House cleanup stoppage today came because of a "legal request from the court" per Chief Fry. MPD did not order it.

Edit: Added stoppage to state correct content.
Would they take jurors through there with it still so bloody? Too prejudicial or perfectly accurate??

I'm so glad they caught him!!

BBM below
"Neighbors at the Steptoe Village, the WSU housing complex mostly inhabited by graduate or PhD students, among others, described the area as "quiet" and nestled in the city of Pullman, which is typically "so safe." "

Remember the Jack in the Box bag on the 1122 King kitchen table in one of the photos published on the DM and then Fox News IIRC ? And in prior threads there was discussion about how the closest Jack in the Box was in Pullman?
Here is a visual of how close the Pullman Jack in the Box is to the Steptoe Village student apartments where BK lived:

Was anyone on WS ever able to see the date and/or time on the Jack in the Box bag receipt? I can't remember.
Anyway, I wonder if BK first saw some or all of them in Pullman (could have been before 11/13), followed them to Moscow at some point, and remained fixated.
BK didn't live in Pullman for very long, only 3-5 mos depending on whether his lease started in Summer or Fall. Yikes!
here's the bag, for anybody who hasn't seen it (I already had the link open)

Wow. What an interesting hypothesis. Very little psychological or psychiatric research or any other research done on *this* subject. But there are data from non-American cultures about the impact of hunting on kids - it's not always easy for them to become hunters.

I hope we get a biography of this person. Or someone gets to study them in prison. It's the kind of thing I would love to do - too old now. Someone needs to do it. Frankly, criminologists and criminal justice majors should jump on it.

I'm going with schizophrenia onset w/paranoid/grandiose delusions w/homicidal commands in the last 6 months, and with prodromal signs (re:OCD/orthorexia, possible hard drug abuse) dating back to his mid teens.

My opinion.

Unless there’s a court order. Then, sites like ancestry/23 share (my understanding).
Edited for clarity/to remove typo.
I know 23andme will actively fight against relating to LE. It’s not easy to get data from them. They’ve released zero records since 2015 in the US.

Thanks for the reminder about the Jack in the Box bag. I still find it kinda odd.
MOO: JITB is not probably worth a 15 minute drive

To be honest, I don't think it would have mattered how well he is built. The victims were all sleepy, unarmed, exhausted and more than likely drunk. Even Ethan, despite his physical advantage, wouldn't be much of a threat in that state. Killer also had the first shot on the majority of his victims.

Honestly, for a criminal psychologist, this attack seems pretty stupid to me. I've said it since the beginning but this attack was so risky in either getting caught or for your own physical well being, it's the last place you'd hit if you want to "get away with it". Yet... he did it for some reason. I wonder if there's more. I'd be curious to hear what his motive is and whether there is more to this than meets the eye or if he is indeed incredibly stupid.

But it might have mattered to him. While virtually anybody is capable of an impulsive rage crime, I don't think this is that (at all).

If a person is trying to plan the perfect crime (and motivate himself to be a strong, manly man kind of person), they will work out. Pictures of this person over time show an overweight (slightly but visibly) teenager, who then slims down and then bulks up to some degree. HE thinks he needs to be stronger/use strength. I think a lot of killers think this way. They want to be strong, swift, etc.

So I do think it matters to the psychology of killers. He also chose a situation where the victims were most disadvantaged (so he is a coward, as stated by Mr G and IMO).

He's not a smart criminologist. He's a man who took 10 years after high school to get into a Ph.D program in criminology and then BLEW IT by killing people. If this is his first kill, I'll still stick by that. But I think his other crimes are lesser and so far undetected. I don't think he will a hardcore criminal record (so far, just a seatbelt violation).

Lots of academics lack common sense. And there's absolutely NO protection from a mentally disordered mind (many things can cause this). I don't think his main goal was not getting caught. The defiant, studied stare into the mug shot camera is unusual. I think it's aimed at someone - probably his family.

Motive is likely to be incomprehensible to everyone else and he will never take the stand. He's not stupid, he's disordered. Like many, many killers, too many to mention.

Arresting him on the same day LE ordered cleaning that likely would destroy any evidence useful to the defense would look shady.
Did LE order the cleaning or were they just going to release the house and owner was going to have it cleaned?

It may be different everywhere but here in AZ, the house belonging to a close friend of mine had a horrible and atrocious crime occur inside of it. One the investigation was over, LE basically release the house back to her and it was thru victim services she found a company who specialized in cleaning up crime scenes; at which point she contacted & scheduled. She had to pay for it out of her own pocket though.
