MISSING: Search ongoing for 20-year-old UI Student

UPDATE - Police have sent searchers home for the day with no sign of missing 20 year-old Mollie Tibbetts.

UPDATE - At least 100 people are out looking for a missing 20 year-old woman in Poweshiek County.

Investigators now say Mollie Tibbetts was last seen dog sitting for at a friend's house late Wednesday night. When no one heard from her Thursday, they reported her missing.

Crews are out searching around the Brooklyn area for any sign of Tibbetts, At this point, investigators aren't sure if foul play is involved.

Brooklyn-based TIP Rural Electric Cooperative announced it will offer a $1,000 standing reward. That's in addition to the Crime Stoppers of Central Iowa's $1,000 standing reward that leads to finding Tibbetts or an arrest or conviction in the case.

That information will then be relayed to the Poweshiek County Sheriff's Office, which is leading the investigation.

In the last thread the same queries were posited over and over about who was cleared. This person was cleared but not that one and how about this one and that one. These type of sentiments and statements can be construed as suggesting involvement by individuals in Mollie's close circle of family and friends. Our terms of service very clearly discourages that type of speculation.

TOS and WS rules will be strictly enforced from this point forward. You have been duly warned. Expect a TO or worse if you choose not to follow the rules of this forum and of this case.

To our members posting on Mollie's thread. You may think by tossing out a question like "What about (insert name here) has this person been cleared" it seems totally innocent. It's not at all. You have just inserted an innocent person into a huge nationwide media story and cast doubt on their innocence.

You must understand how powerful your words are especially on Websleuths. We know law enforcement reads here along with many media outlets.

We will never know if the police read our threads and use the ideas from our members but I would be my life on it. Please keep this in mind when you post.

So when you are discussing a case, especially a case as big as Mollie's remember what you post matters and your words are being seen by many.

We will be timing people out or banning outright those who do not stop mentioning innocent people and asking if they have been cleared.

Just wanted to bring this over to the new thread. It was in response to a poster asking if the public should receive more information. thank you for reading.

Oh I totally agree with you. I always remember back to Hannah Graham and when she went missing. Chief Logo held a press conference every single day.

That city supported the police with lunch and dinner served every day so policemen could focus on finding Hannah.

Cameras were found and video was shown to the public of Hannah's last walk. They got their man thanks to all of the fine police work and pictures and video's shown.

Jesse Matthew, the man that killed her, was found on a beach down in Florida by a woman who had seen the case on tv. They even solved the Morgan Harrington case with that capture. Great police work Chief Logo. He is surely my hero!
 
11 days in with no vehicle BOLO or POI. Miracles happen, but they are so infrequent, that's why they are called miracles. May have to wait for the harvest. You can prepare for bad weather or the exam next week. Hard to prepare for pure evil.

Tragic case. Jesse ended up in Galveston Tx and found because of the nation wide exposure! You are so right. His family didn't help in that case at all, if I remember correctly.

She was last officially seen while jogging and the shirt could be missing
Has LE commented on finding the jogging clothes at her home she was reportedly seen in? Have they confirmed or denied finding the work shirt?
where are the clothes she wore on the run? Where is the red shirt?

I'm curious about this too. It seems if they've nailed down a timeline, they'd know whether or not she was wearing work clothes or jogging clothes and what is truly missing.

It's just like another other electric provider. But in rural areas, they usually cover rural portions of several counties. My step-dad and good friends work for our local. They have office employees, meter techs, residential service techs, and linemen and then a sub-group of several tree trimmers who drive around all year trimming back trees and growth away from lines. I think our local has about a dozen bucket trucks, several large pieces of equipment (trenchers and such), and then numerous company owned pickup trucks. They have a large lot behind the main business, but also a larger lot outside of town where they keep more equipment.
