Considering all the true crime stories I have listened to my money is on a person who came to the house for one thing. It was going to be sexual assault and possible murder from a stalker who had been eyeing one girl. He entered the house on wrong floor and ran into very drunk boy and girl and didn’t want to be spotted so he got them first. He went to next floor and was surprised at her being in same bed with other girl. They were very drunk and disoriented and he had to viciously and wildly swing at both. He didn’t go to other floor of the two survivors because he had already found the one he was stalking. DNA will lead the police to catch him I think from another attempted crime he will commit or has already committed. We lost a very popular news anchor here years ago and this is exactly what happened. They will catch him in next few weeks I think.

Its possible though that the first Hyundai is actually a Prius and was misidentified.

I wonder if LE may have had tunnel vision in the beginning of the case, believing that the perp had to be from the community.

This is what MPD said on November 15th:

based on information from the preliminary investigation, investigators believe this was an
isolated, targeted attack and there is no imminent threat to the community at large.

Do you think he carried in his phone into the house to commit murder? Or sat outside the house with it for 10-15 minutes scouting?

My point is there may have been incremental steps to him returning home, and be seen entering his residence bloody.

Exactly, like find a dumpster to dump his clothes, or gloves. etc.

2 a.m. to 5 a.m. This is when Latah County Coroner Cathy Mabbutt said the homicides occurred. Moscow Mayor Art Bettge previously told the Statesman that police told him they believed the deaths were 3-4 a.m.

I’m not sure how, but you can plug in the gas station address and pull up google maps. The white in the photo appears to be snow. The camera seems to be near eye level (it’s not looking down on the car). I visualize the camera may be mounted on the north side of the gas canopy….potentially.

*If only we had CCTV like the UK has used for years. Remember the Scotland airport terrorist? How MI6 and Scotland Yard was able to track them down in real time using those millions of state of the art extensive CCTV CAMERAS all over almost every inch of the country. They have a reported 5.2 million in use, which is 1 camera for every 13 people. Why they even utilize speed cameras on the roadways. They literally solve and prevent a LOT of crime.

At great cost to civil liberties.

Um, couldn’t the businesses with cams have submitted footage from that day/night before police came asking? Seems silly they’d sit on it until after no longer available. I would be checking if I had a biz in that town. JMO.

I've been looking for anything to support the idea that one of them wore a fitbit, as that would upload heart rate changes, which could indicate time of death as happening before 4 AM. So far nothing. No fitbit. No witnesses. Maybe it's a wider time of death, but why 6 AM? Is it because they had just eaten pasta and digested some food? Would alcohol slow down the process?

I went pouring through the girls’ social medias last week (Ethan didn’t have much of a presence and what he did have was locked down asap) and I didn’t see any of them wearing a fit bit or Apple Watch or any device like that. I get where they’re starting at 3am, likely because they believe the girls made the calls to J and the last one was just a few minutes before 3. Or maybe after the last call one of them sent a Snapchat. I’m not sure why they used 6am as an end time though. I guess the 6am is really only in reference to requests for surveillance and not necessarily time of death. Maybe they aren’t wanting any surveillance after 6am because the sun would be beginning to rise and they don’t think the perp would be crazy enough to leave in the daytime? That’s probably a logical assumption, but it wouldn’t be reasoning enough for me to basically let people know that I don’t wanna see what ya got past 6am, thanks though! I hope it’s more than just the fact that it was daylight.

Can you use Google maps, type in Mobile or Exon Moscow, ID and the click on the layers to show a street view which will outline the roads in blue. Then zoom in on the blue line you desire to look at the road from and click on it on the west side intersection of White & Hwy 8 and identify a similar structural view as shown in the news article. Note from a certain vantage point, the image of the car does not show the entire street. I believe the car was traveling east and headed north after passing the gas station on hwy 8.

I think after looking at street view link from another poster earlier in the thread the camera is located on the north side of the building and faces north. The northwest corner of the building is relatively close to White Avenue and that is where the google streets shows a camera on the building.

It is mind-boggling to me that police supposedly waited 9 days to review security footage from businesses in the area.

Yes indeed....With all of the resources and investigators that LE keeps saying they have working on this case, you would think capturing video from all exterior cameras with a a certain radius of the crime scene (especially possible entrance or escape routes) would be done way before 9 days in.

Very helpful. We also have a neighbor reporting they may have heard a screen around 4. I believe 3:45 AM is too late to arrive at a home without scouting it to know who is at home. I thought the activity of calls being made supported a theory the murders occured near the time of the girls last calls to their friend.

Awesome, thank you! So officially, 2am - 5am, but I’m going to guess more like 3am - 5am since I’m assuming the calls to J were really from the girls. IMO

This is likely a really dumb question… but based on the image of the car at the petrol station, am I correct in assuming the following based on the direction of the car in the image…

- if the car is on White Ave then it’s travelling WEST towards Troy Rd/Styner Ave

- if the car is on Troy Rd then the car is travelling South-East towards the McDonalds and Subway

? Camera’s don’t do some weird image flip thing do they? Because if that’s the case than we would surely have the direction of travel for certain for either White or Troy. It would also mean my earlier theory was incorrect.

Approximately 3 to 5 a.m. The four students, who were believed to be sleeping at the time, are killed in the house. The coroner later states some had defensive wounds, and each was stabbed multiple times. There was no sign of sexual assault.
