No disrespect to your thoughts and point of view but WC’s body language are far from that of a socially awkward individual. Behavioral analysis has been practiced for many years by investigators. If you’re a trained observer you can distinguish between social ineptitude and high anxiety while answering questions. WC may just be a guy, no doubt, but it’s my opinion that his body language contradicts much of what he said. Now, he may not care one bit about a missing girl and may even find it amusing. Feigning concern for the situation could account for some of his tells and erasures.
Just to clarify- I was speaking of WC's attire and verbal responses- in no way did I address or mention anything about body language

MSM has referenced there are currently approx. 88,000 people in the USA listed as "missing".

If true - I'm amazed the amount of resources given to this case.
The overwhelming majority of those cases aren’t suspicious disappearances, but voluntary ones that are resolved relatively quickly. The number of disappearances that involve actual foul play, or suspected foul play, are a far lower number.

Has anyone commented on this quote from Mollie's dad? I wonder what he meant by "her world is a mess"? Could it be related to the 3-hr phone conversation they had a few days before she disappeared? I'm brand new here, so sorry if this has been discussed, or if I'm violating TOS in some way...

https://www.google.com/amp/s/people...etts-dad-they-thought-she-was-found-dead/amp/

"She’s smart, she works hard and she is very poised, but her world is a mess and she has attitude and she can’t drive to save her life,” he says of his daughter. “She’s just a young woman like everybody else’s daughter, sister, or girlfriend. She’s not Saint Mollie, is what I’m trying to say. But we need her back.”

They don't have to throw anything. And the Fitbit "coordinates" led to the hog confinement which is on the hard road.

Where are you getting that informatiob? Can you pkease provide the article.

Everything We Know About The Disappearance Of University Of Iowa Student Mollie Tibbetts indicates that the Fitbit "pinged" (which is inaccurate in a few different ways but it's close enough) at the hog farm.

Note this could of course be completely incorrect information. However given that they were specifically searching pig farms, I'm not sure which ones, perhaps the Fitbit stopped transmitting near several such farms.
Aside from the “ping” thing, I don’t think they’ve ever confirmed they got transmitted coordinates. I’m under the impression they probably have a more generalized location along Hwy 21 in the more general vicinity of the hog farms.

New to the site and first time poster......

The longer this case goes, I think the outcome is outright going to shock just about everyone. I think the family has said as much in their interviews. So bear with me as I share an "out there" scenario that I don't think anyone has brought to the group. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Imagine there is a middle aged single mom raising a now adult son with autism or a mental/physical disability that leaves him homebound. The mom had always had dreams of her son being "normal" such as dating, marrying, giving her grandchildren. I can imagine that being a caregiver in this type of a situation would be a big burden and may even affect the mom's mental health. So the mom decides to get a "girlfriend" for her son and bring her home.

So have I been watching too many crime dramas or have an overactive imagination? As I said, I think the outcome will shock most people and we have to think "out of the norm" because "the norm" has not been the way this case has gone so far.

Thoughts?

I do not think this is what happened in any way. Please don't be offended by the question but have you ever been close to a mother with a severely disabled child? I have.. my late brother had down syndrome and CP and don't take this the wrong way, but your theory is simply not part of any reality that would ever occur.

Do you remember when RT said that LE was not sharing information in case family was involved? It was way, way back in the beginning, and I know we discussed it back then. I don't remember what we thought he probably meant by that. Can anyone remind me?

MOD NOTE

It seems a few reminders are once again in order.

Welcome to all of the new WS members. We're glad you're here, but we do ask that you read our terms of service (TOS) and rules before posting.

For everyone, do NOT post rumors from FB or from anywhere else. Do not bait each other. That's a TOS violation. Baiting is basically hinting that you have information that others do not have. If you cannot post something and stay within TOS, then don't post anything.

We have a really cool private messaging system called "conversations". Please take any discussion that violates TOS to your private conversations and do not post about it here on the open forum.

I am about 2/3 of the way through this and wanted to throw out some tidbits for our members who can't view the video. I left out Dad's comments at the beginning which were basically that his previous interview was purely speculation and that he has no particular person in mind.

  • MOM: As far as the investigation goes, they don't know exactly when she went missing. "She told me she was coming home for dinner, but that she was going for a run first."
  • DALTON: Last saw her Tuesday morning before he went to work. He gets up at 4:30, so she was still asleep. He kissed her goodbye while she was still asleep. Wednesday night they were texting back and forth. Just normal conversation. He says the AC didn't work very well in Mollie's room at her mom's so she was basically staying at his house because it was cooler. He describes the normal evening routine at his house as follows: She'd run, then shower or eat (depending on what order) then she'd do some homework, then they'd go to bed.
  • DAD: Last 3 weeks has been a blur, but have gotten more organized. All of the media is meant to drive more tips to law enforcement.
  • MOM: Worked in conjunction with Dalton's employer to get the reward going. Took well over a week to get it running.
  • DAD: Still believes Mollie is alive and said they couldn't function if they didn't.
Just watched the interview...poor Dalton looked like he wanted to start sobbing. Heartbreaking.

Really random thought but also possible: could WC have found her Fitbit and/or Iphone on or near his property and brought it/them inside thinking someone lost them? The phone could have been ringing on silent in his possession and pinging from his house which *looks* really bad when the police show up, but maybe he had plans to try and find the owner or just sell them. If he sold it... maybe he needed LE’s help finding the person he sold it to. Just a thought. IMO seems like he may have been in the wrong place at the wrong time? His record doesn’t help

Edit: I don’t go off on too much of a tangent but if anyone erased her data from the phone completely... yikes

Interesting thought that hasn't been addressed here that I've seen, about the idea of the phone being found/wiped. How come some lost phones can be tracked to their owner and some can't? A friend of mine found an iphone on the street, did all the reasonable things to find the owner, asked nearby, etc, finally she took it to an Apple store but they couldn't get any identifying information from it. Eventually they wiped it clean and offered it to my friend.

The point of the post was that it was first time I'd considered the selfie could have been taken inside a car, instead of in someone's house (unknown specifics in both cases, bf being unsure where it was taken, but not totally familiar background, which is why he said "looked like it was taken indoors"). LE asked Mollie's mom if she could confirm whether Mollie was "in a house" at 9:45 pm (15 minutes before Dalton opened the last snapchat photo from Mollie).

Did she take that last selfie in her bf's house, someone else's house, or in her car or someone else's car? LE hasn't said whether they narrowed that location down.

I believe the original in-context quote from Dalton said that he could not recognize where it was taken, and when he was asked if he could at least say if it was indoors or outside, he thought it was indoors. I remember he was quoted as saying the photo was lit with artificial light rather than sunlight, therefore it seemed to be indoors.

Mollie asked her what the food was, and she said brats.

Mollie responded with nothing but an "OK."

Mollie didn't say she'd be there. As far as we know, no time to eat was identified. I think the "OK" was just an acknowledgement that Mollie knew and understood the invitation and might or might not show up.

Actually the initial quote from mom says Mollie DID say she'd be there. The article says "According to Calderwood, Tibbetts said she would be home" for dinner. The "ok" was in response to being told what the meal was.

Well, if the mother thought she was DEFINITELY coming for dinner, why when it got past what is their usual eating time - 7.30? 8.? 8.30? - did she not call or text her daughter to say hey, what time will you be here, we're waiting to eat? I don't get that.

You never know. All possibilities are on the table until LE says otherwise. Seriously hoping something more telling will be the subject of the delayed LE press conference on Friday, and everyone will have answers on what actually happened to dear Mollie!

Really early I remember seeing an article that mentioned family in Utah. Does anyone remember?
