But they most likely would be able to access her most recent icloud backup and also her ISP or cellular provider will be able to provide lots of data to reconstruct her activities that afternoon and evening. Nothing beats a forensic image, but they may be able to image the phones of the people she communicated with that day and get an accurate picture of her traffic with those phones. It is my understanding some Snapchat traffic can be retrieved from Android phones. It has been done in other cases. Not sure if any Android phones were used here.
Oh yeah I agree. My point with the OP was that requesting Apple to break the password on her phone is a moot point without the phone in hand.

I thought the same thing. She seems a little too smart to be taking pics of herself in a lacy bra and posting on social media. The pics of her sticking her tongue out or ones in her underwear are so “off”. They just don’t fit in. It seems like those would be the type of pics posts a young teen would do not thinking about the impact it has being seen by the world, not a 20 year old psych major.

These posts are common from age 10-60 I see all ages and types posting it. It’s typical and that’s all I have to say.

So I typed out this long and quite brilliant (if I do say so myself) theory about the type of person that would have known Mollie was home alone that night (not a specific person mind you, just the type of person). So I’m going along, typing it up and thinking “Hey, I’ll get some links to back up some of the small details I’m posting.”

And once I did that, I found a link that blew my theory out of the water

I was going to mention that it’s possible anyone in town could have known Mollie was alone, even if she didn’t know them. With the brothers in a construction business, in order to make it worth their while to do a job out of town (gas, food, hotels) they probably quite frequently stay gone for several days in a row, and it might be common knowledge around town.

As I’m perusing articles, I came across this one referencing an interview with BJ, Dalton’s brother:

Mollie Tibbetts search: Boyfriend's brother says scrutiny directed at his family unwarranted

“Blake Jack told The Associated Press on Tuesday that on July 18, he was visiting his fiancee, Aimee Houghton, in Ames, where she is working this summer. He said his brother was working a job for their family construction company about 100 miles away in Dubuque.”

I did a search of the forum to see if this had been discussed but didn’t really see anything. I thought the fiancé and brother were working out of town together on a job? I figured they were all out of town for the week, but if he was just visiting his girlfriend, I wonder for how long?

I am not trying to sleuth and/or accuse anyone and I hope I’m not crossing the line with this post. I do not feel the BF, brother or fiancé had anything to do with it. But if the brother wasn’t working a job (which he very well could have been, in addition to visiting his girlfriend), that would narrow down the suspect pool my theory is based on. IMO, it would now have to be someone known to someone in the house to have the confidence in knowing Mollie was alone that night. Otherwise, not knowing if/when the brother might be home would be a huge gamble. That is, if she was taken from the house.

I wouldn’t disagree with this possibility.

The father's new wife? Are you referring to the blonde woman who looked rather upset? She was from a Missing Persons org. I saw no other woman there.
No, I'm not referring to the blonde woman who was head of the state's missing persons bureau or whatever, who spoke at the PC about statistics, etc.

I'm talking about the short haired blonde woman who was standing between Mollie's father and mother who they introduced (couldn't hear her name) as Mollie's father's wife. They're newly married. They live in Oakland, CA. Mollie was out there for their wedding this summer and was her dad's "best man". I felt a bit of an "uh oh" feeling when I saw her in attendance at that PC, because up to that point, MSM had only said Mollie's dad had flown in from CA within a day of being notified Mollie was missing, and his "new wife" (sorry I don't know her name to refer to her personally) I assumed was still in CA until then.

Not with dogs in the basement and only items on her person that she usually had while jogging. I’m convinced she likely went out for another run later or it was dark by the time she returned from the first one. Too small of a town for no one to see anything before dark. I feel it was a sexual predator that had been seeing her around this summer or crime of opportunity. Maybe someone living at Holiday Lake that came to town for groceries a couple times a week. Either way, they very likely abducted, assaulted and killed her within a couple hours. Don’t know the stat, but overwhelming majority that is how it goes. Suicide makes zero sense, family member zero sense, runaway with someone zero sense. Still alive? Extremely doubtful
You have my attention because I have been harping on HOLIDAY LAKE as a spot I think should be vigorously searched, as well as the Martin-Marietta Mine.

Thank you Fire Fox 2, for your input. So sad to learn of your best friend's parents being murdered. It must be life changing and devastating for everyone who knows them!
Yes it was and still is. We are STILL waiting to go to trial. Honestly when the police asked me if I knew of anyone that had it out for them, I said no. I immediately said it COULD NEVER be the guy who did it. We all said he’s clear for sure. Finding out it was him was SHOCKING! LE shocked us too by gathering the story and connecting the dots. They were tortured as well. Good news for us was that LE decided to have every ATM camera checked from their house to where they were found and BINGO. There he was along with the parents.. caught....With the media coverage they said go hide away. We were not thinking clearly but SO GLAD LE said to do that because we had to call family out of town and state. We did not want 1000000 phone calls or visits, etc... I really hope this isn’t the same. But I have a bad feeling...

Oooooh. That's a good thought. Maybe he heard or saw something odd on or around his property the night of the 18th. Could it be that he even called LE over to his house? It would make sense for him to let them search to their hearts desire as much and as long as they wanted to.
This just made me think...do we know who found the red shirt? I know it was somebody mowing, but I don't think I've seen a name mentioned.

I don't think we ever heard who found the red shirt.
When was the red shirt found?
Was the red shirt found on WC property?
When did LE first interview WC?

Eh. I was a psych major (not that it's here nor there, but I was a double major at a pretty small, private college, high academic achiever, etc) and I did a lot of less than smart stuff. Thankfully cell phones were just taking off otherwise I'd probably have had similar pics. It really wasn't until I was entering the workforce that I really started paying attention to what I was putting out there on social media.
Feel like I missed an important chunk here. What are these pics you are referring to? Sorry-so many posts. Trying to catch up...

Her Fitbit last signaled at or around WC property. That’s what took LE there to search in the first place. Mollies possible 3rd missing red tee shirt was found by a Gardner who was mowing the lawn near WC property. Im sure LE would have already tested it for her DNA. If they have confirmed it was hers they are keeping info close to the vest. There again not to raise flags with the possible perp.

Do you have the link to the article that says her fitbit was fpund or last signaled at or around WC property, or from where are you getting this info. Thank you

I wonder if they found something at WC's........

It might be the phone and fitbit were tossed out the window near this guy's farm. And that is why they focused there in the first place. And, then, it turns out the guy may have an interesting history or personality and he gets some extra attention for a time. Some things in life are simply conditions of time and chance. Not everything is nefarious. The police may very well have the phone and not be advertising that fact. We will have to wait and see.
