought of someone hurting him. I just want someone to find him. If someone hurt Jake, they need to grow a pair, and just fess up!

Bremer County <---- here is a list of other people missing just north of where Jake disappeared.

I had this special needs boy in my class from first grade up until I graduated High School. I don't recall people being mean to him. I still remember not thinking he was any different from the other kids until very late in elementary school. I don't know if I just didn't notice because I played more with other kids or if it was truly unnoticeable. As we grew up it started to be obvious, I think, because of speech issues. I think kids weren't mean to him because we knew him since first grade, he was one of us, he was in almost all of the same classes, he went to sleep away field trips. But I also understand that more often than not, kids in the US just keep changing classmates and these special needs kids are horribly bullied. Don't get me wrong, I was mean to other kids and other kids were mean to me, I just remember that the boy that had special needs was off limits. It saddens me that this is not the case for every especially vulnerable kid.
Long story short, I just wonder if Jake did have friends, if his classmates were nice to him.

Police: Search for missing La Porte City teen moving beyond Wolf Creek

The chief also said investigators have not ruled out anything, including "the possibility that Jake may not be in Wolf Creek or the surrounding land areas."

Did Jake had a phone or any social media accounts? I mean, he could've met someone online, blindfolded said where he lived and was lured. Since his parents wouldn't allow him to meet people who just met online, may have made up the creek story and then said person took him elsewhere.

I'm thinking about that possibility

I just hope they didn’t lose time and that the stream search was possibly to see if did fall in, but also to keep the community from jumping ahead of themselves and becoming convinced some killer was on the loose. Hopefully, while the stream search was going on, police have also been collecting and looking into all other leads.

I hope so too. Because if Liz and Lyric taught me anything, it is that abduction should be the first assumption. Search the water, yes. But also let the public know that Jake could be not in the water and that everyone needs to keep an eye out.

My children went to school with a boy with Down’s Syndrome. He was just accepted as one of the class, & they all looked out for him.

The whole school learned to sign in Makaton.

It was a really important part of my children’s education, for which I am very grateful.

My kids have never been awkward with someone with special needs, they just used to say “he/she’s like Robby”

More recently there was a child with severe autism at the school. It was heartening to see how the other kids looked after him. Everyone benefited from this inclusion in mainstream education ( UK, primary education)

For secondary education, these children went to a specialist unit, in the mainstream secondary school.

Just wanted to tell you how it works in rural England!

It’s been too long since Jake was mentioned on the news. Based on this comment from the Blackhawk County Sheriff, I’m worried about where his case goes from here.

Black Hawk County Sheriff Tony Thompson posted to Facebook a few days ago, saying, "This morning I am frustrated... Not because we are suspending the creek search, because we have fully exhausted every resource there... But I am frustrated because by all accounts, we've managed this case nearly perfect. Even when you do everything right, you're not always guaranteed a victory. I've been at this point before and I simply do not like being here. We owe this family, this community, and this county answers... But, we've tracked every lead and pushed every resource with no more answers. I'm not sure what more to do, though I know more needs to be done..."

TODAY: It's been exactly two months since Jake Wilson went missing

First, bumping.

Second, I helped search for Jake on the last day they had volunteer searchers (day 4 I think). I helped search a swath of dense woods just outside of town and ended up being in line next to his grandpa (if I remember correctly) and a longtime family friend. I've lived very near Laporte for my entire life and I figured I could clear things up for some posters.

So, first, even though it was cold and snowy the day after Jake went missing IIRC it was actually a decent day the day he went missing. Also the coat he was wearing was not just a thin coat. Lots of farmers wear that style of coat and they are very warm, so he was not underdressed.

Second, Laporte is a very small town where everyone knows everyone. If his walk to the creek was only 2 blocks away that is not far at all. They are small blocks so it was maybe a 5 to 10 minute walk max. Plus it's likely most people on the way that he might run into would know him or know of him, so presumably "safe" individuals (or at least the family would certainly assume so, it's their neighbors, they likely see them often). Also it was stated by the media, so take this as you will, that he had just started beginning to do things like ask to go out on his own for small amounts of time. The family wanted him to have some independence and wanted to foster this as he was 16 so a walk 2 blocks away was a safe way for him to do that. Again this was thru media so do with it what you will.

Also the searchers worked incredibly hard thru difficult areas and even though they aren't stating one way or the other that they are looking at foul play, I believe they are looking at all angles equally. They just put so much effort into the river searches because that's the only info they've really had as far as the general public knows. I do know as I was leaving the search the day I was there they were actively searching even locked empty for sale houses and all the out buildings and garages by the river that they could.
