Overkill, targeted crime of passion....rage killing 4 people in that time frame there will be perp DNA everywhere.....God bless the advancements in DNA testing to help solve this unimaginable crime
The thing is that though it reads like a rage killing, the crime scene may well tell an entirely different story.
We simply do not know.
I suspect it was horrendous.

“This person was asleep unfortunately, (and) was not getting the calls,” Goncalves’ mother, Kristi Goncalves, recently told TODAY. “If Kaylee was in imminent danger — her or Maddie — they would have called 911. They would not have been calling this person.”

Sorry; my quote didn't show up the way they usually do. In a week, K's mother has gone from "they'll be getting back together and probably get married and have children" to calling him "this person." That says a lot! Great find Cota332!
“This person” maybe, because she wanted to protect the person who she thinks is innocent from additional slander by not naming him?
Regarding this incel theory.
Can anyone point to a case where an incel attack was followed by an escape? It seems like they want to get caught and get credit, much more like the workplace and school shooting mass killers. Not like this...

Not sure if he was self-proclaimed incel, but this one, Arcan Cetin, likely, was (crying out women’s names when shooting). Left the mall and was arrested when he went to a library the next day.

Houses are usually rented out as an entire unit. Apartments tend to be rented bed by bed
It can be either and it’s the landlord’s choice. It’s easier to have one lease for the building but the wheels fall off when one roommate leaves and the others can’t make up the rent. On the other hand if leases are separate it can also be a problem if the landlord rents a vacant room to someone the existing tenants don’t like.

As a landlord, the thought of renting a 6 bedroom house just off-campus makes my head hurt.

911 caller reports 'suspicious man' removing tip line posters

A 911 caller in Moscow told police that they had seen a "suspicious" man walking around removing posters with information about a tip line last Tuesday.
It's not clear exactly what tip line that was, but there is a good chance it was the Moscow Police Department's tip line at 208-883-7180, which has been advertised in connection with this month's murders.

Too bad he didn't take some video from his phone when he saw that ...

Important to check state laws, too; https://www.ag.idaho.gov/content/uploads/2018/04/LandlordTenant.pdf

Think about trying to sneak into a building at three in morning, with plans to kill 4 individuals, in 3 different bedrooms, on 2 different floors, with only 1 knife. And then, quietly disappear back into the night like nothing happened. What could go wrong? Everything. If the military were planning this, it would take months.
Don't forget the Minordetail of a d-o-g that could potentially extract your DNA in a way that you'd have to bring him with you as to not leave it behind...

Some house are rented floor by floor. 2 bedrooms, both have to be rented on the same contract for that floor. I think there a lot of different ways rentals are handled.
In this case, my info is dated & not pertinent to the most recent housemates.

In the past, this house was rented as a whole house to groups of students. Income was verified for all leaseholders because no single student could afford the rent. If a vacancy arose, leaseholders were responsible for the entire rent. If finances were an issue, the house was highly motivated to find replacements suitable for the house ~and~ that could pass the property management’s requirements.

Moo

I, too, feel like the killer was a local, and perhaps living or often visiting very near to the house. Someone who could see the comings and goings of the students at the house. A very angry, and / or very envious person.

I keep thinking of this movie quote:

What does he do, Clarice? What is the first and principal thing he does, what need does he serve by killing? He covets. How do we begin to covet? We begin by coveting what we see every day.”

― Thomas Harris, The Silence of the Lambs
Very eery!

Why? Moscow actually has an ordinance (Title 10 Police Regulations sec 1-22) about posting flyers, etc.

While MPD would surely turn a blind eye in this horrific instance, not everyone would. This community has had significant issues with divisive/inappropriate things being posted in violation of our regulations, including white supremacy flyers, etc & stickers by a group that cannot be named on WS. As a result, some downtown business owners are very vigilant.

I think sometimes it’s easy to misunderstand things that make perfect sense when one doesn’t know a community. JMHO

UPDATE on Vigil at UI - this is a Tweet from the Argonaut, the UI student newspaper
moved indoors where they can photograph every person there and have people planted throughout.

Thank you.

Quoting myself…Health & Safety means:

Health & Safety: Violations or concerns regarding Risk Management, Alcohol/Drugs, or Hazing

'Or Hazing' is interesting. Revenge kills? Perhaps the brother of a sorority girl.

Interesting tidbit from James Fitzgerald the other day stating "He (killer) apparently left no fingerprints behind, no blood on his part and no DNA..."
