Annoyed, but def scared too. Good. It’s kind of funny. You cover your face if you’re embarrassed, but she claims to support her son, and his innocence. Those don’t jibe.
Curious as to what you would do if you were the mother and he was your son? Would you smile? Would you scowl? Would you stare blankly? Would you hide your face? Any of those could be criticized.

I'm not sure how I would react. I certainly wouldn't want my face splashed on the front pages of tabloids.

I have 2 adult sons, and if they were suddenly arrested for a horrendous crime I'd express grief for the victims' families and I'd stand by my son. By 'stand by' I mean that I would help him deal with the consequences of his actions if he is found guilty. I wouldn't just jump to the guilty part. If they were found guilty (or I believed them to be guilty) I'd tell them to accept the consequences that they deserve for their actions. ...and that I'd be there for them to find out why they committed such a horrendous act. I'd be angry and disappointed and devastated. I'd also be suffering grief at the loss of my family, for what I thought it was. Grief is not a quick process.

In this case his mother needs time to determine for herself that her son is guilty. And she needs time to grieve. Her world has ended.

He's a big guy and I noticed some red markings on his arm, not only in the pull over pick but also in a close up on DM when they were escorting him into court.

Can anyone provide info on the reasons that allowed police to enter during the night?
Special weapons and tactics unit (SWAT) assisted PA State Police with the arrest of fugitive BK and they are known to enter late at night as an element of surprise. It's part of the police knock-and-announce rule.

Rule 207, Manner and Entry Into Premises is provided for in Pennsylvania Rule of Criminal Procedure 207.

Through this article, it seems like BK's family is very close knit and very compassionate towards each other.

I can see him having an interest and/or curiosity I'm the way killer's think - especially since at least one of his sisters work in the field of mental health - but I just can't picture a person raised with love and family values committing those murders.

Don't get me wrong, I have a LOT of faith in all the investigators and if they say BK did it, then I'm sure he did it. I just think it's got to be hard on his family. Not as hard as the victims families though, no doubt.

Anyway, JMO

Are you asking about the extra "probable cause" requirements?

I would think it's use of a weapon in 4 homicides, flight from the place of the homicide, possibility of other arms inside the house not ruled out, BAU says he's a homicide/suicide risk, etc.

Judge looked at the case and agreed pretty quickly, I'd guess.
I would add - BK's extensive knowledge of criminology and the fact they they reviewed the sealed documents from Idaho. Also, maybe something(s) they observed while watching BK in Pennsylvania.

Because there's no evidence and no venue? He never went to a college that had a boxing team (that we know of). Most community colleges do not have boxing teams. Many universities do not either.

Now, he could have joined a gym with its own private competitions - but that's not the same as competing in the arena that leads to the Olympics. There are all these classes in MMA/boxing and it's just for fitness.

I assume that's what he did until we hear otherwise. No one should believe he was a competitive boxer until there's evidence.

However, as a hobbyist, he certainly would have learned to jab and do the upper cut, essential in the kind of crime he committed. He probably hoped it would be enough of an outlet to keep him from acting on his compulsions.

IMO. MOO.

I'm going to get roasted for this but I don't think he looks weird or crazy at all. He looks like half the lawyers walking the halls of corporate law firms.

I think that makes this whole thing even scarier. With Manson, Adam Lanza, Brian Mitchell (Elizabeth Smart), the Colorado shooter, they all looked bonkers. This guy looks like a mildly attractive accountant.
No roasting from me. I think he looks clean cut. I think the fact that people suspect his guilt affects their view on his looks.

Right. He reminds me of those 1-2 students in the back row who on first day of class when I give a cheery hello, they just practice their resting B-face and stare back. If I smile at them, they continue with that same look. That's a bit odd, in terms of first day sociality and yep, it does act as a buzz kill.

They are going to be the same 1-2 students who argue about their grades (and there will be some sweet-faced ones who do too), Heck, sometimes half the class has that kind of look on first day (assertive, wary, challenging). But the back row guys who continue in that mode are always interesting. Other students will start avoiding them, especially women. They look very "straight" in the 70's use of the term, unapproachable. They will email all their questions, they will refuse to ask them in class. If they do talk in class, they will start an argument that's off-topic, but usually, they're just really quiet except for the emails.

Of course, BK has every reason to put on that face in the booking room. But I still think these guys practice keeping a more still, stoney face, whereas other young men naturally smile, their faces show attention and engagement and cooperation, etc.

Well, I don't think he could be just "anyone" in an office with that look. But his look is more appropriate in a booking room. And many people aren't able to look that composed in a booking photo, especially with charges like these.
I'm not sure that I've seen any photos of him appearing engaging and smiling. I guess there are photos such as these...but I haven't seen them. Flat affect?

Side note and totally Moo...I see his face structure/ features and I think Fragile x.

My impression is more that here is a middle-aged or older woman, who a week ago was living an ordinary, mundane life in a rural part of Pennsylvania, and suddenly the bottom has dropped out of her life.

I think she covered her face, JMO, due to being overwhelmed. She hadn't prepared for a life where photographers from all over the country are trying to take her picture, reporters are going to be shouting questions at her, and people everywhere are judging her and her husband.

If she privately harbors doubts about her son's innocence, that's for her to know, but I see covering up as a self-protective maneuver and not because she's sure her son is guilty.

It's an action that to me screams "make this all go away."

IMO
Your response is what I wished my response had been.
Thank you.

People reporting tips aren't going to care about the nuisances and tiny differences between a 2011-2013 and a 2015. The average person probably wouldn't even be able to point them out.

Also, I doubt LE would say "hey.....this is a 2015 so we're not going to forward this info to the Moscow police"
His possible excuse for not coming forward on his own…responding to the issue of why he did not self report.

you missed the context.

It's interesting that we have heard nothing about any girlfriends.I'm very curious to know about his relationships with women.
My guess is because he didn't have any. While he was nice enough looking it's been said he's awkward and creepy.

Thirty-four-year-old Jordan Serulnec, who owns Seven Sirens Brewing Company in Bethlehem, PA, told NBC News in a report published this weekend that Mr Kohberger was known for making inappropriate comments to female customers and staff.

The business has a system that allows staff to add notes to customers’ profiles when their IDs are scanned. After he read what his employees had written about Mr Kohberger, Mr Serulnec decided to confront the now-accused murderer.

“Staff put in there, ‘Hey, this guy makes creepy comments, keep an eye on him. He’ll have two or three beers and then just get a little too comfortable,’”

No roasting from me. I think he looks clean cut. I think the fact that people suspect his guilt affects their view on his looks.

Oh, well, if it's his "clean cut looks," in my years of working with newly jailed people (and with, for example, LE officers who are newly arrested) and in training I've received from investigators and detectives, the one early thing they taught me is "It's never the guy who looks weird. Trust us, we've already got tabs on him"

Every pedophile arrested in my town has looked "normal" (and they are usually of a certain age - it's made many of us who work for or with LE or psychiatry pull back from defining Ordinary White Male as "normal" if their behavior is the least bit off or suspicious,"

One very seasoned (award winning) LEO, high up in rank, said, "It's never the guy with a lot of piercings, it's never the guy with a Mohawk" who commits the worst crimes. And sometimes, of course, it's a woman. Which in the early days, we did consider here.

As someone who interacts with criminals (imprisoned and otherwise) I do have my own way of parsing how people look. People should perhaps revise how quickly they dismiss some groups (but not others) from their "guilty" rubric. In this case, it's so far just the booking shot that's made me uneasy. IMO, he's clearly attempting (hard, real effort) to look like the poster for American Psycho (which I bet he's read). MOO.
