It's not in the child's interest to be there, it's in CR's interest. His atty is going to paint CR as a family man, sit his daughter and ex-girlfriend in the courtroom so people can see them together, show him as a family man with a good heart. And they'll paint Mollie as a nasty person who triggered him, he was just running with her, flirting and Mollie got all uppity. Prepare yourself, it's going to be a heartbreaking ride.
Unless there won't be a trial, which hopefully will be the case. But the girlfriend (or whoever) holding the child sure did look sad. I wonder if it is for Mollie or the defendent?

Do we know for sure he was living there? I read in one article that the owner said he wasn't living there at the time. Sorry, no link. I'm just curious if this has been cleared up.

This may be far a field but Richard Allen's mom owns a real estate biz. Could that be the intersection for how they connected? Some news articles claimed CR lived in Poweshiek county others claim he had moved out of the house there, so where did he live? Iowa city is a sanctuary city isn't it? I hope all there in IA are paying attention to what this guy looks like and checking their rental records.

The farmer said he believed CR had lived in Brooklyn for 7 yrs, worked for them 'almost 4 years'. I believe one of the reasons this guy pulled the wool over them was the change in vetting. I would love to know if this was his first job or if he worked elsewhere before he came to work for this dairy operation? According to the farmer, CR worked during cattle husbandry work. So it looks more and more as though he arrived before the age of 20 - if his age is right? I really want to know if he arrived alone or with REAL family?

Just makes the identity of his family and possibly Catholic church records in Mexico very important to this case. Chances are he was born into a Catholic family and that means there should be records somewhere of his christening and possibly his birth. Also may be records for transfer of membership from one parish to another?

Anyone think he might plead guilty? I feel like since he confessed so quickly after he was spotted and identified, he might. I hope so.

He will not plead guilty, after consulting with his attorney. I see a "blackout" defense coming. It will get dirty. I hope he never draws another breath as a free man. JMO

Dumb question: it's a highway, all sorts of people and things are transported every day on every highway. Is I-80 unique?
In a word, yes. Because of its route, it's easily used not only to transport children, it's used to transport drugs. It runs through major cities (Oakland, Reno, Chicago, Salt Lake City, NYC, Toledo, Cleveland) and goes from CA to NY. If you google trafficking and I-80 you'll get quite an eye opener.

No one is going to buy that. Who sees a girl jogging and then gets out and starts running with her? And then wakes up at an intersection, then drives to a cornfield where he leaves a body... before he 'knows' he has a body in his trunk?

His story doesn't make sense now and will likely make less sense once the autopsy and other evidence is in. I think it's going to be extremely difficult for this atty to make Mollie the bad girl who 'made' anything that happened, happen.
I hope not. I hope people remember what happened and it really is important that Mollie's friends and family pack those hearings.

I think most Interstates span the US, either north/south or east/west. What makes I-80 different from I-90 which is also coast to coast?
I-80 becomes I-90 eastbound just outside Chicago. I-80 is across the nation's agricultural center of Iowa, Nebraska where there are many migrant farm workers.

My local news covers Iowa and they are doing an excellent job covering this case. There is no way CR is going to "escape" anything. I do question why his 3-year-old child was in the courtroom. That isn't in her best interest, imo.
Sympathy. I think it was meant to be in his best interest .

Just from what we know now, obviously there is very little chance ANY defense will be successful.

I would say it's the crime in the cities interstate 80 connects, as well as the other interstates it connects with, that make it a corridor for criminals. I80 map is in second photo below.

Well, her daughter will no longer have a daddy either. I'll bet she is upset about all of it. I know I would be. She's young also and is probably having a hard time digesting all of this. She too is now a victim and so is her daughter.

It could be registered in the same name he was using with his employer. They said he had a driver's license and a SS card, but not in the name of Rivera.
I'm surprised the media hasn't found out what that name is yet.
And then there's always that small element of truth ... it's quite possible that his "fake name" just might me the first 2 of his 5 or 6 part name! I recently found out just how difficult true identity can be when researching a Cuban baseball player without knowing all of his "joined names."
