"And now all this time later I still believe his exhaustion was genuine". Meh these things write themselves. Wasn't personally coming for you FYI but just wanted to address some of what you said. I prefer not to quote the apologist who was right above you in the thread...

You don't think he was exhausted? I believe he was, no matter what he was or wasn't guilty would have nothing to do with how tired he was.

I don't see why it's a problem to make an observation. :dunno:

Perhaps "The apologist" has dealt with things you don't understand and has a different pov.

Yes no problem on my end. I understand others have different feelings about who's involved or not. I don't dispute the parents looked tired I just feel the other stuff I pointed out is the more important takeaway from their interviews. As I stated in one of my posts we are late in this game most people have picked their sides, there are people who are pro family, anti family, and varying degrees in between. I am strongly anti family so of course I don't agree with people who are saying they believe the family isn't involved.

If I was too antagonistic in my approach I apologize. I truly believe the parents are guilty so it colors my feelings because I feel like sticking up for them is sticking up for guilty people. I do understand not everyone shares my opinion.

Hopefully there will be closure for everyone involved one of these days.

Hi everyone! I haven't posted on Deorr's thread in a while, but thought I would give a heads up that People Magazine Investigates is airing on Investigation Discovery Monday night 9pm Central Time. I saw a brief advertisement for it and it looks and sounds like the mother is throwing some serious shade toward a man they encountered at the convenience store.

I'm not "pro family" or "anti family." I'm staunchly pro DeOrr. I said uothread that I want to believe the parents. I do want to. I want to believe whatever happened wasn't on purpose or covered up. Bonneville county hasn't arrested them. Lehi county either. So there's not absolute definitive evidence that they're the cause for his disappearance at this point. So I'm not comfortable making absolute definitive statements that they're guilty or not. I hope they aren't.

Before placing labels on me, reread my post. I didn't say they are innocent I said I want to believe they are. And bluesneakers didn't say either way in her comment about dad's exhausted look. I thought she was kindly and subtly pointing out his perceived exhaustion could have been for many reasons.

At the beginning of this case I said if the parents were found to be the cause I'd eat my shoe on video on ws. I wish I was still that confident. Now I just hope and want to believe they're innocent.

You and I have the luxury to believe what we want to believe.

LE do not. They must follow the facts and the evidence. I am grateful for that.

They have a tougher situation. LE has more info than we do but it might not necessarily be evidence to convict....so they know who did it. But they can't do anything about it.

SABBM

Well that's interesting.
Why the hell didn't she say it right from the start ? Why bring it up now ?

Who remembers a possibly shady dude from 2 1/2 years ago... at the convenience store, no less ?
Just wondering.

Vernal will not appear because he has been advised by his attorney not to give interviews.

I believe they interview everyone else.

Is the mother referring to the stranger in the black Jeep? I haven't watched the show but I'll try and find it. If that's what she's referring to then she did mention it early on. From August 25, 2016 in an interview with the former investigator Deorr's parents hired:

After several weeks of searching, the family enlisted the help of Montpelier-based private detective Frank Vilt. Vilt said there have been several tips about a suspicious man nearby in Leadore and further away in Swan Valley, east of Idaho Falls.

The man is described as being in his 50s and having whitish, gray hair with curls at the bottom. He was driving a new-looking black Jeep Rubicon.

Kunz's mother recalls seeing the man at a store in Leadore the morning of her son's disappearance. Vilt said a couple reported seeing a similar-looking man July 18 -- first while hiking in the Palisades and later at a convenience store in Swan Valley.

In January 2016 Philip Klein discounted the man as being involved.

A news release from the firm said that an animal attack, kidnapping and a separate party at the campground near Leadore who could have taken or hurt DeOrr have been ruled out as a cause for the 3-year-old’s disappearance. Klein said the suspicious black Jeep previously reported by people in Leadore and DeOrr’s mother, Jessica Mitchell, was unfounded.

“That was a farce, we know that for a fact,” Klein said.

In any case it still leaves the inconsistancies in the parents' statements as reported by LE, not the private investigators:

Lemhi County Sheriff Lynn Bowerman said that authorities in Lemhi and Bonneville counties have noted a number of discrepancies in many of the written and oral statements issued by Kunz Sr. and Mitchell over the course of the investigation.

“It’s the small things that change every time,” Bowerman said.

However, Browning, who was hired by Kunz Sr. earlier this week, said discrepancies are not uncommon in situations like this.

“Anytime somebody makes lots and lots of statements, the statements are probably not going to match up 100 percent,” Browning said.

Bowerman also noted that Kunz Sr. and Mitchell were given multiple polygraph tests over the course of the investigation. Though the results came back as inconclusive, the sheriff said that the parents consistently failed on the questions asking whether they knew anything about DeOrr’s disappearance and whether they knew where DeOrr was located.

“One of the FBI’s top polygraph experts told us, ‘these folks are not being truthful,’” Bowerman said.

I did note that in the sheriff's new statement linked by Onebest that he didn't address any suspicious strangers seen by the mother but I would think (hope) they investigated the man. He also didn't say whether or not he still considers the parents suspects. Nor did he say he no longer considers them suspects.

Ugh, what a mess. This case may never be resolved even if Deorr's body is eventually found. So much time has passed COD would be indeterminate at best though the location would IMO be informative. I'm so sorry for Deorr that his little life was cut short.

What VDK and JM are hoping for ? Sad how two such ingrates could accomplish anything like this. Do I sound bitter ?

I've been on the fence, but after watching People Investigates I agree with the gentleman at the end who suspects there was some sort of accident and the parents covered it up. The parents' differing stories could possibly be attributed to the stress of the situation, but there's no good explanation for their making up stories about the diesel attendant and beer truck driver interacting with DeOrr.

I haven't followed this case.

Its too bad the dad didn't do an interview. I understand why, but without his input, it felt like he was more suspicious than mom.

It sure didn't sound like they had Deorr with them when they were in town does it?

It also is strange that the young man wwnt with them.

I guess its normal for people to go camping on Oxygen. It felt strange that grandpa was there as well.

I'll watch it again, I missed a few parts if the show.

This case is a total mess. I have followed it peripherally but not in detail, until I watched the People Magazine show. At first it seemed like a missing kid case. Then the parents started talking. Wow, what a mess. They are pretty clearly covering up something, MOO. Who made breakfast? They can't even get that straight?

Poor cute little kid, born to parents who will lie to protect themselves rather than just tell the truth and do the decent thing. Very sad.

The crazy thing is that if it was just some kind of accident they might not have been punished by the law at all. Which, of course, makes most people assume the worst because they are covering up...
