Missing Arizona teen in Clive area prompts DMPD to ask for help​

Munguia reportedly flew from her home state of Arizona to Des Moines to meet a friend on Aug. 5 and was last seen in the Clive/Waukee area on Aug. 8.

She is described as having a mole on the left side of her neck, and may be carrying a tan backpack according to missingkids.org.

Police say Liliana Munguia left her home in Arizona on Monday and flew to Des Moines to meet a friend. According to investigators, Munguia was last seen in the Clive and Waukee area on Thursday.

According to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children website, Munguia may go by the name "Lily" or "Lil."

Police say 17-year-old Liliana Munguia left her father's house in Bapchule, Arizona, on Aug. 5 and purchased a plane ticket to Des Moines.

The FBI is looking for a missing Arizona teenager who may be in the Des Moines area.

Police say 17-year-old Liliana Munguia left her father's house in Bapchule, Arizona, at 1:30 a.m. Aug. 5. She had purchased a plane ticket from Mesa, Arizona, to Des Moines to meet someone she met online, according to an FBI missing persons report.

"She was briefly in contact with family, but has since ceased communication," the report says.

The FBI in Arizona says, “On August 5, 2024, Liliana Munguia was seen on home security footage leaving her father’s residence near Bapchule, Arizona, at 1:30 a.m. It was learned that the same evening, Liliana purchased a plane ticket and flew from Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport to DSM International Airport to meet an individual she met online. She was briefly in contact with family, but has since ceased communication. If you have any information concerning this person, please contact the FBI's Phoenix Field Office at (623) 466-1999”
