#BREAKING Rivera Pleads Not Guilty in Murder of Mollie Tibbetts, Trial Scheduled for April of 2019 http://via.whotv.com/IhQXS #MollieTibbetts

I did not see Mollie's parents or siblings in the courtroom.
I think there were some other family members there.

Edited to add:
Maybe I see LC there, with a different hairstyle.

I would think it would be just a tightly regulated as this one is what I meant. Second thought they are two different animals.
Very different. Here there is one killer and one victim. No verified insiders who knew either one. Yet there is still so much to consider. I learned a lot on this case. Every thing from Fit - bits to the stages of decomposition. Lots of different viewpoints. To me, that's what WS is all about. All the different parts come together to try to figure out all the details of the crime. Like I said, I was lucky that this was the first case I followed. Jmo

This thread has had its share too, quite honestly. There are always a few in every case who try to hijack a thread to push their own narrative. This thread has been very tightly moderated, but when it was hot, you will remember it got closed almost daily at least once because it was getting so out of hand. It is what it is, and it happens in most high profile cases. JMO
True, but there is no comparison.

Well, I guess we have a long wait. Why does it always take so long? How is that much time needed to prepare? Or is it because of other cases going to trial? I know it always seems to take forever but I don't understand why.

Everything that's going to be presented by the prosecution at trial has to be shared with the defense before trial. The prosecution also has to share anything that could be exculpatory to the defense as well, even if the prosecution doesn't plan to introduce it at trial. That's known as the Brady rule or a Brady disclosure.

At the end of the day it just takes a lot of time for both sides to line up expert witnesses, get them up to date on the facts, receive and share the evidence reports, have experts review the scientific evidence, interview each witness, prepare your own witnesses to testify, etc. And everything has to be done in a neat and organized way so if there is an appeal either side can defend the work they did. Lawyering is 90% paperwork.
