I'm not convinced that the killer didn't come home -with- E&X. Someone who claimed they needed a place to crash for the night. Maybe said they'd had an argument with their girlfriend, or had locked themself out, or perhaps got tossed out of the frat?

If E&X invited the person to sleep on the couch, they'd be in the house, know where everyone was sleeping, and know when things got quiet and everyone went to sleep. If they came in after the 1st floor roommates went to bed, they probably wouldn't even know anyone was down there.

Must have done a pretty good job of hiding a pretty large knife!

Interesting (and in line with some of my thoughts). Do you think this was a friend of E&X? Friend of a friend? I'm leaning to this person not being connected to this particular frat house, but I'm very curious who was in the King Road house overnight that night.

Did you see that guy pull a baseball bat out of his sweat pants the other day? Hiding the knife would be easy, I think. The blood, not so easy.

Any of the motives that have been discussed here. If (for example) the perp was a fellow frat member and also secretly had a thing for one of the girls (or secretly held a grudge against one), the 'excuse' to stay at the house could have been a pre-planned invention.

I believe that Brian Etin interviewed the house president, with the president saying that there are no cameras on the property

I'm a retired police officer/investigator and I can tell you there is nothing that states we have tell the truth about something while trying to solve an investigation, information is withheld if it is for the good of the case and solving it (such as there is no suspect- that type of lie). Im not talking about the dirty lies you might be thinking of such as planting evidence or some other BS. What I'm saying is police are not obligated to tell the public everything in the midst of an investigation and sometimes to catch a killer you have to use Psychological warfare

Been on a Dateline podcast binge myself recently; can confirm several stories of police deception from many different jurisdictions, for the good of the investigation.

Do knife wielding murderers have a particular vehicle of choice?

The reason I said that was because everyone is jumping to conclusions about the significance of the vehicle. As if the LE who havent given out any information all of a sudden makes a PSA about the vehicle they believe the murderer was driving/escaped in. It seems very unlikely and after reading 24 threads about people still discussing if a doodle barks or not, I was stating what my opinion. Thanks.

IMO if the killer was well known to the victims then the attack would’ve been following some type of falling out (eg break up, fight, theft, betrayal, etc.). If that were the case than I doubt the perp would’ve been welcome in the house/it would be weird to the occupants for he/she to want to be in the house around them. Because of that opinion, I can’t see the perp having gone back to the house with any of them or been invited to stay. I believe that if the killer knew the victims and killed as an act of revenge (so to speak) that they snuck into the house rather than the occupants being aware they were there.

Large knife is relative term. Larger than a pocket knife? Larger than a standard steak knife? Larger than a carving knife? A standard combat knife can be hidden in the top of a boot next to your calf if your pants leg is loose enough (think boot cut jeans), stuffed down the back of your pants with a jacket over the top or in an inside pocket of a Winter jacket. It's not that hard to hide one of those, IMO.

I never had the impression it was sword size and I thought a machete size was a stretch.
a knife can easily be hidden in a bag. Bags are common appendages for many people.
