He seems to be trying to not give info about where he was going or coming from. Every time his dad starts to talk about it, he quickly talks over him. This was my takeaway.
The Thai food seems like a strange cover. I can't think of may trips on an interstate to get to carry out. Also, I would think before using the Thai food explanation you should know the location.

Apparently he already has Idaho counsel. So they would already have all of this. He must be given an initial appearance within 24 hours or as soon as practical. So he will have that court appearance this evening or first thing in the morning. I'm sure the Latah Sheriff's Office, District Attorney and Court are figuring that all out.
Thank you.

Shouldn't he have had to pass a standardized test with similar logic/inference questions to be admitted to a PhD program? Such skills are tested on the GRE or were in my day. But I believe I read somewhere a GED is not a requirement for admission to his master's program.

Maybe off topic but could BCK be on the spectrum? Asperger's?
I wouldn't rule it out. May not be relevant to the murders, but still possible that he is on the spectrum.

Yep; they’re a surprisingly good source.

If BK committed these crimes, he must be loving being infamous already.
I got that impression when he did his first perp walk yesterday coming out the vehicle to enter the courthouse. That first glance to the right like oh let’s see how much media attention I’m getting “yeh here i am guys”
But maybe I’m being snarky and am misinterpreting?? I’d have my head down in complete and total shame. guilty or not guilty I’d be mortified in total shock and hanging my head down in complete shame wanting to literally disappear.

Some perps do put their heads down in some sort of shame

It is strange. And a NYT reporter called the only Thai place in the area and he was told they did not go there.

Re: The Indiana traffic stops.

As has been noted before, Indiana is a state where weed is not legal at all. It is surrounded by states where it is legal. Indy is called the Crossroads of America and there is a great deal of movement of goods in the area. Goods both legal and illegal.

Weed is legal in WA state and likely both cops were well aware when they saw the WA plate.

all MOO

They are also providing more details on BK's citation for not wearing his seatbelt:

Driving the 2015, white Elantra with PA tags, the stop occurred about 1.5 miles from the King Road murder scene on Sunday, Aug 21 at 11:40 PM.

Guess BK started prowling in Moscow soon after arriving at WSU.

Curious when the Latah County Sheriff and/or municipal court alerted Moscow PD about this known vehicle in the system. o_O

Hmmm.... out rather late on a Sunday night, or, maybe I'm just old.

If that is all we have to prove that LE was tracking them the entire way from WA to PA, that is not much. MOO
Going back to the DNA match, imagine if there was no familial genealogical data available for BK, I wonder how far along the investigation would be?? They would only have the car to go on as BK’s DNA wasn’t on file. Perhaps that’s why he thought he could get away with it (not realising that a family member had submitted DNA for ancestry type purposes). MOO.

"We had officers breaking down at the scene," a law enforcement source who is familiar with the case tells PEOPLE in its latest issue. "It wasn't a clean crime scene. There was cross contamination between the rooms. This wasn't a professional job — this was something more haphazard."

….

"We're operating on the assumption that at least one of the victims knew the person or persons responsible," says the police source. "But nothing is really off the table. We don't want to rule anything out until we know for sure."
Interesting statement from the police source... the person or persons responsible...
MOO

wow

You're motivating me to go find that neighbour(?) quote which says that he often wasn't home til midnight.

(otoh If anybody can already remember who that neighbour was, that would save time)

also - what date was the first noise complaint body cam? The August one which involves, iirc, Kaylee?

Whoa!!!!! While i believe the conversation with the 'law enforcement source' came before the gag order, this is the first I have heard that BK was following two of them on instagram?? Maybe I missed this but have been trying to keep up with the threads. Is this new information??

Well, neither of the three is great at pragmatic, social, speech. Cop is trying to be easygoing, but I would often hear, "OK, I am heading to the house", or, "I am heading for lunch". Only "I am heading home" requires no preposition, so technically speaking, "heading for Thai food" is as good as "heading to Pocono mountains". Bryan is very concrete, but his dad is not much better, answering "we are driving from WSU" (equal to "head off").

Of course, the cop, standing in the middle of the road leading through Midwest, in interested in non-Indiana license plates, so technically, from or to, it is through Indiana that is important for him. He doesn't care about prepositions. Bryan's answer "for Thai food" could be calming ("we mean no harm in your state, just to spend some dollars on food here"), only I don't think BK is that deep.

We, foreigners, struggle with pragmatics. A teacher's report about my kid, "a pleasure to have in classroom", was a puzzle (is he so great, or there is nothing else to say about him?). And there is a whole list of "what Americans really mean" ("This is a brilliant idea, we surely should get back to it", means, no). Pragmatics are hard for people who grew up in a different culture. BK, being an American, should be able to navigate it easily. His dad, too. They can't.
There are some of us who look normal, but we're a hair off. Maybe we've had trauma in our childhood. Maybe we're neurologically wired a bit differently (neurodivergent), or maybe the way our chemistry balances is not the same way the general culture rocks chemistry. We're the ones who are going to be awkward in our own cultures, always the foreigner, stranger in a strange land. Whole books are written in our names.
