If someone harmed Mollie, as LE indicates that they now believe, and let's say that the likely perpetrator is a random unknown stranger to them, wouldn't it behoove them to caution the public? Then why haven't they?

Seems like they may have a pretty good idea who did it.

JMO.

And the weights can be offset by a few hundred pounds of dry ice if added to the original weight... It vaporizes into the air when left exposed.
Wow. Didn't know that. Tricky. But don't they- whoever they are- inspect contents before it goes on the road? That's probably not realistic I guess.

AFA car wash cameras: definitely don't rule those out, lol. They're up high on the sides of the bldg (you saw the picture)? I'd only go w condensation because high Iowa humidity, but not water from the hoses themselves. Even so, there's a number of cameras, so a spot on one doesn't render all footage unrecognizable.

One month later, search continues for Mollie Tibbetts

Today marks one month since 20-year-old Mollie Tibbetts vanished from Brooklyn, Iowa.

Assistant DCI Director Mitch Mortvedt says investigators are considering all scenarios but that it's "possible that Mollie has come into contact with someone who has caused her harm."

He asked the public to report information about anyone who has recently displayed odd behaviors.

The site seeks tips from people who were in specific Brooklyn locations on July 18, including a car wash and a truck stop.

hoping for a break in the case.

Also, why would there be a 5 hour timeframe if they pretty much know her locations via cameras and maybe her Fitbit? Why not give the exact times?

My guess is that they're hoping for someone to tell them something to confirm something--I hate how general that sounds but I'm betting if they have a theory and then have someone who can confirm a POI at the time/place LE theorizes they were there, it might help strengthen their case...or help them with questioning a POI...If they're trying to prove someone was in the area and can do so before MT went missing, I think that could also help LE...JMO...

There's a SO on E. Pershing. I'm sure LE has thoroughly checked into any SO's in the area. I hope!
I saw that and wondered about it. The crime took place in 2002 when the victim and perp were both 13. There doesn't appear to be any additional arrests for this crime. It makes me wonder since they were both the same age and kids if it was a one time stupid move on his part. But in sexual assault cases the crime has a very high recidivism rate. Either it was a dumb childhood act that he learned from or he has just gotten better at it and hasn't been caught again.

I find this confusing also. Even if they have an idea as to who it is, would they not still consider this dangerous? I don't understand saying they have no concern of public safety. I'd be scared if this occurred in my town.

You can't warn against what you don't know... Should they just go back to the old "Stranger Danger"? We all know that doesn't work.
