Court docs: Inmate admitted to killing Mollie Tibbetts, framing "Hispanic male"

Court papers: Inmate admits killing Tibbetts

The motion asserts that two different people who do not know each other told law enforcement in two different cities that the same person — who is not named in the motion — was involved in the killing.
Thanks.
I'll patiently wait to hear more about this:

County Sheriff's Office interviewed Inmate 1 shortly after that testimony, telling them that while in the Poweshiek County Jail, Inmate 2 described in detail staying in a "trap house" owned by a 50-year-old man "involved in the sex trafficking trade."

Wait....so the story CBR told under oath at the trial was a lie?! Are you kidding me? I’m half way through my screenplay based on it.
Seriously though, this recent tale from the Frese family lost all credibility when it says the guy was told to put the body somewhere so it looks like a Hispanic killed her. Right out of the Frese playbook.
Soooo, tell me again Mr and Mrs Frese, how did Mollie’s blood get in CBR’s trunk?

Edit: typo

I'm intrigued to hear more, as well. If the truth is somewhere between CBR's masked men story and this sex-trafficking story (which currently don't match), it will have to strongly correlate with the evidence: CBR's car following Mollie on video, her blood in the trunk, her cell phone data, and CBR leading LE to her body.

It will be interesting to see how they explain how she was purportedly held captive long enough for the search to have gotten "too close" to the trap house, but was also abducted and killed on the evening of July 18th...

It's a twist.

What's interesting about this is that the information came from prosecutors, who learned of it after the defense rested its case. According to the motion, additional information from a second inmate who didn't know the first, came to light after the verdict @LawCrimeNetwork

According to this article below (very detailed), the cellmate of Inmate 2, was interviewed before CBR testified, yet some details match CBR's testimony, like there being two men, one who doesn't speak English very well. I wonder if CBR was telling his masked men story around prison...?

Two reports identify potential new suspect in murder of Mollie Tibbetts

The inmate in question was interviewed for 20 minutes on May 26 at 1:15 p.m. This same date, the defense began calling its first witnesses to build its case. Bahena Rivera had not yet testified.

While in a jail in or near Poweshiek County, the inmate said his cellmate, referred to as “inmate 2” in court documents, told him that he and another individual were in a “trap house” owned by an around 50-year-old man who was involved in the sex trafficking trade.

Both inmate and inmate 2 have been identified as male, according to court documents. It is unclear the ages of both men at this time. Inmate 2 told the inmate the individual traveling with him did not speak English very well.

But then the article goes on to say:

Inmate 2 said the individual traveling with him knew a Hispanic man to pin the abduction and murder on. The inmate said he initially believed the story to be exaggerated, but after hearing Bahena Rivera’s testimony on TV, the stories were so similar that he decided to come forward.

Does anyone know what date and time CBR testified?

I don’t understand this inmate story. Besides not fitting a lot of CBR’s testimony...

1) “They” kidnapped Mollie for sex trafficking. So OK, they are the ones who snatched her while she was jogging causing her phone to suddenly zoom off at 70 mph. That was late afternoon/early evening on 7/19/21.
2) So, then “they” decide to kill her because “the search was getting too close”. So they head out to find a Hispanic male to frame this on.
3) So, that means “they” had her for, what, 15 minutes at the most. Nobody was looking for her at that time. Ridiculous.
4) CBR did not testify that “they” showed up at his house with Mollie, he testified “they” took him out with them and kidnapped her. That is if you believe CBR which I don’t.

And I don’t believe these new stories. Someone is manufacturing all this. I will say I’m not surprised though considering the defense that was presented at trial.
By all means look into it. Remove all doubt.

Court papers: Inmate admits killing Tibbetts

[..]

A judge granted the request, ordering Maki to be transported to a hearing Thursday, the same day as the scheduled sentencing. Court records show a man named AM of Keokuk County reached a plea deal in a domestic violence case in October and was sentenced to two years in prison.

State prosecutors said they learned about the alleged confession during the trial and do not believe it is credible.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation said the confession is not credible and they firmly believe Bahena Rivera is solely responsible for Tibbetts’ death.

ITA with your bolded Seattle. I believe this is a bunch of crap, nothing more.

From the story @SharonNeedles posted above:

That inmate allegedly said Tibbetts was kidnapped for sex trafficking and bound and gagged in a trap house but that he was directed to kill Tibbetts once the search for her got too close.

The man allegedly told the inmate that he was directed by the sex trafficker in charge to stab Tibbetts and dump her body near a Hispanic male to make it look like the Hispanic male committed the crime.

Of course his lawyers are going to want to hear what this guy has to say, but this doesn't fit in any way with the story CBR told on the stand that his lawyers claim he stood by all along.

That doesn't match with the timeline at all though. It doesn't explain her DNA in his trunk. He said it happened the day she went missing. This person is saying when the search got to close.. well they didn't start searching till a full nearly 24 hours later. How could they blame it on CBR and get her blood in his trunk the next day after she went missing? If that is what happened his story would include that and it didn't. It talked of the murder happening just after the abduction. Zero mention of holding her or anything about a trap house.

With his sentencing hearing just days away, the man convicted of murdering Mollie Tibbetts is asking for a new trial, claiming he was unwittingly framed by the real killer who he claims confessed to the crime.

Attorneys for Cristhian Bahena Rivera, a Mexican national, filed a motion asking that the jury verdict in the case be set aside based on the new evidence they received from prosecutors following the trial.
